As far as the strength in numbers argument goes, why not ask if he likes Vanilla Ice music? Apparently in 1990 MILLIONS of people bought his album. Does not make it good music....
@Aizacc84 OK last reply I will give. I thought I was pretty clear, but apparently not. Man "invented" god. Something has to exist for it to actually be created. If you want to argue more, send it to my inbox, and if it makes even less sense I will not respond.
About a month ago I met up with a devoted Christian. Being the atheist that I am, we naturally got into a heated debate. It got to the point where he was literally out of arguments and desperate. As a coward, he told me he was fed up with my ramblings, and began to leave the room, stating that he had the right to leave. By this point, at least 20-ish people had gathered around to watch us argue. I decided to cash in on the moment and end on a speech straight from a corny movie...
@thebestusernameeva ... I said across the room, "If you do this, you'll only prove my point, and reveal yourself as the coward I know you are..." "...This isn't you expressing your right to leave. This is you expressing your inability to accept facts." "... You have the right to leave, but when you have failed to meet the burden of proof, don't use this as an excuse to just flee." Having gotten the last word, I thought "Fuck, I wish someone was recording!" Since then I haven't heard from him.
one thing for sure. the believers don't have a solid proof of a God and always throw the questions back asking the non-believers to dis-proof God and yet still goes around claiming God is true when they have no solid proof.
The point about bringing up the WMD in Iraq is that it was yet another instance in a long line of cases (UFOs, big foot, loch ness monster) where 1) people were really really sure they were right in their beliefs and 2) there was really really no good reason to believe these things. Stop making that same stupid mistakes over and over.
@lewisner hey man, I was raised in a Texas town of 500 people and, as a result, have a heavy southern accent. I say y'all all the time. I oppose this religious BS. Just sayin'
@PSNnightmare (A)gnosticism refers to claims of knowledge, not belief. In atheism, there are agnostic atheists and gnostic atheists, there are also (a)gnostic theists, deists, etc. etc.
We were not "put" on the earth and we certainly do not have a purpose. We are a result of coincidence. IMO everything that we can't control is coincidences.
@cjdragon1988 Atheist bother to listen to their ramblings and rate accordingly. They can't handle the voice of dissent, therefore not many browse the atheist channels. Now you have the reason why atheists score better in religious tests than the religious.
@TheFashionbugs It's the 21st century, we know IQ is a poor indicator of intelligence, and trying to practice eugenics based on language is disturbing. im all about the school part though!
Aren't Ashley and Russell your least favorite The Atheist Experience hosts? They look like a couple of knuckleheads? Are they brothers? They completely avoided this guy's last question! They just cut him off and went to the next caller and avoided a huge argument! Perhaps this is how the atheist continues to hide from God. It is my belief that it is man that hides from God, not the other way around. The atheists are just circumambulating the truth of the matter, and here is another good example!
@Historymajor44 What I meant is when it gets into these deep metaphysical arguments, the atheist, in most cases, will dismiss what's being said with some kind of justification or in this example, completely ignore it altogether. And obviously this show deals with the petty issues concerning religion, they never address the deeper aspects about religion or theosophy, for that matter.
@Hanahleia I agree with you that this show doesn't go very deep in some aspects about religion but I would not necessarily call them petty. I'm sure they were trying to get to all the callers though and not put someone on hold just to run out of time and upset that person who could have had an intriguing thing to say. Having said that, as an atheist I also wished they stayed and talked to the guy. Also I'm intrigued on what you mean by how you said atheists hide from god, could you elaborate?
@Historymajor44 I come from an eastern religious background, and the goal of Buddhism is the extinction of ego. This is the veil that hides one from God, and most people live through the function of ego and even hold it to the highest valuation. Meditation is one way of drawing aside this veil, meditation is the annihilation not only of will but of all effort or desire for effort. The cessation of self-consciousness which is the end of the ego. Then, one can resonate with the mind of God.
I think every single answer the hosts of this show should give every single caller is "Please read a book. There is a great book on evolution that will answer your question...there is a great book on physics that will answer your question...there is a great book on cosmology that will answer your question... "
Wasn't this the same logic that led to a trillion dollar war - can you prove the WMDS don't exist? How many times do we have to make the same mistake over and over before we learn anything? Burden of proof. Sheesh.
@nosuchthing8 Not that I want to debate the Iraq war with anyone right now but you have to remember that it wasn't just about WMD...that was one of 4 reasons they gave the media. Going in a stopping Saddam was a long over-due mission that they did have the ok for. It was just odd timing to go there instead of after Bin Laden immediately.
@RawrItsJuul Um, there is no god, men created the idea of god, so therefore you believing in the boogey man created atheists. In all actuality "atheist" should not be a term. The fact that an idea of god is still pushed so harshly is the reason for that term. Prove your god and the term "atheist" will dissapear.
@MrDajdawg I cant seem to find my comment so I dont know what I said, still I can assure you I dont believe in god nor do I find the idea of some divine savior plausible, if I stated something that looks like I do it was probably sarcasm. Because I cant read back what I've said I cant know for sure who's to blame, so in that case I'm sorry for the misconception.
Actually I'd say any bitching about the religious right is COMPLETELY justified. Those theocrats shouldn't even exist, and religion has no place in politics whatsoever.
Begone religious right. Go back to humping your cousins or whatever you where doing before you reared your ugly empty heads. No more politics for you ever.
As for this caller though.... it's amazing how some people's brains seem to be these vague confusing swirls of utter nonsense.
@TheSkunkCat : I agree, but if I had to guess, the caller had never really thought about religion and was desperately trying to remember arguments others had made.
@weatrga Nice try but the "Book of Dragons" clearly states in Chapter 1 verse 4: All Green Dragons have the ability to become invisible as well. Therefore if there is an invisible dragon it MUST be Green. I know this because the Book of Dragons says so.
@ahhhhjjjj That's silly. That was before the Great Flight, where it was discovered that "the Blue Dragons thus hid from mortal sight", Chapter 5 Verse 13.
Obviously that means Blue Dragons also learned how to become invisible.
I'd think that when they were freed down there, when slavery was abolished, that the ridiculous religion the slave owners had given them would be the easiest thing to get rid of.. But instead they became even more christtarded than the slave owners were? F/&king incredible!!
@waterandphotons1 Coming from being raised as a Christian and an now an outspoken atheist, I can say it's more that it's an issue of indoctrination. Kids are very impressionable, and telling them things as a kid and threatening them with eternal torture will make a long-lasting effect in their brain. Plenty of Christians are perfectly rational, but either they're indoctrinated to not question or they're afraid to question because they're scared of what they'll find.
i think atheists are basically winning this debate every time and hopefully sooner then we expect, religion will be classed as fiction in most schools
"Ain't no... ya all." What stop stop stop. Fuck. This guy sounds so ignorant just from the start.. Learn proper grammar before arguing your beliefs against people with different views.
@waterandphotons1 it's more circular logic that just reinforces itself, IMO. if you are right though, there is still hope, I had this particular form of brain damage (religious indoctrination at a young age) and used logic to fix it ^_^
They can't get this through their thick skulls. There's nothing to prove when we say we don't believe in the existance of god. It's kind of like the "why do you hate god?" question I see sometimes. I don't hate god because I don't believe in him. I can't prove that I don't believe in him because there's nothing to prove! I can actually back up (but not prove) my statement that I don't believe in the Judeo-Christian god - the story is too fucking rediculous.
Caller: "I'm the type of person...you gotta show somebody at least...show them somethin' to back it up."
Yes, his evidence is a 2,000 year old book that has been repeatedly modified and translated through several languages...and is also riddled with a plethora of stories which are similar in absurdity to fairy tales.
Seems strange that he dismisses belief in the host's green dragon.
@xplisboa Christians claim that everytthing needs a creator, So who created God? They'll obviously give you an excuse that God didn't need a creator! He always existed or some bullshit like that.
Love the show. My only problem is the hosts talk over the callers as much or more than the callers talk over the hosts. lots of good information is missed because of that.
I wonder if Clifton knows how to tie his own shoelaces! Clifton is a mindless religious robot that is told how and what to think. Feel sorry for religious zombies like this because they can't think for themselves. Can't believe they believe such irrational garbage like the bible and the Hebrew Mythology god.
@cycorealm35 i agree with you that a believer's rationale is mind-numbingly painful, however, humility is needed when dealing with this phenomena. clifton is simply a person who has been fed this poison week after week since he was able to think and speak, and hasn't had anyone close to him either question or challenge his core beliefs. it isn't so much a believer's credulity which keeps them constrained; it is there trust in the person who first implanted it, e.g. their parents.
God is a spirit, an immaterial conscious being. All things in the universe consists of matter and/or energy, so if God isn't matter, is energy by definition. Energy is the capacity to do work, is eternal, omnipresent, wasn't created and can't be destroyed, can create matter, was the only thing present before the BB, and the energy required to make the universe must had been powerful. All these match Biblical descriptions of God. Therefore is plausible that God exists.

Why is it that so many of your callers are so dumb?
Are there any intelligent theists out there..?
jagara1 3 months ago
i think atheists are basically winning this debate every time and hopefully sooner then we expect, religion will be classed as fiction in most schools

For some unknown reason, I dont feel that caller got the analogy of the dragon..

I wouldn't say that all of these callers are crazy, they do have alot of silly ideas but not really crazy.
Except the caller in #1, he's as nutty as squirrel shit.

Just because the human mind regularly deals with events that have beginnings
and ends does not mean that there is a beginning and end to everything.
Just because people make things for their needs has nothing to everything magically
coming into existence by a super mind. Because every mind has a brain means
that proposing a mind without a brain contrary to reality.

After watching these videos, I am amazed that Christians always utter the SAME arguments...They dont seem to learn anything...

"No, you have NOT had a personal experience with my dragon"
That has got to be the first time that sentence has been uttered.

I like how religious people use the same skeptical, derisive tone for "athiest", "evidence" and "evolution".

Seems strange that he dismisses belief in the host's green dragon.

if we were made by a god... who the fuck made that god???????
xplisboa 4 months ago 2
@xplisboa Christians claim that everytthing needs a creator, So who created God? They'll obviously give you an excuse that God didn't need a creator! He always existed or some bullshit like that.

Love the show. My only problem is the hosts talk over the callers as much or more than the callers talk over the hosts. lots of good information is missed because of that.

I wonder if Clifton knows how to tie his own shoelaces! Clifton is a mindless religious robot that is told how and what to think. Feel sorry for religious zombies like this because they can't think for themselves. Can't believe they believe such irrational garbage like the bible and the Hebrew Mythology god.
cycorealm35 4 months ago 41
