Thanks for takin' me along for the ride. So poignant for me; I came in search of Joni's Radio; 1st song I learned on my Git as 19-yr-old Hippi chick - thot I was plugged into the universe. Moved to the Beach & studied/worked days & smoked & sang w/equally deluded friends @nite. By 26 my guitar collecting dust & I was Yuppietown bound. At 41 my 1 & only child was born; now, @ 14, he's a truly gifted soul w/his own Git. Came 2 share her sound on slow ver so we can do this & others together.

It kills me that this isn't available on CD. So many of her live cuts are really unique and spontaneous. You get a much better taste of her sensibilities and humor. I'd take this over the studio version any day. Thank you Joni, for giving us these labors of love! :)

VooDoo, that's not a 12 string. Joni plays a lot in alternate tunings, and this particular song is on a regular guitar using an open D tuning (instead of EADGBE,  it's tuned to DADF#AD). That's how she gets that full, open ringing sound.

AND, I believe that's her Martin D-28, which was unfortunately stolen later. Joni said in an interview she's played on a lot of guitars, but she still misses that one, it was her favorite.
