  • back before they dropped class and started using the small engine. this thing is pure 427 power

  • lol i played that same car and same track on gt5

  • 2 dislikes = 2 Aston Martin fans are hating cause their DB9Rs don't sound this god damn good.

  • Man, that sounds good.

  • the restricted C6.R runs 595hp. without the restrictors they can make anywhere between 775-850hp on the same engine alone.

THANKS FOR THE RIDE ALONG :D

  • @urbandestruction With that type of restriction I wonder how flat the powerband curve is :]

  • AMAZING

  • if you own a corvette Charlie Sheen would say your a winner!!!

  • Wooooooooow this is real

  • I call this a natural high *drools*

  • does anyone else think the gear change sounds too fast to be manual. or maybe the guys just incredibly fast at shifting

  • @kungfuninja55 ....it's a seqeuntial tranny man....uses cog engagement instead of synchronizers. It's a manually shifted tranny but doesn't use a clutch during shifts....just to pull off from a standstill and use reverse.

  • @kungfuninja55 Its sequential manual...

  • just got a warm all over fuzzy feeling ........ eeehhhh !

  • Either the C5Rs are speedy or that LMP2 is slow

  • @CobraMarty

The thing about Le Mans - the LMP2 cars are allergic to it for whatever reason at least in the years of this Corvette C6-R. Yeah, they weren't really quick or reliable as they are now. That must have been a P2 car.

  • Polyphony with Gran Turismo needs to record this and listen to it over and over. Maybe if they do they will stop trying to make an American car sound Japanesse.

  • @ALLRacingTV well said my friend ...

  • @ALLRacingTV Heard! The only cars they've come close to (american) in GT5 are the Corvette Z06 and ZR1, and when I upgraded my Z06 with racing modifications.. I was dissapointed in the sound. NO V8 at all! More like a small 4 cyl. tuner. Some of their sounds needs some more work, ESPECIALLY american cars.

  • Damn that sounds so good.

  • My c5 sounds just about like this and I drive it on the street ;-)

  • man it would be cool if corvette racing had a p1 class race car with a corvette powered engine

  • @isaiah213 Corvette was quite interested in the LMP "Evo" (similar to the late 90's half-GT, half-prototypes like the Porsche 911 GT1-98) that was in the talking in around 2007. They even made a wind tunnel model ready... Unfortunately other manufacturers weren't interested in those type of regulations so the idea was dropped.

  • @deggis4 they dopped the idea that sucks cuz i would love to see them go and kick audi's ass

  • @isaiah213 Door is still open with the current and future regs. I've understood the GT1/GT2 program was almost shut down during last year's financial crisis, luckily it wasn't but it's obvious that spending a lot more money on LMP program is completely out of the question for GM/Chevrolet...

  • @deggis4 well i did see a LMP1 concept on google with a closed roof and it looks nice

  • nice to see some U.S. muscle on the track, 2 C5R run down lol

  • imagine them without the ristrictions

  • @rt881389 be some ridiculous acceleration with 725hp without the restrictor plate..

normally 570hp at 5400rpm and 620 ft/lbs at 4400rpm... though a good thing they have restrictions otherwise we would see a lot more deaths on the track.

  • @ProjectSOR the size of the restrictors on the new one is insane, like making a runner breathe through a straw. Also, the restrictors have gotten too small, resulting in massively oversized packs

  • @ProjectSOR I thought it ran 600 hp?

  • @rt881389 The it could easily produce 700+ HP. without the C5.R produced 600 HP.. Which is still quite a lot of power

  • @CobraMarty 600 hp is quite powerful, and with a low weight, it might even still be slightly faster than the fastest supercars we've got today (they do weight lots more). So, compared to the LMP1s they look slow, but they're faster than you think.. then it puts things in perspective of how fast LMP1s really are. I'd be JUST fine with being a GT1 race car driver...

But without restrictors I've heard the Katech engine that sits in this C5.R could produce 800 hp even. N/A !

  • @CobraMarty Yes this car would produce up to 800 hp and about 600 lb-ft torque

  • @CobraMarty our v8 super cars in aus have 650 hp in a touring car n.n ftw

  • IvanO 24h Le Mans

  • Comment removed

  • its not supercharged.....its a 427ci LS1 small block producing 595-620hp....

  • Comment removed

  • @MrBlackheart1986

great sound but this engine is naturally aspirated. I think the whine you hear is just the intake sounds

  • now i know.cool thanks for the info dude.

  • and a lil bit of gear whine in the sequential trans...

  • it's natural aspirated moron..

  • Comment removed

  • @paleboy25 Yeah! N/A American POWER!

  • ????WHAT?????????? supercharger??? hey buddy, THERE IS NO SUPERCHARGER!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I want to make my C5 sound same!!!

  • then you need kinsler fuel injection and a seriously big cam from katech......you might wanna invest in a MoTeC as well....and the exhausts, no cats, mufflers, long tubes, exhaust going straight out...

  • @teppili If it is legal to have that much sound on a streetgoing race car

  • i love that sound. orgasmic.

  • gotta love the sound of that v8

  • @elr2141979 Yeah... ANd the GT1 C6.R is even deeper a growl

  • amazing how similar it is my video from gran turismo 4 with c5r :)

  • sweet..

  • THis was on La Sarthe Curcuit if i'm not mistaken?

  • or course

  • @Chris666Warren

oh yeah, this is the French version of yeehaw - it's Le Mans's circuit de la Sarthe alright

  • by a prototype LMP car. They can scoot get to their top end quicker then the GTS now known GT1

  • i think i would damn near die if i heard this coming from behind me. heard because i'd hear it first. good thing it gives you a warning before it comes and tears your ass in half again

  • sound like a big tractor like it!!!

  • Its like the real life version of playing Gran Turismo. Awesome car, love how quick it shifts.

  • i really love this car, i'm a big fan of corvettes, the C5R ans the C6R

  • Its sounds .... BRROUUUHahahaHAHAHAHAH !!!!

    AWESOME :3

  • I hear this season will be the last year of Corvette Racing is this true or is Corvette Racing going to be racing in the GT2 Class in 2010?

  • Corvette racing for 2009 will race GT1 until and in Le Mans. All the ALMS races after it will be GT2. In 2010 I think there is going to be a slight reconstruction of the class system for ALMS so Corvette Racing is moving down to GT2 to comply with the new rules. That's what I remember reading.

  • What year is this from?

  • did they not put that checane in there because of the porsche and mercedes GT1 flipping at high speed? I think it should be a long ass straight, it would put more wear on the engines, which would result in probably more engineering.. and some killer passing manuevers by GT1 and P1 class cars. You would see who has the real horsepower.

  • Man the 911 GT1 never made a flip at Le Mans, think before you post nonsense.

One 911 GT1 flipped in 1998 during a FIA GT race.

  • it was Petit Le Mans in Road Atlanta not a FIA GT race. get your facts wright before you offend people.

  • Yeah youre right, I wasnt sure anymore.

I just wanted to say that it wasnt on Le Mans.

  • If the FIA and ACO realized that the bend after Tertre Rouge and the kink actually don't count for the total length of the Mulsanne (the actual straight isn't that long), they could remove the chicanes and we'd all see the true potential of the still potent 427.

  • that is how a corvette suppose to sound when speeding around those db9r and ferrari's chevys rule

  • AWESOME SOUND . BEST SOUND EVER

  • ok i look a twat i seen this car at le mans for last 8 years and i thought it was v12 as it challanges the v12 of the aston. so all credit to Gm.

  • The Best sound in the entire world . That`s how a car should sound , easily the best sounding V8 ever made . AWESOME SOUND

  • think thats awsome should check out the C6R inside lap of lemans. beautiful.

  • It's as near as dammit the same engine

  • yeah justa bit more deep in tone.

  • This is almost old school now, they allways did great at Le Mans.I hope the new rules dont influence the sound :-)

  • incredible, just incredible

  • goddammit i love this sound... the slight whistling of the compressor is awesome

  • The C5.R has no compressor. It's a 7 Litre Naturally Aspirated suction V8. Same with the C6.R

  • Its NA bro

  • its a v12

  • No, it's for sure a V8.

It was developed from the LS series from GM performance parts, originally a 6.0L but for racing they increased it to 7.0L

    An amazing engine indeed...

  • The engine was built by Katech Performance for Pratt & Miller racing. If I'm not mistaken, you can still purchase the exact engine. It's only around $25k. ;D

  • You're crazy ... its a raw muscle V8 Chevy engine ..

  • hahahahahhaha

  • someone needs to use these sounds to put together a mod for GTR2, it would be great

  • Some V8 gargling is always nice. ^^

  • No more. The GT1/GTS class is dead with the new Evo rules. The new GT1 will never be as fast as they were then.

  • This is how ALL onboard footage should be! NO COMMENTATORS talking crap!! Sweet sounds :)!!

  • What kind of transmission? Is it semi, auto, clutch, coverter?

  • i have a corvettec5r R/C

  • Sweet!

  • The C5R sounds mean but the C6R sounds..... they both sound Mean

  • That was with air restrictors on the intake. Does anybody know how much HP without?

  • According to Pratt & Miller (The people who engineer and develope the Corvette Racing engines) an unrestricted engine will be pushing about 850-900 horsepower :)

  • this car have around 700 HP as you told;)

  • I thought these things with the air-restrictors make around the 600hp mark not 700hp

    anyone know?

  • Yep what a fucking beast - see it go down Conrod?

  • WRONG, the C6R makes 590bhp@5400 so the C5R would probably make less than that.

700bhp with air restictors you guys are dreaming.

"Ive seen C5R motors without restictors running race spec cams on 100RON Shell Optimax Racing making around 720bhp"

  • Could make more without air restrictors, hah. I wonder why they couldn't just let them run without them in non-endurance races.

  • WRONG, the C6R makes 590bhp@5400 so the C5R would probably make less than that.

700bhp with air restictors you guys are dreaming.

"Ive seen C5R motors without restictors running race spec cams on 100RON Shell Optimax Racing making around 720bhp"

  • Actually Pratt & Miller prepare the chassis the engine is developed / designed by Katech

I have seen a C5R motor running on 100octane without air restrictors and a much more racier camshaft running around the 720bhp mark

So 900hp seems unachievable without going the forced indcution route. ps Im sure the block could take 900hp easily

  • Thunder powered by V8!

  • badazz. Just...damn.

  • Great sound of this american car.

  • DAMN! How fast do you think he was going down those straightways?

  • Just like Gran Turismo 4. The track looks and feels exactly the same.

  • its real.

  • this is real or its a game?

  • fu*#in sick i like this vid alot!!!!!!

  • Nothing compares to the sound of a big V8 Machine! Awesome!

  • BADASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    sick sick sick

  • lol nitrous.

man that Mulsane straight is breathtaking.

    thanks for posting this.

  • nitrous!? get real dude! This is a GT racer. What da fuck would you need nitrous for in an endurance race? This isnt a drag race....

  • EXELENT

  • Love that sound and Car!

    Corvette power!!

  • 2450lb vette plus over 600hp = AWESOME!!!

  • Guy this is the 24 Hours of Le Mans it is a endurance race. So with that being said why would he need to hit the throttle earlier its about setting a nice pace and hopefully staying out of trouble. Because of this car I became a 24 Hour Le Man fan no better sound than an American V8!!!!

  • the worst thing you can do is induce power-on-oversteer on cold tyres, he was probably trying to get some heat into the tyres, probably because he took a recent pitstop. if you got bigger and wider tyres, with a thick compound, it takes longer to warm them up.

  • not too mention the weight of the car...which is heavier than ur aston or any lmp

  • The driver needs to take lessons on throttle response! You scared boy or what?Your weak on turns maybe practice more on turn response!!Great car thogh, just needs a driver that fits it!

  • lets see you do better

  • yeah, im not sure which of the 2 vettes this is but hes on pace with the other and one of them won the race. so, yeah they definatley need to take lessons. jeez, some of the best drivers in the world i think they know what the hell theye're doin.

  • Yea, I agree. If he goes too fast, he might even fall out of the racing line, and 2nd it could also be during the first hours of the race where there's no need for rushing, or in the late hours where there's no need for rush if they've gained a big enough distance to the chasers

  • obviously the car and g-forces are a lot harder to cope with than you idiots think. Play GTR2 (racing sim) it should show what I mean :).

also, they might be trying to save the engine and tires. This is the 24 Hours of Le Mans by the way...

  • Except that gtr2 is really easy....

compared to 1. Which i liked a lot better, personally :)

  • i know me too :(. but most people play online in GTR2, so i got sucked in :P. also, i lent my copy to a friend...dumb old me!

  • A similar comparison can be made with the more modern American iron. The street cars are okay...but the racing versions are amazing and routinely victorious (C5R, C6R, Viper GTS, etc.).

  • Excellent point

  • Excellent point about the disparity between American production cars and race cars. If you drive the old vintage 60's gear, the chassis dynamics of everything in street spec (except the early Shelby models) are garbage. When prepared to racing specifications (such as the Boss 302 in T/A form), it's another world altogether as they make excellent racecars.

  • Americans make excellent race cars, just a pity their road cars aren't so great - except for their supercars which are great.

  • I have to agree also...and im american. As Top Gear do mention when they review US cars they complain about the plastic dashes and such..and i say i hate it too. It makes the car look like crap. Other than our big blockers and race cars US dont have any truly outstanding RECENT cars that i would go out and drive.

  • Go check out Cadillac CTS buddy.

  • Great car, fast, reliable, but still, tacky inside, it's as if the dash is made from "quality street" wrappers.

Mind you, i'd have a big V8 over any import anyday, CHARGER FOREVER!

  • May I remind you, that this is a racecar, therefore I don't believe they were thinking of the dash's quality...

  • I was replying to the guys CTS comment ;-)

Race cars, the only thing that should be quality is the rollcage, wheels chassis and engine;)

  • Oh... I see :)

  • imagine an AUDI R10 sounding like this. MAN! Awesome sound of power! Nothin comes close to sounding as good as a big block American V8.....cept a small block high reving Euro V10 or V12

  • Live is devastating, the C5R as the C6R, expecially when you hear them in full throttle and are 'closed' between pits and granstands.

Only a JuddV8 is more louder, in LMES 2007.

This year i ear them in the frontpits grandstand of Monza.

Anyway the best GT sound is achieved by the Murcielago R-GT, really 'Screamy'. ;)

    I Forget.... diesel cars SUCKS!!!!

  • that's just plain wicked - love it when you guys come over here to race!

  • Sweet...

  • yea. I love that V8 sound. That's how a race car is supposed to sound. raw american N/A power!

  • I LOVE THE SOUND OF THIS CAR
