  • i never knew this song existed until my man was listening to it on his ipod one night and i looked up the video. have to say great job reba you are amazing i love this song as well as many others of yours

  • holy shit!

  • this deserves more than a million viewers, reba is incredible

  • thing song is sooo good

  • How come no one gets the song until they see the video. just listen carefully to the song its not hard to figure out!!

  • this song is discussed in the Quentin Tarantino film RESEVOIR DOGS

the old Vicki Lawrence version of course. Though i've understood the song...some of you can feel better...because when it's discussed in the movie...the character is talking about how he just figured out what the song's about LOL

  • Omg I finally got the story lol. I guess you have to see the video or read the lyrics

  • Atlanta Falcons lose 24-2...yep, the lights definitely went out tonight...

  • I absolutely love Reba!!! its 2012 an this song and, Fancy, are still in my top 10 favorite songs:)

  • My absolute favorite song & video, remember when it came out, awesome, talented singer

  • "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" is a Southern gothic song written by songwriter Bobby Russell and performed in 1972 by his then-wife Vicki Lawrence. Reba McEntire later covered it in 1991. Both versions are great, Vickie's when women were breaking new ground in music, and Reba's cover is just great.

  • Haha, good! I'm glad!!

  • Whoa... I've listened to this song many times, and I just now understood what was going on! Lol I'm just a little delayed....

  • @1goldHeart I didn't get it until I saw the video either so don't worry your not alone. LOL!

  • It took me 10years to understand the song but I got it now finally

  • I just watched the movie, Thought the video would clear things up........still confused. Loved both anyway.

  • i wonder if the video is based on a true story

  • yeah, talking over the lyrics is annoying

  • This music video is breathtakingly awful. It was bad enough when I heard those people talking between the lyrics, that's tacky, but then they STARTED TALKING **OVER** THE MUSIC, WHICH IS THE WHOLE RAISON D'ETRE FOR THE VIDEO IN THE FIRST PLACE! I mean, why not just make a damn short movie with dialogue if that's what you're going to do. Absolutely absurd how stupid some people can be. This video should be taken down.

  • @MattMangels u should get a life geeze sorry if u dont like actual story lines in songs, just half dressed people rubbing on each other, this is REAL talent and creativity i know that must be hard for u to understand--the characters speaking give more intensity to the song..damn

  • @bsangel93 You are sorely mistaken, I love this song. That's why I'm so upset that who ever made this video ruined it.

  • Hate the music Video.... it blocks the story the song tells.

  • if anyone can sing this reba is the one

  • I love this song by Vicki Lawrence, but in the performance of Reba just amazing!

  • Reba McEntire is awesome!!!!

  • Randy Travis at 2:28?

  • I love Diz song and IM BLACK!!! not many black ppl like Country! BUT I LOVE REBA SHES THE ONLY COUNTRY SINGER LISTEN 2..

  • I love this

  • i fucking hate country music but reba is one amazing singer.

  • i guess its a southern girl thing...bc down here if u mess wit someones family u mess wit them....heck i kno a few ppl in jail bc they did that 2 their brothers cheatin wives...it the only way us girls can take up for our big bros...i mean its like the brother beatin the heck outta someone who cheated on their sister...i cant help it if us gals r a little more sinister...lol

  • i dont quite understand the story. so she killed two people cuz one of them was cheating and her brother took the blame? can someone please expalin it to me. but it was a pretty video none the less :)

  • @Zabeeality she killed his brothers cheating wife and andy, who had slept with her brothers wife. they were together in andy's house

  • @syriana1 and andy was HER (reba's character) husband?

  • @Zabeeality fiance

  • @SuperLovebug8 oh ok thanks!

  • @Zabeeality her brother's girl was cheating on him with reba's fiance, andy, so she took it into her responsibility by killing her and andy, but her brother took the blame. he wasn't given a fair trial, so he died protecting his sister

  • "and his cheatin' wife had never left town, and that's one body that'll never be found you see little sister don't miss when she aims her gun!" - My favorite part of the song!!!

  • man this song realy made me cry

  • I love Reba. Always have :)

  • People should learn from Reba's example in this video not only did she sing great but her acting was on key and believable. She was simply amazing in this video. The story really fits with the song and is simply breath taking. Especially for the time the video was filmed in relation to the age they made her. One of my favorite videos of all time.

  • If all little sisters were this loyal there would be NO adultery... or at least NO adulterers... LOL...

For angstandapathy... Reba's songs have to be about 'Honkey Tonks and rednecks"... If you've ever been to Oklahoma you'd understand that... LOL...

Most of her songs do appear to be about sorry... 'Girl pain'... she always plays the victim in her videos... very interesting... she is very beautiful and has an incredibly beautiful voice... Wonderful performance by yet another talented Oklahoman

  • this is the worse make up job cheap bad cheap show pittyful no classs

  • @newfie235 u r a worthless basterd who spends all of his worthless life on youtube bein an asswhole

  • @newfie235<<<<my last post was to him XD

  • It's stupid anyway killing someone over adultery. She says "don't trust your soul to no backwoods southern lawyer" but she is as backwoods as they get if she feels the need to kill someone over a matter like that. That is what DIVORCE is for. I feel the singer was intended to be considered a hypocrite.

  • @fubukifangirl the song is about a sister trying to protect her brother since his wife is cheating on him and he wouldnt believe his sister when she said "she's no good" if he didnt believe his sister then he wouldnt believe anyone. so she killed them. no thats not right to do, but people dont think strait when protecting the ones they love. "don't trust your soul to no backwoods southern lawyer" isnt about "backwoods" its about the lawyer not being trustworthy. you clearly dont understand this

  • You, the singer says that the judge has bloodstains on his hands but I think the bloodstains are actually on HER hands. After all, she was responsible for both the deaths of her brother's wife and Andy and by killing Andy, she ended up causing teh death of her brother as well. It seems to me she's the true villain in the song and yet she blames the judge. Even if it was a "make-believe" trial, it would have never happened at all if she hadn't killed Andy in the first place.

  • @fubukifangirl STFU.

  • @ilovecappuccino1 Make me. I live in a free country and I can say whatever the hell I want.

  • @fubukifangirl cool

  • This reminds me of the same thing my aunt did and my great grandma saw her brother get eletriced in the elertic cheir and now aunt aunt betty is dead and my great grandma sets in a dark corner of the house she is the only sibling left and is proud of how her brother took the blame for what her sister did

  • I can't remember a country song can anyone tell me the only parts I remeber are:

lock up your daughters lock up your wives lock up your husbands

and something about he's back in town?

  • @sweetxangelx0fxdark " when God feerin' women get the blues" Martina Mcbride

  • I don't understand this song at all D: Someone explain?

  • @0VanillaBean ook haha... soo her brother is out of town and when he comes back his friend is dating her brothers gf and he goes and gets the gun and finds the tracks and sees there are already some and its "reba's'' sooo he goes and sees reba in the house and tells her to go..and he took the blame.. and the reason that they say the judge in the towns got blood stains on his hands becuz he killed andy because he was datin the same girl!!!!!... complicated huh:)

  • I know my vision crappy even w/the zoom prog built into my screen reader but is it just me or does her "brother" Brody remind anyone else of William Defoe? (Defoe played the arch-nemesis in the Spiderman movie (the young man's father) & he plays a prison guard in the movie Cry-Baby where Johnny Depp's character goes to the juvenile detention ctr/jail & does "the god-bless so & so, & god-bless Dwight Eisenhower, etc...." along w/the whiffle hair-cut remark...)

  • Absolutely breath taking, Reba always does amazing story songs.

  • @temptationspiper That's what I always loved about not only her songs but also her music videos. I wish she would choose to act in actual movies, not television series but real movies with meat on the bones, so to speak, not comedies. I think she'd be a great dramatic actress if given the right part in the right movie. She does sooo well in these mini-stories, she'd be great in film.

  • @PaisleyPlace Oh my gosh yes, I think she did so well in this video I'd love to see her try something more serious then Reba. (Although she does have good comic timing too, the LOOKS she'd get on her face were priceless)

  • Love this song

  • This was made before I was even born and its still one of my favorite Reba songs!

  • i kinda understand this song but whats the whole meaning

  • Reba does a better version of this than Vicki Lawrence.

  • They talk too damn much, I just want to listen to the song

  • Thumbs up if you had no idea what this song really was until you watched this.

  • i love all reba but this one is my fave xx

    reba no:1 xx

  • the first time i herd this song was in 6th grade,, hadnt herd it since then until now

  • Liked it since it came out on radio: by Reba.

  • Great story i get goose bumps!!

  • my favorite part is little sister don't miss when she aims her gun

  • One of my all time favorite songs .

  • Her songs aren't about "Honkey Tonks" and "being redneck", she tells real stories.

  • @AngstandApathy But it's not her song, Vicki Lawrence wrote it.

  • @Mjbrooks194 Actually the song was written by Bobby Russell, the then husband of Vicki Lawrence.

  • @AngstandApathy Bobby russell wrote it but she does an amazing cover. Love her voice and choice of song covers.

  • dont be mad BFF because I diddled her too.Oh yeah that makes it so much better.Great song thou.

  • Little sister, dont miss when she aims her gun... i love that line

  • @hellraser70 For sure!

  • This song gives me chills. I love reba and I'm going to see her soon.

  • This would have made an Excellent movie

  • is beneful on EVERY music video?

  • This so fits georgia for killing someone when there was so much facts that showed he was not guilty. Maybe someone needs to get after the parole board and take their lives.like the bible says eye for an eye they took someone who was not guilty so they should give up theres. The family should get a lawyer and sue these ass wipes for wrongful death. Rest in peace Mr Davis my prayers go out 2 his family.

  • @tonkabob57

For a wrongful death suit to work they'd have to prove he was innocent...

  • @loner1878 they did it to the origenal vershin to

  • love this song

  • RIP Troy Davis

  • RIP TROY DAVIS

  • This song was based on a true event, oh how History repeats itself. I have been sharing this video all night.

  • I dedicate this song to Troy Davis and his family... He was innocent

  • Georgia & the SCOTUS have killed an innocent man.

  • Reba looks like a muppet.. God res the soul of Troy Davis :(

  • Amazes me how many people can take a song and twist it to suit their own political agenda. So far I have read, in the comments, reference to peoples own cheating ways right through to the justice system in America for death penalties applied to people they don't even know. Gotta admit Reba hits the target on the song choices

  • @cartyfiona in the case of Troy Davis, there are simply too many questions that are unanswered and once you execute someone it can not be taken back - I'm not saying free him, just don't kill him and answer those questions. Justice is not served if in fact he didn't commit the crime - what is the prosecution afraid of? Why don't they want to open the case?

  • @Maria92584 the old problem the south is facing every day: the belief of a black man killing a white man. so many racist pigs that would do anything to a kill a black person, innocent truly or not.

  • @heathermcd89 actually i live in the south . and nobody thinks that. to be honest al the white folks are to scared to say anything to the "african americans" as they are now called. cause when we do , we get stabbed or jumped. so yeah .

  • @dychesdallas i lived in the south 3 1/2 quarters of my life, so i know too. but people have power, so when something like this happens they'd have plenty of protection from things like that. it doesn't have to be out in the open.

  • I hope they spare Troy Davis' life so we don't have to sing this song next wednesday

  • i finally understand the song because of the vid..the first time i heard it i was..4? I dont remember but this and when the sun goes down(Kenny Chesney) were my all time faves!

  • i love this song ever since i can rember and im 14 now

  • I love this song, but they could have made the video without the framing device of old Reba and the reporter, which keeps interrupting the music.

  • I love this remake of this song!And the video's great,too!

  • innocent man hungyou knew he was messin around ith others, you doubted your own inyuition to shut yourself up so you could keep him thinking you didnt have a hunch about what he was doing because you also had faith in him changing from loving his new wife - just like the witch that correy had before he met me - his chosn august wife(in his imagination)

  • innocent man hung

  • I'd forgotten about this song. Remembering it and seeing the video was an awesome experience in and of itself.

  • so is this a true story??

  • @AllyNjohn4life

    You're not serious are you?

  • loveriba. waird seeing her look old tho.

  • Geez i hope whoever Reba mairred to isnt cheating on her ill hate to see what she do to him lol jk :)

  • @wildhorswlover98 That song is called "Does He Love You" and the end of the video is SO AMAZING.

  • HIS WIFE WAS A WHORRE!

  • It's good that not all artists have to necessarily lip sync in their videos

  • yeah they added details not mentioned in the lyric to add more to the flavour to the story. Good make up job on Reba.

  • This is almost like an episode of "Heat of the Night"

  • Thumbs up if ur a lil sis 2.......MUAHAHHAH

  • @dttapers101 haha ya lil sis don't miss when she aims that gun!! lol... mess him up

  • The Jennifer Nettles' version is 374.78%, by my humble calculations, BETTER !!! Cheers from Down Under

  • Reba McEntire is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

  • Reba looks good even in old age.I love her

  • this song was nearly me about 2 or 3 years ago, my big brother, who was in the army at the time, had a fiance, and a week before he went to the middle-east, she slept with a guy, and while he was there, she slept with the same guy

she told him this once he got back, she took the ring by bro had given her (a precious family heirloom) and she pawned it for pennies she married the guy, who already had a kid(instant family) and she was already pregnant with this guy's kid b4 my bro had come home!

  • @dangercats77 i was so ticked that i nearly did what the woman in the song did (except instead of a gun, an iron-cast frying pan cuz i don't aim good and id probably hit someone else), my question to y'all is, should i have done it? or should i let go?

my bro hasn't gotten over it, and all this stuff keeps happening to him cuz of it

i still hate that hussy, but my family says to let go of the grudge,

problem is i <3 my bro so much, hes a hero, and she betrayed him, what do you think i should do?

  • @dangercats77 I'm sure your brother is glad you didn't do anything. I'm sure he would feel even worse if you were in prison. He will get over her in time and you will be there for his wedding! And please thank him for his service to our country from me!

  • @917Amber if he lives that long! i do love him... but sometimes i feel he's too stupid for his own good... just last month he mixed moonshine with whiskey AND vodka! ^.^'

i'm just glad that girls find him so attractive, otherwise, we'd all b doomed XD

and don't worry, i'll tell him that there are still people out there who appreciate all he's done for this country

the best thing about being the youngest of 3 kids is... so much blackmail(enjoys torturing older sibs, cuz im a bit evil XD)

  • @dangercats77

Do it if you're sure you can get away with.

Nah, she's not worth the trouble of a felony charge even though she likely deserves it.

But its probably worth egging her house or keying up her car.

  • man I really wish I could meet hear cuz every single song she song is with heart and that is what is wrong with country nowadays and by the way I believe that if my sister would not have married and moved away I believe that this could of been her story

  • Rebas badass....js.(:

  • I have to amit that I relate to this song. Though my brothers wife is a good women if she had messed around with him I would be mad, don't think I'll be able to kill but I know that my brother would probably take a fall for me. Not to mention we both learned to shoot from my daddy.

  • @piperlovegood If you pay attention she says Andy was her fiancee. Thats what pushed her over the edge, the fact her fiancee was cheating with her brothers wife.

  • Some fucktard at the JB Mission (americanirishmom) actually said the Casey Anthony case reminded her of this song! HAHAHA God DAMN there are some sick, retarded people out there!!

  • this reminds me of an old murder mystery movie like on lifetime or AE i love it

  • like if u think Reba could kill

  • Reba's Voice- CHILLS EVERY TIME

  • she was in Oregon for a consert at CampRiley!

  • @lpswebkinz12 21 ppl now

  • I LOVE THIS SONG BECAUSE IT TELL A STORY

  • i never knew she was andys gf till now and this is one of my favorite song LOL

  • This is the ONLY time Reba looks old. ;)

  • @GibsonFromBand It's called make-up

  • @GothLoliDan LOL that's wat brought me here to "why'd ya chew it!"

  • i love this song.

  • was this video shot with a calculator ?

  • the brothers voice is creepy!

  • Keenan Thompson

  • I am in awe of this video. For years I have wanted to see this and FINALLY!!!!!!

    Yea Me.

    Great Video, Reba.

Thank you RebaMcEntireVEVO for this upload.

  • Reba does a surperb job with this song . She is the third person and or group to do this song . The other 2 are The Band and Gladis Knight and The Pips . If any one knows any others who has done this song please post .

  • @Mstrdrgns Vicki Lawrence was the first to record the song..:)

  • @Mstrdrgns the song written by songwriter Bobby Russell and performed in 1972 by his then-wife Vicki Lawrence; Reba covered it in 1991.

  • Ha ha Reba's an old lady!!! Ok now seriously, this song is so sad! This video was great.

  • Love reba so much! (Not that u couldn't't guess that by my screen name!) I love all her stuff, but the songs I like most r the 1s that no longer get airplane or were never singles off that album; her song "roses". So pretty, 2! I only wish I was as gorgeous as her!!!

  • I always loved this song.

  • I love Reba! No one else on earth can touch her talent!

  • The only thing I don't like is that the dialogue overlaps the song and I wanted to hear the song in the first place.

  • Hahaa my friend is so stupid and said the 19 ppl who dont like it are the judges and the sherrifs!(: Gotta love her! Reba McEntire Is and always will be the best female singer in the country!(:

  • COOL

  • love the line " You see little sister dont miss when she aims her gun.."

  • I like that there is an actual story behind it. The music video had an amazing portrayal of the story.

  • Reba is awsome in concert. glad to have seen her live.

  • You know, I love the song and love the video...but I would have preferred to be able to hear the song more than the acting...

  • The video is great but no one can sing this song better than Vicki Lawrence.

  • @AgentofChaos1966 I kno that's your opinion and that's fine with me but not to be rude or anything, DO YOU SEE THE NAME AT THE TOP?? REBA MCENTIRE!!! SHE IS THE ONE WHO STARTED THIS SONG AND VICKI LAWRENCE DECIDED TO COPY HER! Very sorry i had to use caaps tho(: Do you see/hear Vicki Lawrence on TV/ RADIO ON AS BIG STATIONS AS REBA?? NOOOO. HOW ABOUT CONCERTS LIKE REBAA???? NOOOOOOOOOOOPEEE(: Mmkaay just wanted to get that by you okaayy Byee Byee noww(:

  • @JJRmissindependent you must be a kid cause you dont know that your @ss backwards vicki lawrences husband wrote the song and then vicki sang it. then after vicki reba covered it.

  • @JJRmissindependent Sorry but you are totally misinformed, Vicki Lawrence did this song in 1972( which was written by her husband at the time Bobby Russel) and Reba McEntire covered it in 1991. That's 19 years difference. And your claim that Reba did it first is hilarious since Reba didn't start her singing career until 1976. Reba is a good singer, I'll give you that, but like I said before no one sings this song better than Vicki Lawrence.

  • @JJRmissindependent vicki lawrence was the one who first recorded this song.however, reba made it famous.don't be afraid to admit when ur wrong.nobody is perfect.get over urself!

  • @misscandi41 I wasnt being afraid to admit when i was wrong, I made a mistake and typed it wrong you do not have to get all pissy with me when somebody makes a mistake, Like you said Nobody's Perfect and Hunn I dont need to get over my slef it seems as i you do

  • @JJRmissindependent

Hi hon. Missindependent is correct Vicky Lawrence sang the song first. Her husband did write it and she sang it in 1972. i loved her version of the song. However I do have a great deal of respect for Ms. McEntires rendition as well. I think they are both wonderful singers with gorgeous heads of red hair. Love them, Love country!!!!
