Once we started this conversation I realized people are gonna do whatever they want so I deleted the entire friends list and no longer accept requests. It's the only way to slow annoying videos in my email. As for sending videos out, I have zero desire. I do my videos for family, friends and as a resume for work. My subscribers just showed up. I don't invite views or ask for subs I just try for good content.

So, you try to share out a video reasonably, and you get called this... and these people are probably doing the same to everybody that sends to them. This could lead to 2 things. The person sending could say, I might as well spam, because I am being called a spammer, or they stop sending which is damaging to the site's activity.

No "tactics" to get views or subscribers other than occasionally responding to videos or telling a friend or two. I don't see viewership as an entitlement. I try to create material worth viewing. I am more interested in how far my material takes itself. My two top viewed were simply released. One was a sarcastic response. One was an original rant.
After 26 years working in Hollywood, I know all too well how to get seen. Drama, T&A, controversy, spam, contests, using others as stepping stones, aligning with popularity, sucking up to influence, playing on current events, celebrity gossip and shock, gorilla marketing and so on. All old hat Hollywood games long before youtube ever existed. This place was cool for a while. Now it's turning into sold out wannabees failing at engaging in the crap this place was once a cool alternative to.

If you feel this way, you should tell your viewers to make sure they don't share your videos. I can guarantee many of them share your videos. Or does that not count?
VlogginUs5000: There's a sharing function and there's email. The sharing function works fine. It's free, effective and performs without clogging email. It isn't spamming until the same videos arrive in triplicate. Sharing also functions with favorites, home page featuring, play lists. There are plenty of ways to share without clogging email with requests. The difference between us is I respect peoples choice which angers no one. You feel a perceived "right" which annoys plenty of people.
I respect everyone's choice to either accept receiving friend requests for sharing or deciding not to. I agree, I don't like getting the same video multiple times, so if I decide to remove them so they can't do it to me anymore, they should respect my choice as well.
You just gave me the biggest reason I'm not getting as many views as I'd like, and why people are watching amateur material more than they see the videos I poured literally HOURS into producing.

and to be honest, after i watched this video i became even more open to others invites and messages.. i went back to all my old invites and found some cool videos, so i accepted them and even subscribed.
That's a good point as well. If it is something that bothers you when people send you videos before checking out yours, you may want to simply send them your videos before getting too frustrated about it.

I just started a channel called GenUs5000 which dedicated to that. There is currently only one video, but it a lot is planned for it. Out of all the new channels I have branched off in, I think I will be enjoying that one the most.

VlogginUs5000: I figured that accepting friend request was just being polite. Once we started this conversation I realized people are gonna do whatever they want so I deleted the entire friends list and no longer accept requests. It's the only way to slow annoying videos in my email. As for sending videos out, I have zero desire. I do my videos for family, friends and as a resume for work. My subscribers just showed up. I don't invite views or ask for subs I just try for good content.

Hi mate, personally I have never felt spammed by the ****us5000 lot. I get the notification ONCE, I look at it when I can... I am happy. As you say, this site IS about watching/sending/sharing videos and that is what I want to do here so....all cool. BUT in the past I have been spammed by somebody who abused the system by sending several videos per day EVERY day... eventually I removed him from my list. Personally I am ok with what you are doing, keep it up.

Thank you. I guess what bothers me the most is that I know all too well what a spammer really is and I have always tried to make sure that I don't come off as one. So, you try to share out a video reasonably, and you get called this... and these people are probably doing the same to everybody that sends to them. This could lead to 2 things. The person sending could say, I might as well spam, because I am being called a spammer, or they stop sending which is damaging to the site's activity.

No "tactics" to get views or subscribers other than occasionally responding to videos or telling a friend or two. I don't see viewership as an entitlement. I try to create material worth viewing. I am more interested in how far my material takes itself. My two top viewed were simply released. One was a sarcastic response. One was an original rant.

After 26 years working in Hollywood, I know all too well how to get seen. Drama, T&A, controversy, spam, contests, using others as stepping stones, aligning with popularity, sucking up to influence, playing on current events, celebrity gossip and shock, gorilla marketing and so on. All old hat Hollywood games long before youtube ever existed. This place was cool for a while. Now it's turning into sold out wannabees failing at engaging in the crap this place was once a cool alternative to.

I don't feel I fail to engage with the coolness... by people sending me videos, I get to engage in just that. The people that "spam" the crap out of me, I simply remove. I don't understand what's so complicated about that.

When people send me videos, I don't see it as begging for views. I see it as people sharing their videos on a video sharing website. When I log into YouTube it lists things such as
"Upload and share your videos with millions of other users"
"Save your favorite videos to watch and share later"
If you feel this way, you should tell your viewers to make sure they don't share your videos. I can guarantee many of them share your videos. Or does that not count?

VlogginUs5000: There's a sharing function and there's email. The sharing function works fine. It's free, effective and performs without clogging email. It isn't spamming until the same videos arrive in triplicate. Sharing also functions with favorites, home page featuring, play lists. There are plenty of ways to share without clogging email with requests. The difference between us is I respect peoples choice which angers no one. You feel a perceived "right" which annoys plenty of people.

I respect everyone's choice to either accept receiving friend requests for sharing or deciding not to. I agree, I don't like getting the same video multiple times, so if I decide to remove them so they can't do it to me anymore, they should respect my choice as well.

Anyway, yes... responding to everyone can be a chore all in it's own. It may not be necessary to reply to all, but it is important to do respond to as many as you can when you can get around to it. I think it's just courteous.
