This is a real sweet tune. Warners wanted CK to act/sing younger than her years; even younger than Mary, who was 24 in '95; CK was 42. It's what the market wanted. Dance hits w/ lots of rap stuffed in 'em. "Everywhere" 'Pain" "Never Miss the Water" "Somethin Deep" "Every Little Thing" "Your Love is all I Know" "Miles Blowin'" "You and I Are One" "Power"" Love Me Still" strong adult tunes, but no real focus among them & not teen friendly enough. You can deny it though, this tune is HOT FOR REAL!
CHAKA PRODUCED AN ENTIRE ALBUM ON WARNER BROTHERS RECORDS BUT DUE TO BAD KARMA AND ROTTEN POLICY WARNERS KEPT THE OWNERSHIP AND ORG. COPYRIGHTS FOR THE WHOLE ALBUM AND CHAKA THEREFOR WAS DESTINED TO BREAK UP THE RELATIONSHIP TO WARNERS CAUSE THEY DIDN´T WANNA GO IN HER DIRECTION OF THE COLLABORATION, SADLY CAUSE THIS WAS ACTUALLY A A QUITE JUICY FUNKY ALBUM CO-PRODUCED BY MESHELLL
. BUT STILL SOME A THE TRACKS LEAK OUT TO THE REAL WORLD AS IN HERE ON YOUTUBE..FOR ALL US CHAKA DISCIPLES
It was shelved because they kept telling Chaka they wanted her to give it a Mary J Blige feel, a more youthful feel. And she was like, 'if you want it to sound Mary-esque or youthful, then go get Mary or somebody else!' It was shelved, and Chaka left Warner Bros.
@EvilCarnisa That's idiotic. Chaka Khan is Chaka Khan. She doesn't have to sound like anyone, but herself. Too bad it was shelved, because this is a smooth, easy-listening track.
I can't understand why the album was shelved. This is such a terrific cut. By the way I heard " The Essential Chaka Khan" will be released soon. Look out for it!!Thanks for sharing!!

@AleekahTV the majority of the songs ended up on "Epiphany". Everything after "What Cha" is new, plus 'Love Me Still'
