  • Hoorah NAVY!!!

  • Guam is an occupied territory by a terrorist regime known as USA. The US will NEVER give it up, since it is very important for maintain it's global imperialism.

The US is the cause of all the poverty and root of all evil since the end of WW2. There is no such thing as human rights by the US.

  • @Isreal4realz you are some what correct...

  • @Isreal4realz wait, dude, you're an aipac supporter, as i see from your profile, how can you not like american imperialism? or is that in jest?

  • @Isreal4realz and israel is a paragon of justice right?

  • Holy shit, that camera at 22:39 is an autobot!

  • what does china think to gain by having a war with the us annilaition? perhaps yes

  • What stability are we talking about Captain Johanson, when we are looking at the subject of all warcraft on Guam. You may say it is a "Global" necessity: WAR, but it is not so here in ths small island: Guam. I'm not saying leave, Chamoru hospitality doesn't speak in that manner. Just please don't destroy what little we have. I have no other place to call home.

  • i would like to add one more thing i salute all the brave men and women of Guam that died in the defence of America . I was in Guam a few months ago on my way back from the Philippines coz my wife is from Philippines , anyway while in the airport in Guam i saw the pictures on the wall of all the fallen soldiers from Guam my heart goes out to the families of those that have fallen God bless them God bless Guam and God bless U.S.A. oh and God bless Philippines it rocks !!!!

  • islandvibe671 i understand wht your saying i truely do , look declaring independance is not the answer to guams problem in fact it would create many more problems . Here is what the people of Guam should do get a group not just one or two but a group of citizens to boycott capitol hill for a hearing on the matter , then go to the news networks on the mainland coz no one here watches the Guam new channel . You got to get the american people to notice then things will change. peace i luv Guam !!!!

  • put it all in perspective for yourself

  • secondly, americas only purpose for presence on the island is because we are a strategic importance to them which is primarily the reason why we cant self-determine our political status.

  • If the US left......Chamorros would have China take over........You know the country that executs more people than any other country in the world.........and will shit on your so called human rights........The US is there for till the end of time

  • @PodHarvester empires have not existed since the beginning of time, they will not exist forever. Working people can choose a new path free of the Chinese or American capitalists.

  • if it wasnt the US controlling 1/3 of the island it would be japan or sum1 else.........and maybe theyd be controlling every inch of it

  • im a mainlander and i do agree with the citizens of guam that they deserve more of a voice in elections etc, but i also thank your history is alittle off first of all it wasnt america that imposed its will on guam , philippines or any other pacific islands . it was spainish that imposed those things they were also the first ones in america to attack american indians. i dnt use that as an excuse though. oh im married to a beautiful filipina she can tell you island history better than me . peace!!

  • thank you for your comment, but i must make sure that you understand the impact of America on the island. first, the US controls 1/3 of land on Guam, which if was taken without consent of the landowners. lets place it in perspective, imagine someone taking your home to establish a military base without your consent, how would you feel or how would your family feel knowing that whatever you had is now gone?

  • @1stSgt8999

If it wasn't for the U.S. the Japanese would have never even invaded Guam. The only reason they came was because of the U.S. military was there. I'm not saying I'm not glad they liberated Guam, but your ignorance is just beyond me.

  • @SolidCorn thats not completely true. they were imperialist and they were eventually going to take guam. be glad the us is on guam.

  • Guam is our land. and we preserve it, just mocking that already shows that your not true to your island. mainlanders didn't give us a choice to invite them or deny. But there are many of us that would protect our people even if it mean attacking the mainlanders. mayb the chamoru's like me would remember that.

  • It's amazing how ignorant people are. I'm a Chamorro from Guam and everyone who complains about getting their land back don't understand what will happen if Guam was alone in the middle of the Pacific without the U.S. to defend the island. What are you people going to do with the land when you get it back anyway? Park junk cars on it? Sell it for ICE?

  • Comment removed

  • You would be speaking Japanese right now if it wasn't for the US. I am sure they would have treated you with kindness and respect like they did the Chinese.

  • In that case, everything is fine then right? We are thankful and patriotic. Many of our sons and daughters have fought for America post-WW2. We deserve more from the US.

  • Such a tired record to hear over and over again. Whats done is done. They didn't come here to liberate us. Thank you! We were validated as second-class citizens, oh that we had to fight for many years. They came for the land. Isn't that what happened to the Native Americans? How about the native people of Diego Garcia? They were forced off their islands and a wonderful military base is there now. So rad of the US!

  • nesianboy... Diego Garcia is owned by the UK... oh I'm sorry you didn't know that because your education system on Guam sucks. get your facts right before you say something stupid

    "This is my island bro!!"

you can have it, it sucks

  • LOL. Yes, the UK owns Diego Garcia and had the natives displaced. Then the US came and built their wonderful base.

I would say that the education isn't up to par in the islands but that isn't the fault of the people. I can thank better education in the mainland for knowing the truth and speaking up to people like you!

  • One more thing...you can buy a ticket and fly back to the mainland. Come see me and I'll welcome you.

  • Yes and being forced to speak English, not have a say in the major issues and having land taken away is how to be American?

I'm sure the Iraqis love being liberated as well right? We are doing God's work, is that it?

  • Take at the look of the whole picture. Don't look at the dollars. We are talking something that will almost be impossible to undo. Look at the US track record with Native Americans, Kanaka Maolis (native Hawaiian, Marshallese, Iraqis, Vietnamese and the list goes on. They are slowly taking our lands away from us and we will be lost in our islands. We will be a blur and our island will be overrun. Look at Hawai'i. We cannot turn away from who we really are.

  • Smells like teen spirit!

  • chamarro pride forever!

  • OH WOW......China is getting big and strong, lets keep buying everything we can from them so the mall owners in America can get rich and the American worker can be put out of work. Then we can send all our out of work workers to fight China

  • CAN you be more militaristic than USSAR ... USSAR is largest pile of shit on thsii EARTH ...

  • this is probably the best documentary i've seen about guam's recent issues.

  • Nafambanidosa ham na manaotao chamoru yan kumontra ham kontra Amerika ,i lengguahen Ingles yan todu hayi siña manakomprende yan mafino' lengguahen Ingles! Abiba Chamoru! Imfietno para Amerika! Guåhan i tano-mami, ti Amerika, este imfietnon magahit na tano'.

  • Defensa ham para tano'-mami, lao kontra influensian Amerika!

  • Ta kontra Amerika! Independensia Guåhan! Nisista Ameirka hanao para i imfietno yan gof-lalalo' manchamoru ham kontra Amerika!

  • سلم سِم و حب غلب, إنتص ف غوام.

  • While that is true that the economy is in dire need of alternative paths, American build-up is not the only solution. What is easier, is not always better. If the better of the economy means the aid to the destruction of a culture, a lifestyle, and the danger of the island to higher chances of nuclear warfare, then what good is it? Congresswoman Bordellobitch will soon reap what she so sews.

  • Chamoro's have no idea about whats coming to them, what do you think all of the Marines are for? Martial Law..

  • What was the name of the first song?

  • Smells like teen spirit by Nirvana

  • ty.

  • funny all this talk of how much china is spending on its military when the US spends more money on "defense" than the next 6 or 7 countries COMBINED. its all bullshit designed to keep the people frightened and easier to control.

  • 4 real yo...i've met alot of chamorros from guam && wen i speak chamorro 2 them, they say sorry 2 me cuz they don't understand or speak chamorro b-cuz their parents didn't teach em...so sad man...

  • then lets unite as chamorro's so we protect our identity. Chamorro's in the CNMI are facing the same fate.

  • At least we're not speaking Japanese right now. LOL. I mean by force of course.

  • WOW! Has this just opened up my eyes. I have been living on the mainland for over 15 years and had not known of the threat that lies back home. We are being exploited because of our strategic location to the US.

Its not about being from Guam or the NMI. Through out the islands, we face the same threat of losing our identity. How can we forge forward if we lose where we came from?

  • this is following up to esterlg's comment

The build-up of the military will be very interesting to watch in the next few years... I wonder what will happen. Will Guam turn into a battle ground? Or will it just turn into an island like Hawaii... over crowded, expensive, and full of homeless indigenous peoples

  • shyts true man i went 2 guam && saipan r like big diffrence...in saipan we speak chamorro like erry day in skool...but wen i went 2 guam long tyme ago &&& alot of people there don't even know how 2 speak chamorro...shoots some of the guamanianz here in florida talk shyt bout guam...bout how theere so show off callin them self chamorros && they don't even know how 2 speak chamorro...

  • will the young people in saipan still be speaking chamorro 30 years from now? Guam has had much more outside influence than the CNMI. Our population is much more diverse. As the CNMI falls victim to globalization, they may meet the same fate as the Chamorros from Guam. Guam has been part of the USA for 110 years. CNMI is only USA since 1986. 22 years! 22 years after Guam became USA in 1898, everyone still spoke Chamorro. CNMI and all the other islands in the region are in danger of the same.

  • Part II couldn't fit

I am enraged that the military is doing so little to educate the people on this island. The town meetings are not even posted as to when and where it is located. What have the Americans done to Guam they import a deadly culture. The young generation of Chamorros don't even know how to speak their language. Why do they call themselves Chamorro American? Why not be proud just to call yourself a Chamorro. WE are just "naturalized american citizens."

  • Yeah...blame the military for the young generation of chamorros not speaking the language. Don't blame their fat, lazy-ass parents and grandparents for never taking the time to teach them. Also, you know for a fact that if the U.S. hadn't intervened and taken over, Guam would either be wiped of the face of the planet or, if it had been left to the locals, dirty, poor, and disease ridden. You dumb asses would be living in mud/grass huts. You think you'd have the health care you have??? Bitch.

  • Italian Americans that don't speak Italian, German Americans that don't speak German, French Americans that don't speak French, Hispanic Americans that don't speak Spanish, Chamorro Americans that don't speak Chamamorro. I guess we all have one thing in common. Fat, lazy-ass parents and grandparents that never took the time to teach us.

  • All the Italian, German, French, and Hispanic Americans that don't speak their native language aren't blaming the U.S. for their inability to speak their native tongue. But wouldn't you know it, the CHAMORROS sure as hell are. I mean really...come on... what other reason than the elders not teaching the young ones to speak Chamorro explains why the young ones can't speak Chamorro??? EXACTLY

  • first of all, guam/cnmi are small islands which makes us more vulnerable to influence. france, mexico, italy, etc. have many people in their country who have little to no american influence, thats why they stills peak their native language. its those people who migrate to the U.S. who of course don't speak their native language because they are in an predominantly English-speaking country.

  • You dont know what your talking about, Im in Hagatna Guam now. very few Chamoro's speak Chmoro. Check your fact..

    Sheeple

  • very true. Hawaii is a perfect example of that vulnerability. Less than 5% of the population of Hawaii speaks Hawaiian today. All the Pacific islands languages are threatened. Even the Fiji islands now have more Indians than native fijians. The Filipino population on Guam may someday be the largest ethnic group. Surpassing Chamorro. Globalization and westernization are the causes.

  • However its the AMERICANS who CAME HERE! They shoved that U.S. citizenship down our throats. They didnt bother to acclimate to our culture, or language. They instead brought their culture to us. Which makes it THEIR fault. Not our fatass parents and grandparents.

  • Well maybe we wanted to hav freedom, their not saying "Hey do this do that!" No, they're giving us freedom and a bunch of shit that makes our life easier. U should be thankful we hav alot of badass shit today, cuz back then u would hav to work ur asshole off! XP

  • EVERYBODY WAKE UP! from the false reality that the US is helping Guam. Yes the US is helping Guam so much financially. No-one really thinks what is going to happen to this small island when the military buildup happens. Did everyone forget what happened in Subic, Philippines and in Okinawa, Japan? Do you even question why they military were "KICKED OUT?"

  • Great video. Thank you Guamanians and Chamorros from mainland Americans. We understand and appreciate your sacrifices as well. We wish you the best and hope you can continue to support our great country!

  • I was stationed on Guam while in the Marines from 86-88 and loved it. The people treated me nicely and I have a great deal of respect for the people who live on the island.

In fact, I pray I am able to visit the island as a tourist one day with family members to show them how beautiful the island is. No matter how many people move there, no one can take away the beauty of the island or its people.

  • I was born and raised in Guam and I never had any problems with the U.S Military being there,in fact most people on the island support the Military presence there.

Even though Guam is over 5,000 miles away from the U.S Mainland, many people in Guam feel a very strong bond and connection with America and many are proud to be Americans.

God Bless The Marianas and God Bless America !

  • yah were not like Britain who tax u for everything and we let u vote so thats why the ppl on Guam enjoy being part of America because they have all the rights we do in America

  • this is toward mightyshawn, the US has been on the island since 1898. Of the 110 years, minus the Japanese takeover in WW2, I'd say Guam became even better with US presence. Its NOT an invasion as your "kind" will assume. And if you might know, the US Armed Forces comprise of minorities as well so quit being paranoid that theyre after anyone who's not white, you sound like a retard. At least the Americans allow the chamorro culture to thrive alongside unlike "others" who I bet wouldnt, so there

  • Hafa Adai everyone! Wow, growing up on the island as a kid in the late 70s early 80s was really something special. When I left for the mainland in '84 I had no idea Guam would be overrun with modern conveniences. Dont get me wrong, we had electricity, theatres, stores, etc. back then too. When I came back home in '95, Guam looked a lot different . I dont know if it's for the better or not. They're economy is thriving because of tourism and the military let alone the Americanization outlets...

  • But Guam was also overrun by the Americanization of the presence of the US miltary when I was growing up in the 70s too. I didnt notice any significant impact on our culture or our people. I noticed that when you go south of the island, Inarajan, Umatac, Merizo, a lot of our culture thrives without any semblance of an "outside invasion." Its like the American South. Its still the US yet, you feel "Dixie" ruminating about. To me, thats how Southern Guam feels like.

  • I lived in Guam from mid 1980 up until the end of the 20th Century. I had the option to join the miltary after high school but decided to give that scholarship a shot to study in California. When I'm done here I plan to go back to Guam and teach about our Chamorro ways and keep our culture alive. I fully support the US troops in Guam. Those who disagree are only bitter because of the resentment they perceive "colonialism" is from either textbooks/ TV or just simply angry at anything American

  • America's military gets fucked, The islanders get fucked aswell.. the only reason why there are military build-up in other countries is because they see America pushing them to do so.

Our "protection" is our own destruction.

  • The build-up of the military will be very interesting to watch in the next few years... I wonder what will happen. Will Guam turn into a battle ground? Or will it just turn into an island like Hawaii... over crowded, expensive, and full of homeless indigenous peoples.

  • I definitely think so!!!

    SO SAD!!!

  • Guam has the worlds largest K-Mart! I live and work in Japan and have been to Guam about 6 times. If I were an American citizen, I would have already bought a house there.

  • guam chicks like it in the butt

  • Who sold the land on Tumon Bay it was not the U.S. I grow up on Guam from 1976 til 1998 I saw the growth & was sad about all the families selling their lands, Tumon bay was all coconut trees all you could see from Marine Dr. but now all see is the Hotels so who sold the Land I ask

  • Shouldn't the the question be, Why did these families sell?

  • As a Chamorro, I'm glad to be an american. Sure, there are a LOT of problems with our government, but, for what it's worth, I enjoy our freedoms as well. Do not use the Chamorro Nation as an example of Americanisation; You don't care about Guam, and you don't care for what we fight for. You simply use us as pawns for your silly crusade.

  • First of all you guys need to stop using Guam as some sort of pawn to raise the world against America, we have always been a strong people we have survived so many years on our own and the struggles we have we can deal with ourselves,

  • continued- and also stop consulting "Chamorro Nation" they are hypocrites, they want Chamorros to have their culture back but they themselves i bet dont instill the culture in their kids, bula pride taya effort, our cultures not in danger, yes we need to make an effort to revive the culture but it will never go away.

  • also, stop using our fallen soldiers as an excuse, you dishonor their names how dare you, even though we Guamanians dont have all our rights( which by the way we do have the right to vote for president on the mainland) we all make the conscious choice to stand up for our nation,

  • I am Chamorro but im also American, and just because there are patches of darkness in America's dealings there still remains one thing "United we stand, Divided we fall" although there are some things i disagree with i still love my island and the nation that we contribute to. i'd much rather be an American citizen than a Japanese citizen.

  • my friend, our culture IS in GRAVE danger.

  • americans dont even know guam exists what are you talking about?

  • I love America! America the freedom light of the world. Anyone who disagrees should be shot at dawn, let them live in Mexico and see how they like it. God Bless America!!!!!!!!

  • Unfortunately, the tip of the spear usually means the first battleground during a confrontation.

I'm proud to be a Guamanian American (even if I can't vote), but I wish the US would approach China more as an ornery child that needs guidance, than an enemy.

China responds to outsiders because of the demise they experienced throughout their history from the UK, and Japan.

Treat China as a 'difficult neighbor', not as the next Russia.

  • All in all, Guam is America removed; America's day really does start on Guam. I consider Guam my second home, my son was born their, and I graduated from UOG. I love and miss the people, and no matter the what happens with the military, I hope that the beauty of the island and the people of Guam always remain as wonderful as they were while I lived on island, and one day I hope to go back and live out my days watching the sun sink over the Phillipine Sea at the end of the day.

  • @lasheratl Cool story, bro, tell it again.

  • It is apparent to me that the US DOD sees Guam as a significant asset to the continuing growth and strengthing of our (USA!)offensive and more importantly defenseive position in the world. I hope and pray that all of us americans respect that move and all of our fine ladies and gentlemen in and out of uniform who are making this happen. Cpt Lee seems to have this all under control. GO BLUE!

  • What would you do? get caught off guard again?

  • I couldn't agree more mightyshawn

  • inspiring???????

  • Let people govern for themeselves. American arrogance only impede peace in the world.

  • unfortunately, in today's modern society, we need America just as much as they need us.

There's enough room in that relationship though, to look out for the people of Guam, along with Washington's interest.

Americans rescued us from slaughter during World War 2. There is no reason to bring about that slaughter 60 years later, just because of a hard-nosed diplomatic policy towards China.

  • Think before you post something and use correct words -- otherwise, you look like a fool!

  • You really need a refresher course in English 101...by the way, are you adept in the use of chopsticks?

  • wierdo -- Many Americans are NOT white. Open your mind and quit being so Paranoid.

  • American military CAUSES deaths? Are you that insipid or just a complete moron? Dont you research anything or just believe everything the media feeds you? Didnt you just hear the journalist reiterate that the US was only preparing its miltary on the island to PREVENT any war from happening? Did you get that through your numbnut skull you dunce? What would you do if a large nation like China was secretly building its miltary for no reason? Its bad enough theyre crippling the US economy within

  • And didnt you also listen how the US was in alliance with the Japanese and Australians in defence of the Pacific region? How is that arrogant? I swear its liberal, anti-common sense people like you that will only create havoc and anarchy in the world. I'm not saying that out of bias toward America but out of defense for logic and common sense. I'm not American but a concern citizen. Why is it everytime America is invovled in something ppl like you always cry out "America is bad, etc..."

  • The Chammoro people dont seem fazed by the US being on their doorstep. If anything, they seem more proud and grateful so whats it to you, mightyshawn? I tell you what, to please you, I HOPE China prevails and takes over the world including Russia and Iran. I'm sure each of those respective governments/theocracies has what it takes to "create" that "peace" you so desire. Good luck

  • you know what shut up because if it wasn't for the military we both would be speaking japanese right now

Signed A Proud Chamoru and Airmen in the USAF!

  • damn thats Cold that is not true ur making it sound like all those soldiers are robots and kill everything in front of them thats not true if we could do that the War in Iraq would be over because everyone would be dead because those Terroist are cowards and run into crowds using them as cover when their shooting or running away most of the time it's running away so Cavillian death is accidental never on purpose

  • Inspiring.
