Toscanini was very professional, He was very connected with the partiture and the all musicians, He was in perfect balance, Technique and emotions, He express Beethoven so
deep due of his temper, Latino temper!!!!, full of emotions!!!!!
Here is genius of a sort we cannot fail to appreciate! Maestro Toscanini never conducted anything which he did not know as intimately and completely as the composers themselves, if not better-yet than they!
Bravo, Maestro Arturo Toscanini...so powerfully profound & majestically Great!!...With awesome talent you conduct your fine musicians, specially outstanding woodwinds & strings!! Thank you very kindly adorable & sublime Ludwig van Beethoven for this Beautiful mvt...!!
OMG?! At 5:21 I have NEVER heard the strings echo the woodwinds like that. And it sounds like THATS WHAT IT SHOULD BE! Everyone else makes those notes dramatically long as if the strings are in there own little world. It makes perfect sense to hear it played this way. In fact, I'll bet this is the way Beethoven intended it. Its as if they answer a question of the woodwinds, then they continue about thier conversation.
according to furtwangler's words,,he thought toscanini is the the german music conductor.furtwangler respect toscaini so much,u can find out the paper. anyway, they were greatest conductor.poli,i must sorry for my rude b4,i know u are music lover.u dun like toscanini may be becoz of the recording effect.
@AfroPoli if u are chinese,i will give you a word" kai" .toscanini of coz not good in shostakovich,he was not russian and never lived in Ussr .Can furtwangler conduct shostakovich?,ussr music belongs to ussr people and their musican ,dun be silly
@henrykkingdom No, I am not Chinese. Great argument btw. Toscanini was not German either and did not understand German music and language. You can hear it in this very recording. Don't be silly.
My favorite part starts at 2:51 but Toscanini is a bit too fast here for my taste. I like the rendition of Sergiu Celibidache and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra better. much more beautiful. still. thank you very much for the videos!
Funny, Toscanini takes the "Presto" part in the beginning of the 4th movement faster than the "Prestissimo" part at the very end of this symphony. He takes the Presto part Prestissimo, and takes that end Prestissimo part Allegretto/Allegro.
Sublime, Maravilloso, Bello, Superior!!!!, Divino!!!

Terrible conducting. He makes every orchestra sound like a banda militare.

@henrykkingdom Go, use your ears. And if you want a real authority on Toscanini, read some Furtwängler or Shostakovich.

I can't listen to this without tearing up. This is, for me, one of the greatest compositions ever created.

I believe that Toscanini had the perfect balance between technical perfection and emotional expressivity.

@phantom4087 Look at how many years he conducted. He was supposed to have gotten it right. He was one of the great ones.
