  • I recently got final cut pro x for my lowest end late 2009 iMac, and it runs kind of slow. Uses 1.5 of my 4gb of RAM!! The computers also not the fastest after Lion. This should help if I upgrade it to 8. No? SO EASY(:

  • The Late 2009 model iMacs can accept up to 16GB of RAM

  • Thanks so much! This vid tutorial really helped a lot:)

  • I just upgraded my 2011 21.5 iMac with OWC memory but pushing it in was pretty tight, is this normal? my computer is up and running and showing 8GB right now though. Just wanted to check because in the video the memory seems to snap much easier than it was for me. The memory that came with it seemed to snap a little easier also. - Thanks

  • i wish the narrator would do an audiobook, i could fall asleep to his voice

  • hi, is the Kingston Apple 8GB Kit (2x4GB Modules) 1066MHz DDR3 SODIMM iMac and Macbook Memory (KTA-MB1066K2/8G) compatible with this late 2009 imac?

  • @MrZeJohn That ram should be compatible as long as its 204-pin

  • hey, in order to boost the memory, can i just insert 2 more memory sticks (that complies with the requirements) and not replace the 2 that are already in there and add another 2 more as shown in the video?

    Thanks!

  • @zeewhy1996 As the video is intended as a learning tool, we show how to both remove and install memory in the iMac. If your iMac came with only the two base modules and you're looking to just add two more modules, you certainly can do so without removing the original memory.

  • Used this video to learn how to upgrade my 27" iMAC from 4 GB to 8 GB. Everything went smoothly and took about 5 minutes total. One thing I found out though, when I removed cover, there was a LOT of dust, so folks, you might remove cover, clean out dust etc. no matter if you alter your RAM or not. Great video, thanks!

  • Can any RAM module work with this (Not just Apple ones)?

  • Like a dozen others, OWC starts at the wrong place, therefore if things work out Okay, it's an accident, especially or 4-memory slot iMacs. Should have started SHOWING the 'Memory' on "About this Mac", THEN the improper mixing of 1, 2, and 4 Gig modules can be avoided by explaining proper "pairing".

  • @ChasFAdams I am sorry, but you are incorrect twofold in your comment. 1) The iMac Late 2009 can use 2 GB or 4 GB RAM SO-DIMMs of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM in each slot - 1GB modules should not be used. 2) these machines do not require "pairing" of the memory, thus it was not mentioned in the video.

  • ur vids are amazing. im subbing. how do i setup dual displays on my mac mini?

  • @MegaComputerGenius The latest Mac mini (model ID macmini3,1), as shown in this video, has two video out ports. One is the Mini-DVI, the other a Mini DisplayPort output. Simply use the correct adapter. A Mini-DVI to DVI adapter is included with the Mac mini, but many combinations are available between Mini-DVI / Mini DisplayPort and DVI / VGA / HDMI depending on the monitor you would like to use. For earlier versions of the mini, we also offer a USB connectivity option.

  • @OWCmacsales i have a g4 i got for christmas. how do i do tht?

  • @MegaComputerGenius Please give us a call, we'd be happy to help. 1(800)275-4576.

  • What size of the screw driver fit?

  • @musiceric 0:27 A #2 Phillips screwdriver.

  • thx

  • hi, OWCmacsales

i upgrade my imac 27 from 4gb to 8gb but my computer won't start up....it's making a beeping noise.......

  • @yiaxiong2009 The beeping noise is telling you there is something wrong with the memory. Try reinstalling the memory again - it may be as simple as the modules not being seated fully. If that doesn't work, feel free to call our tech support at 1-800-275-4576 and they can assist further.

  • I have the 27 inch with 4 gigs and Im thinking about adding another 4 gigs for a total of 8, youd that make a difference in boot up time?

  • The narrator sounds exactly like G-Man from Half Life 2!

"Rise and shine Mr Freeman, rise and shine"

  • Just to add to this video, please be aware you order the right RAM. I recently bought the 'wrong' RAM for my White MacBook, and because it had a different power output, it apparently damaged the HDD as when I booted it up, I was just left with Beeps. Luckily I was still in AppleCare, but it was a valuable lesson :)

  • GR8 Vid - Easy peasy lemon sqeezy, Happy Dayz ;-)

  • how many slots does this iMac have? four? two?

  • @kevinwashere12345 The Late 2009 models (21.5" iMac & 27" iMac) have four memory slots.

  • @OWCmacsales Do you know how many the march 2009 models have?

  • @shouldigetit The Early 2009 models (20" iMac and 24" iMac) have two memory slots that can accommodate up to two 4GB memory modules for a total of 8GB of memory.

  • sso easyyyyy

  • Thanks for the video! Im thinking of doing the same to my low-end iMac!

  • informative as always! thanks
