Actually, Hitler watched this movie twice. Chaplin made this early in the war. He later said that if he had known all the monstrosities Hitler would go on to commit, he would never have made the film, or at least not in the way he did.

and the way I got it, is that, he is one of those ppl, who thinks that Israel , or Jews r the source of greatest evil that we face today , and that the Jews run everything.... @tepstolog you should study his case! you can learn very much about the germans and what really happend in WW II ... the truth will come :) and I really don't know everything and I can be wrong, but at this point, I think Hitler fought the same enemies as we are fighting today... and the picture we get from media and official history is just wrong... and you aren't even allowed to discuss this topic ^^ that's when you should start to question the whole situation...

@Hirnhacke Well I agree with you on one thing, hitler could be defined as the man of the 20th century. In the same way one would describe the Machine Gun as the invention of the 20th century, terrible, but was one of the defining factors. Hitler wanted peace yes, but only because it suited his tactic of a quick peaceful takeover of an area of a land, so the infacstructer would still be of use. He only invaded poland because he didn't believe the british or french would not attack.

Chaplin made this early in the war. He later said that if he had known all the monstrosities Hitler would go on to commit, he would never have made the film, or at least not in the way he did.

What I love about this film, it that it's basically Chaplin making fun of Hitler. It's like he's saying "Are you serious? We're really going to let this clown take over Europe?"
