  • Could I use that to sport photographing?

  • works with t2i? right i just bought one

  • your english sounds very german :D hahahaa.

  • which is better 55-250mm or 18-135mm? Please help.

  • @CristinaOcampo8 both are different lenses, it depends on what you need.

  • Would this be an alright lens for everyday use and macro work? thanks

  • Go Vols!

  • @youlolo2 lol mate. I am also a beginner but since no pros answered yet ill tell you There is no auto zoom on these lenses or cameras for that matter. You zoom by turning the lens with your hand and the camera will only do the autofocus.

  • hello i gust got the camera and i dont know how to zoom in plz some one tell me how to zoom in automaticly

  • should i buy eos 60d + 55-250? I have no other lenses

  • @Armixs Exactly my plan :)

  • You!!!! you have made me buy this lens... hahaha... thanks man... for a cheap lens this has give me very good photos.... thanks again!

  • are you singaporean?...

  • what is the true purpose of this lens

  • great lens i love mine!

  • Tennessee!!!

  • Good video dude!!! from Thailand!

  • @truknayr23 I thought I detect a Thai accent!

  • Ermm... lol keep on 'Erm'

  • very nice basic review.. keep it up. : )

  • is it ahrd to use this lens in lwo light ?

  • @eisontv this is not really a low light lens. but IS helps and you can bump ISO.

  • @ianhyk if you use a tripod with a long exposure, do they pictures come out clear with no noise?

  • Get it cheap here:

    cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220740843640#ht_1550wt_1139

  • would you recommend this lens for eos 550d video filming? or as the description says a 70- 200mm better for filming?.

  • I have a 500D too , is and and excelent a ``small´´ reflesh :D

  • Great review man. Thanks a lot.

    Singaporean here too.

  • Compatible with 1000D no?

  • @KvornanTheLafesta Of course it is....

  • Bro I just bought the lens and it has noise when, is that normal

  • does the front barrel rotates when focusing? pls answer ;) thank you!

  • @ericatregh1027 yes it does, unfortunately.=(

  • @ianhyk if i get this instead of the canon 18-55 kit lens is there anything that i will miss or does this do everything that the kit lens does better or at the same quality as the kit lens?? thank you!!

  • @macluvr6 this lens was designed to complement the 18-55 kit lens by giving you more zooming power, it's not meant to replace it as the focal lengths are completely different. Get the 18-55 if you're looking for a normal zoom lens for everyday photography.

  • Thank you, helped me understand my lens better. You mentioned about using this lens for macro photography with extension tubes. Information out there on the net is confusing. Can you please suggest the best macro extension tube for this lens and canon 18-55 mm lens at a reasonable price? I'll appreciate it :-)

  • @gratisfaction1212 i use the kenko automatic extension tubes.. i've done another video explaining extension tubes, maybe that'll help. note that you'll want the ef-s compatible version of the tubes.

  • WOW thank you

  • will this work on my 550d if im planning on getting it?

  • @VidPro95 of course it will!

  • Hey i have the canon REBEL XT. im very new to DSLR photography and i was wondering how you auto focus? you can zoom in or out by turning the rubber dial but when the motor started turning and lens began to retract by itself, what was that called? i tried this lens for my XT but when i tried to autofocus the lens did not turn and retract. it just shot the pciture

  • @UnidentifiedBogey you autofocus a lens by helf-pressing the shutter button on your camera. for this lens, when it autofocuses the focus ring moves and the lens extends/retracts slightly.

  • @UnidentifiedBogey . Yes that happened to me as well , i did not know that you had to look through the small viewfinder while you are in the menu for selecting shutter speed and apeture and that settings . Also look so the AF button is on AF and not on MF . And also press the shutter button down halfway and look where the red point is .

  • How much is this cost?

  • @macluvr6

    $329 Australian dollars.

  • is that works on canon7d? im planning to buy 55-250mm lens.

  • @stoneheart44 yes it does, fully compatible.

  • @stoneheart44 You own a Canon 7D asking that sort of question. More money then brains.

  • i just have the lens 2 days ago im very happy with the result

  • I have bought this lens a while ago. I am just a beginner when it comes to photography, and I don't like spending so much money on things I don't know much about. But gotta say that I am happy about the lens, the price/quality is really good. Mounted it on my Canon 500d (T1i in USA) and I think it's a nice addition to the 55mm kit lens.

  • u put your hands about 6 inches away from the lens...how the hell is it gonna focus.min distance for this lens is 1.1feet

  • Somebody please help me. I am in a Dilemma. I will be backing in India for 1 yr along with my Bicycle. I am very amature to the world of Lenses. Pls suggest me which one is better and why, canon ef-s 55-250mm IS or canon ef 75-300 USM or Sigma 70-300 APO super for my Canon EOS 1000D (Rebel XS)? I love to take any SUBJECT which are far away. My hands are not at all shaky. And i wont be carrying Tripod. Is Image Stabilizaer very important in Tele lenses? Thank You so much.

    Regards.

    K.

  • @dontmailme77 I personally think 55-250 IS is a better choice of the 3.. unless u're shooting in bright daylight, IS is going to help keep your ISO down and images sharp. but optically speaking, all 3 lenses are quite similar.

  • @ianhyk thank you so much for ur suggestion and also for ur precious time.

  • @dontmailme77

im quite new to dslr camera's so im not knowledgeable here but i do know IS image stabaliser is important to have especially with a telephoto, it would be ideal to buy yourself a small lightweight travel tripod. cant help you on which of the 3 are best, but try buy one with image stabaliser, it will help minimise camera shake especially when high zoom

  • @ModdingSpecial... He actually sounds more like he's from Barbados, that is an island accent... not German. But the video is helpful on deciding on a new lens.

  • haha that lens is awesome but it looks so ugly.

  • hi i just bought a lens like this one for my rebel xs , but i don't how to manege the zoom , the zoom is to little , what can i do , so i can get more zoom , do i have to move something in the camera body or what , thank u

  • the ''emh'' and ''aah''... purely Malaysian our the one beside , Singaporean.

  • if compared to the 75-300 which one do you think is better? with price taken into account.

  • thanks. you sounds like a typical singaporean haha.

  • Great video , thanks :D

  • plastic fantastic, err ...

  • Hey bro, thanks for the review. I got my Lens and actually im very happy with them. Very compact, very light, fast accurate AF and the price is great :D

  • I think you are german, aren't you ?

  • @ModdingSpecial LOL, i'm not Malaysian or German (?!) haha i'm Singaporean!

  • @ModdingSpecial

this guy comes really from germany, they have a strong german/english akzent

  • 'm getting both!

  • Malaysian? Singaporean?

  • yes, you can

  • Are you from malaysia??you sound Asian LOL,grat review and one question should i get this??some people say it's not really good,i'm using a Canon EOS 500D too =D keep up the good work kindly check out my channel too thanks!

  • Thanks! Nice review. My lens arrived today in the mail.

  • hi can i mount this lens in 1000d?thanks

  • @leslieperile sure you can :)

  • @leslieperile yes, you can

  • its weird hearing a much different accent from what we mostly speak..no pun intended

  • Ian, u mentioned that hoods are hard to find.

I dun really think so. I usually just email Cathay and they either alr have it or they can order one for u..

I want to ask if u would recommend this lens over the 70-300mm lens.

    Thanks!

  • @profezeur i'm glad that finding hoods aren't a problem for u, varies from lenses to lenses but this is my generalisation.

which 70-300 lens you're referring to? Canon one with IS? that is EF, while 55-250 is EF-S. if you're staying on Canon crop bodies, I'd say the 55-250 is a better deal, optics wise its quite on par.

  • @ianhyk I'm also Singaporean, so I'll recommend emailing cathay photo at their email address if u shld need anything, they give rather good quotes (as opposed to asking them over the counter, i've experienced it many times)... Anyway, thanks for the advice... I'm intending on getting a 50D.

  • thank you for the review

  • This and other efs's lenses 18-55is, 10-22, will work on a 1DMKII or full frame, leave me a message And I will send you the link to the PDF file which has all the mods.

  • like i said, this is a good lens to complement the kit. i can't decide for you which lens is best to buy next, but if you're looking for more zoom this lens is highly recommended.

  • should i get this first or buy other lenses? I'm using 18 - 55mm, but I wanna get more in shooting. what do u think?

  • i got a rebel xs that came with the standard 18-55 lens.. ive had it for about a year and ive wanted somethin with more zoom for a while now. what do i do? ive got about $300 to spend on a lense . whats the best i can get

  • I think hoods are important for 2 main reasons:

    1) Protection

    2) Reduces flare/glare.

  • nice review =D Im getting the canon 500d with the 18-55mm kit lens and this lens =]

by the way is lens hood really important?

  • yes. just make sure the tubes are canon ef-s compatible.

  • u said that ext tube can be added to it??

  • Nice and informative review.
