Yes, you can play with the standard controller, a dance mat, or even a Dreamcast Keyboard! There is a special game mode called "Typing of Fury" in which you have to type single letters as they scroll up the screen. Probably the most difficult mode in the game.

I know these are old comments, but I'll reply anyway. The game does not specifically support the DreamParaPara controller, but as long as it inputs the same as a regular control pad, it will function along those lines. No guarantees!
