  • Ever since the "horizon" in video games was discovered... Games changed forever.

  • wow i remember playing this in the arcades and getting to stage 2 or 3. after that, i didn't have money to continue (i used to spend only 50 cents on the arcade per day, 25 cents on this game, and 25 on another like final fight)

  • I have the Roadblasters arcade port on Midway Arcade Treasures for the PS2. And they have a t-shirt give away if you complete rally 50!! I'm going to keep playing it til I pass it and mail in the info. And best of all no expiration date!:)

  • I definitely remember this game

  • One of my arcade favorites! I dazzled friends on many occasions with my Roadblasters skills.

  • I loved playing this game in my youth. I also sucked at it XD

  • Running too fast! But then again, what's new when it comes to running this game on emulators? It's always too slow or too fast...or bad sound. And Forget Mortal Kombat One.

  • This game was made exclusively by Atari games. Everyone says Nintendo, but no.

  • @xxpandamidknightxx Nintendo did make a home version for the NES, but it must have been short lived and I believe it was not around the time that the Arcade version or Sega version came out.

  • @rexx1234567 Well people do not understand exclusively made or just came out on. I know Atari and Mindscape were joint because of the third party history Atari had back from 1976-1984, but in a sense, Atari made the game though. I do remember the NES, that one was subpar to the original.

  • @xxpandamidknightxx Makes sense.

  • @xxpandamidknightxx the NES version was made by TENGEN right?

  • @AlirazaVideoGames Yes, it was. TENGEN was a third party company for Atari and Namco.

  • memories.. i played this arcade 15yrs ago!!

  • I remember playing this game at Chuck E. Cheese's.

  • Watch for cross traffic.

  • Sensors detect fuel globes.

  • Can somebody help me here. I'm searching for an sega megadrive version of this game. But I'm beginning to wonder if it an European megadrive version was ever made?

  • @henli02 There was a version for the Genesis/Mega Drive, but it wasn't released in Europe.

  • @HardWiredGaming Damn... :( btw, thanks for the information!

  • I remember playing this on Arcades. It was very fun for it's time.

  • One of my favorite things to do was hit the Nitro just before the end of a stage. Different ending animation, and the lady in the computer likes you. Ha ha ha!

  • what the fuck is this piece of shit?

  • @trollingtheweb one of the best arcade games from the late 80's.......thats all

  • you can find it on cpc emulation , sounds are differents and animation is slower but well

  • God I miss this game. If anyone knows where to find it in Texas, PLEASE let me know. Oh and I would totally beat all of you- especially the dude playing it in this video. Thanks for posting this.

  • ITS LIKE STUN RUNNER

  • I cant control the car.

its flies left to right wildy.

Ive tried to configure the controller in mame.. bu tno use.

how do i do it please?

  • I missed how 80s this game was. I always wanted the arcade in my home to sit in it and play the night scene! Thanks for the upload!

  • @valleygirlhepkat And I'm sure there's someone out there who cares about your opinion, you drooling reject. Unfortunately for you, it's not me.

  • Comment removed

  • @ihp0ts Bye.

  • Can anybody tell me how I am supposed to get this game to show up on any mame emulator? I have downloaded all of them and they show up as files missing.

    Help

  • I had just bought this game! Its is fun and awesome!

  • Somebody needs to update this game for the new millenium.

  • If only I could get all my quarters back

  • en la final de este juego se choca contra un arbol??

  • where did you find the missing CHD file for this game?

  • Fuck yeah! In 1988 me and my buddy spent about 20 bucks (of Moms money)beating this game on vacation in Seaside Oregon.

  • i found a road blasters arcade game at this dumpy arcade at the beach its a sit-in arcade cabinet but in horrrible cosmetic condition with the seat cushion completely gone, just the board is left, however the game itself is working and thescreen is good shape, should i try to buy it and restore it? is this a popular game because i have no expeirence buying/selling arcade games

  • @gamerguy425 KLOV info says that Roadblasters is "very common" - 72 out of 100 for non-rarity. Still, you shouldn't worry about that - if you think you can make that cabinet look good again, then go for it.

  • i used to have all the matchbox toys back in the 80's

  • I played this at the local Show Biz pizza place as a kid some 20ish years ago! Amazing game one of my favorites there!

  • Holy crap! It's been FOREVER since I've seen this game.

  • @ydnab

omg this game is at a arcade near my home

    it rocks

  • I kick ass at this game

  • the final is the tree???

  • do any programmers know how i can achieve the mode 7 effect like in this game?

  • Wow, just that simple sound effect at the beginning, seeing that red car turned sideways and the futuristic bubble city looming in the distance brings back a ton of memories. Yeah, the game was pretty hard once the car started out with an ounce of gas in the beginning, but boy this trumps anything they make today.

  • where can i get this game?

  • Everyone always thinks this game is a breeze when they see it until they actually play it and realize just how hard it is as the levels get higher and higher and the situations harder and harder to deal with as your fuel is running out all the while. This is a hard game for sure, still fun though for it's time.

  • That car has to be the least fuel efficient vehicle I have ever seen.

Eiher that or the people re fueling it are cheap asses and don't want to pay for more than a buck to re fuel the car.

  • @Nintendavin

Yeah I always used to think this as a child.

Why didnt they put a bigger tank in the car. They knew it was going to potentially be a long mission. They should have prepared properly for it rather than relying on getting extra fuel along the way. Poor planning. Ok game though.

  • I'm a big fan of this game, and it's successor, 'Hydra.' Atari did make some fun, albeit challenging futuristic racers back in the day.

Thanks for uploading footage of the arcade version. Don't worry about the 'detractors' in here.

  • sorry but i have to agree with nightowl.. man you suck at this game. I used to routinely get up to lvl 40 back in the day as a kid. I dare say I'd be even better now.

  • NeuralNetProcessor: And I'm sure there's some alternate universe where I give a damn about your opinion.

  • @HardWiredGaming GO DIE

  • @berry67854 You first.

  • by all means upload the footage, i'd love to see some more videos of this game, til then stfu...

  • @NeuralNetProcessor Dude, he's not trying to show how bad ass he is at this game, he's just showing the fucking game. He's posted an ass-ton of old games and thats awesome. If you wanna prove your badassitude at Roadblaster then POST IT YOURSELF

  • nightowl8936: Man put your e-penis away before commenting. What a waste of bandwidth.

  • I still remember being 6 years old and playing this constantly at Chuckie Cheeses.

  • Same here. :D

  • I love this game

  • I only got to Rally 16 on this game. :( I miss this game.

  • I like this. I would compare this to Knight Rider though.

  • Is there a walkthrough I could find. I always wanted to see how it ends.

  • Nordine Attig

  • I like the intro music.can you add it please?

  • What's with the 12

  • Mr1983gayboytommy: 12 is the "rally number". In other words, it's the level number.

  • Weren't you on the first level though?

  • EnigmaHood: You get to choose your level at certain points, including the start of the game. I chose the option with some hair on its chest - level 11.

  • Thank you for posting this. This is the greatest Video game ever. I could get to level 43 as a teenager. It would take me 3 hours and 4 bucks in quarters. most of them spent on levels 41-43. It is near impossible to bet past those I could not. I sure would have loved to see level 50. I do not know if any one ever did. You would probably have to be a real race car driver to.

  • I'm sure it wasn't as unplayably fast as this.

  • jazzyjonty: Actually, it's not that fast, the video's just kind of jerky. Old computer + heavy system requirements for emulators and recording programs = crappy framerates.

  • Kinda like Mad Max.

  • I pumped so many coins into this thing, never got anywhere near the end.

  • Yeah - gutting when you don't catch the aux weapons...nice to see this game again. Apparently nightowl8936, if you completed all 50 levels you won a t-shirt!

  • Don't you hate it when you run out of fuel right before the finish line?

  • Yeah.

  • i wanna see someone complete rally 50 and finish road blasters. I have a feeling if I wanna see it, I probably have to do it myself.

  • the 2 awesome things about roadblasters was

    1. the sit-down cabinet and 2 being the short-lived matchbox cars based on this game
