Its like listening to 2 diff songs. I think both this and the original version are equally as good, because honestly you cant compare the 2. They may both be the same lyrics but I feel that this version has a completely different tone and is played much slower, which i believe is more powerful and shows a sadder side to this song. Where as the original is played a little more upbeat with more piano and pauls tone seems somewhat happier , which to me represents a more positive side of the song.

Went through this same thing with my older brother dying in Afganistan 6 years ago. I was with my mom when we heard. This was one of his funeral songs chosen by me. It seems to me that the biggest riots in Detroit occured around the time of Dr. King's assination, which was in 1968. By the time "Let It Be" was released (1970, I believe) major race riots in Detroit involving National Guardsmen were a thing of the past. I could be wrong about the timing, but historical innacuracies ruin things (for me).
