I used the the compizFusion Settings Manager, increased the transparency on cube rotation then set a Linux Mint wallpaper as the background.

In regard to Linux distros your friend can try openSuSE, UBUNTU, and Linux Mint.

For some UNIX fun he can try FreeBSD.

I also use compiz but how do you make the pages separate while you have the cube? I mean how do you leave spaces between windows as you make cube? Which settings of compiz did you use?

YouTube really does not like posting URLs. Do a "Google" for "Linux Mint Daryna". That will get you to where you can download the latest version ISO.

That's what I'm running right now. I got rid of my dual boot and decided to go all the way Mint. But I get greedy and want EVERYTHING to run on it, so currently I'm working on getting my webcam & a decent editing app together.
