  • As for her kittens, if they survive longer than 4 weeks it's usually a miracle. It's not her fault that she's this way...my Opala was abandoned by her "loving" owners at just 8 weeks and by the time she came into my life she'd been on the streets for two years. She was thin, she was sick and she was blind in one eye. The neighborhood kids routinely "played" with her by throwing rocks at her, running her down with their bikes and hitting her with sticks every chance they got.

  • She'd been pregnant at least 6 times and had as yet to have a litter survive into adulthood, and was as unhappy a cat as you'd ever see. She had no love for humans (after what she'd gone thru it's not surprising) but she wanted a home and to be loved so badly that she conquered her terror and "adopted" my husband and I after we'd found one of her babies and took it in. 2 yrs later, both are happy, healthy and adored, just as all creatures should be.....just as these kitties should be.

  • She may be "foul-mouthed" and "hissy", but if you had a life like her's, believe me.... you'd be a bit hissy too. Not many people show as much compassion as you and your kids do....for the most part, ferals in her situation are routinely injured and killed by neighborhood kids "having a bit of fun" and adults who treat them like vermin or worse. I could tell you stories that would curl your hair about what cats like her usually go thru...most of 'em don't live past the age of 3 years.

  • This colony of feral cats is comprised of the mom, two males, the two kittens in the video and two of four surviving kittens from a second litter. In the year we've watched over them, haven't seen any abuse. That ginger colored kitten is all grown up now and became my best buddy. Although there are probably others who feed them, they all get Iams and love and attention when they hang with us. Even the unpleasant mom...who hasn't been pregnant lately.

  • That's good to hear. As said, every creature deserves a decent quality of life, especially those in less fortunate situations such as these kitties. Too bad this case is an exception rather than the rule.
