That horse was really ancy before the scream, but that probably sent him over the egde. But, it also coulve been something the rider did to make him tip. But, we will never know so its not worth arguing about.
@bettsa15 Their hooves are kept longer. Also with Saddlebreds, and TWH they use a wedge with a steel shoe over that. It causes that high action step that the crowds love. I have a TWH and couldn't imagine stacking him...he's too tall as it is!!
My horse was a saddle seat horse (though he is a morgan), initially trained the same way, the training has messed him up! I cant TOUCH a whip, and thats with being in a big arena, without him freaking.
The small amount of screaming wouldn't of bothered that horse. The music shouldn't have either. If you have a show horse, they have to be exposed to this kind of stuff. Possibly something else went wrong.
Saddlebred show horses are used to lots of noise, they are trained to tolerate it. This horse had some other issue going on. Possibly riders inexperience, don't know.
saddlebreds are skittish to begin with... my neighbor has them and i refuse to ride them because i wouldnt feel safe... i feel safer on my own horse whos a training jumper and hes an ex barrel horse...
@DIEGOxRULES Well it depends, all horses are different. I've ridden saddlebreds all my life since I was 10, as well as quarter horses, and there have been some that are skiddish and some that were extremely calm. Every horses's temperment is different :)
Also did you notice the guys pull on the horse mouth??? Hmm? Well he did and he shouldn't have in a full bridle and lord knows how high the port might be in his bit.
you know, this may not be stupid to u guys... but wat pisses me off is the winner didnt even stop her horse and at least look at the guy... now thats snottyness...
well actually i have been to MANY saddlebred shows, i have always thought all the screaming was not necessary as the horses seem to perform nicely without it, the horses elegance does not seem to match with all the screaming, seems incongruent to me, ruins the nice image of the saddlebred...
@AlleMeineLiebe These are American Saddlebred show horses. For more information about the breed, go to the site for the American Saddlebred Horse Association asha.net.
I think that horse should get a tail trim, its dangerous.

@bettsa15 long toes, weighted shoes. They do a whole bunch or wacky stuff to "enhance" their gait.

Show horses are accustomed to various noises. They have their moments just like we do

tobyluver100 1 year ago
its not the screaming, these horses are used to it. people actually do it to help get the horses excited. maybe it was the ribbons.
