Before the advent of digial recording, we used 2inch analog track tape. If you're careful not to make too many passes on the same track, you can record clean perfect audio that sounds like you're slipping into a warm bath. At 24bit 192kHz, with good tube pre amps and converters, you can achieve the same quality with cleaner results. (Example of clean audio.. listen to Fleetwood Mac's album; "Rumors" and see if you can tell if it was recorded digital or analog.) :D

i´ve worked with pro tools, logic, dyaxis, and others, but i can truly say that nuendo ando cubase are way better... and if you want to set up a home recording studio, cubase is really the right choice, quality and price ;-)

it just won't work anymore. I've had people who know a lot about computers and Cubase look at my set-up, and no-one can figure out why the MIDI doesn't work. It doesn't work on my Laptop either, and I've tested everything. My Trition Keyboard is ok, tried different soundcard, different Cubase disc - no-one knows whats wrong, and although I can't ay 100% that it's Cubase, it's looking that way :(

As much as this guy is a bit of a joke(intentional or not) ProTools IS still the standard. HD3 systems are the standard(aside from 2" tape). As much as Cubase and Logic are also widely used, neither have the power of a full on HD3 system. Mainly because of the hardware. 9 DSP processors per card. That's a lot of plugin power with few hiccups.

This guy is lol. LE is fine. The internal pre-amps by focusrite kinda suck, but there are plenty of entry level pre-amps that represent a vocal or instrument clean and crisp without adding warmth or digital artifact. If it's warmth you're looking for, there are plenty of great analog emulator plugins (McDSP makes some good shit) that you can use to "warm" things up. A little compression and EQ go a long way too. Analog is great, but digital is inevitable, and doing a GREAT job.

No that isnt the way its always been done. The old analog tube stuff wasnt as you put "clean" or as he put "flat as a pancake", it all had its warm/gainy sound built in, you didnt have the option of a truly naked clean signal, like you do in pt (or most daw's). The plugins do come close, but they are not exact.
