it might be dated but i believe Ken Russell was ahead of his time and drew on the old world that still is an embodyment of british culture and Psyche. Hats off to him!

Enjoyed it since i was 11 and i remembered when i was a kid i saw the trailer to this on a video and even had one of those horror movie stickers that shine. The main vampiress is quire sexy even if she needs to shave her pits, do you like how these vampires are part snake-part vampire creatures? they don't roast in the sunlight and they can be killed through the heart. The Vampiress is considered the origin of vampire lore in this movie.

@Johnlindsey289 I saw this on video back in 1989 and it became an instant favorite of mine. The vampiress is smokin hot even with her hairy pits, which don't really bother me too much. Must be the frenchman in me. lol. I must admit that i quite like the sexy idea of snake vampires that don't roast in the sun but still have sharp fangs and suck blood.

@qwtrerry ~ Yes. There is, indeed, a humongous serpentine creature, worshipped as a god, Dionin, by Lady Marsh, the vampyress character in the tale. He needs to be fed people, hence the necessity to sacrifice to him living quarry. That's the whole significance to that ancient mosaic unearthed on the estate seen in this trailer. Cheers ~ (•8-D

The Vampire creature in this movie is considered to be the origin of the vampire legends and her snake-vampire folks bite people to turn them into snake-vampires but can't be killed by sunlight but stake in the heart and they do suck blood. You glad they don't sparkle?
