Basic Cookie Making

I wanted to take a moment to thank you so much for sharing your tips. I am new to cookie baking and have tried several well to be honest with you I have tried almost every tip out there and whenever I tried to make my sugar cookies I ended up with a big mess and extremely frustrated. Not this time thanks to you and your wonderful tips I made perfect beautiful cookies! No mess, no melt downs and they my dough didn't end up in a sticky heap in the trash and me in tears. Thank you soooo much.

my problem i sknowing when they are cooked - they always look white to me! I'm good at taking them out too late and an hour later i have hard cookies :(
