  • hello i'd like to know wich notes are u playing? coz i dont understand what u mean in the explain u have give up

  • Gotta love New Order! thanks for this great song - easily my fav New Order song. well done btw.

  • nice job man, I love playing this song on the guitar, did it different, yours is better. What fret is the capo on? cant really see.

  • @thirtythree303 Capo 7 if you play standard...I'm 1/2 step down so capo is on 8th

  • @wontonofanmail

He makes me nervous when he looks into the camera.

  • Great version of one of my New Order favorites

  • Great interpretation!

  • I thought it kicked ass.

  • Oh, I'll break them down, no mercy shown, Heaven knows, it's got to be this time, Watching her, these things she said, The times she cried, Too frail to wake this time. Oh I'll break them down, no mercy shown Heaven knows, it's got to be this time, Avenues all lined with trees, Picture me and then you start watching, Watching forever, forever, Watching love grow, forever, Letting me know, forever.
  • holy crap, this is awesome... very tight, nice sound, great singing. One of my favorite songs... never heard this done acoustically like this before. Great job.

  • Great stuff!

  • wow fabulous. you need to do tutorials :)

  • beautiful singing, great job!

  • great job!

  • really good man!

  • Like it a lot.

  • very good song and you play it and sing well congratulations

  • Thank you so much for creating this amazingly simple rendition of a fantastic song. I've just started out on guitar and this is one anyone can learn to play quickly, and even sing along to, but it sounds deceptively more complicated than it is. Great job man!

  • As someone who has seen this track by the boys, I must say well done.

  • your amazing =)

  • Man, this is truly outstanding, way to go!

  • Dude... That was awesome... Really...

  • Or is it closer to

    D ddDdd D dddddd UDU

    ?

Is wontonofanmail doing something special to make the high strings ring like that?

  • I think you got it right for the most part...again, I'm not good at up down up down patterns (cuz I never learned that way) but your pattern sounds just about right.

Instead of UDU though, I think I'm actually playing DUD but you have to do it FAST! as if it were just one down stroke with just a split second up stroke. Let us know if that works for you

  • Can anybody post a suggested strum pattern similar to what this guy is playing?

I'm a newbie, so "Just listen and play the same thing" doesn't work for me, because I can't interpret what I'm hearing.

Is it mostly just downstrokes like wontonofanmail said? It's hard to play a lot of downstrokes quickly in a row.

I'm wondering if it's something like...

    D ddddd D ddddd U

    Anyone? Anyone?

  • Brilliant!

Love the song, love your version..

  • nicely done my brother of Ian

  • That's such an ingeniously simple arrangement. Great!

  • Good work - enjoyed listening to this - thank you.

  • cool!

  • Very nice

  • could you hook me up with the tabs or chords? i love the way your arrangement sounds.

  • Sure...just scroll up earlier in the comments and I have the chords posted there. Thanks for the comment!

  • Excellent job

  • Awesome man, and thanks for the breakdown of how to play...you are awesome

  • what fret do you start out at?

  • I have the capo on the 8th fret cuz im tuned down 1/2 step...capo on 7th fret if your using standard tuning

  • 10/10

  • Great rendition of one of my JoyDiv NewOrd favorites!

It's amzaing that you can simplify the entire song to 4 chords. I'm going to give it a try

  • Haha i just happened to be on when you posted....thats a cool feeling and thanks for the comment!

  • 5 stars from me, I really like this.

  • Loved it mate, keep it up

  • nice strumming...i need to improve my skills there...wish i could see the breakdown of how u separate the sounds the way u do...:)

  • LOL it sounds kinda funny but when I started learning different strumming patterns, I would just crank up the volume on YouTube and play along with the song.

It will sound terribly off at first, but as long as your chord transitions are good, then you're strumming hand will slowly get the rhythm down.

I'm only using 2 chords on this song so you should pick up the left hand easily. The right hand i just use almost all down strokes with a quick up/down strum at the beginning of each line.

  • Well done.

  • Awesome guitar work.

  • yeah, really awesome cover, i like how simple you've broken down the melody, it really gets the core of the song across!

  • Thanks for the comment! I wasn't really sure how it would turn out but definitely such a classic song.

  • Awesome job. Im a total newbie with guitar and cant tell for sure but how did you play this? Any chance you could tab this? Seems simpler than the difficult ones on the internet that dont seem to fit my acoustic guitar D: But ya if you could do that then that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Yeah, I'm definitely an amateur myself so I couldn't find any tabs neither that I could play so I just kinda made this one up. You can capo 7th fret and use the following 2 chord positions:

    eADGBE

    000X00

    00X000

    then

    eADGBE

    000x00

    0xx000

for the intro, use chord 1 and alternate between string A and D, then e and D (you have to sound it out cuz i'm not good at tabbing)...my guitars tuned down 1/2 step so the capo is on 8th fret.

  • I really like your cover of this song. But im uh a lil curious of how you played it. Im a total newbie at guitar and i cant really tell what youre doing. But yeah i really wanna play this and i cant quite follow much of the tabs on the internet of this song. So if you could tell me how you played it, that would be appreciated greatly.

  • great cover man!/great song

  • Thanks for the comment! Yea, those new order songs sure bring back some good feelings.

  • good job dude. such a great song.
