@gb6710 Hmm... let's see. The Bears were rated higher in almost every major statistical category, besides passing. They gave up less points per game, and had a much wider margin of victory. The Bears gave up 10 points in the entire NFL playoffs, and had consecutive playoff shutouts going into SB XX. The Packers struggled with the Cowboys in the NFL title game. The Bears absolutely demolished any team in their path on the way to the superbowl. There's a reason why they're considered the best.
@richig761 Yet, they didn't demolish the Dolphins that year. Also, the Packers still beat the Cowboys. And the Bears had struggled against the Viks during Week 3, the Packers during Week 9, the Dolphins during Week 13 and the Colts during Week 14. Plus, its not as if the Bears were infallible, they had an atrocious offense with the exception of Walter Payton. Sure, they are probably one of the great defensive teams ever, but not the greatest.
@gb6710 Of course the Dolphins beat them with Tomzcak at QB. It was bound to happen. Everything fell right that night for them. The only tough games the Bears played in that year, was with McMahon out due to injury. "Atrocious offense"? LMAO! Yeah, that's why they scored 456 points, and were ranked #1 overall for the majority of the season. Nobody dominated a season like the Bears in 85, and yes... they are the greatest defense of all-time. For the playoff performance alone, if anything.
@gb6710 What does anything before or after 1985 have to do with the 1985 Bears? LOL, we're not talking about who has seen the most success throughout history. That is of course the Packers. They have the most championships. That has ZERO to do with this topic though. It just sounds like you ran out of points to make. I'm not ignoring the SOS. It's just irrelevant really. The Bears rolled over playoff competition anyway. Not to mention, in 66 the Pack lost the fucking 4-9 Lions and 6-6 9ers. lol
@richig761 Yes, a team that won three NFL championships in a row is horrible. Frankly, if that team was truly dominate they would have won more than one championship, especially given that its own division was weak throughout the 1980s and rarely beat team that had winning records. They had one great year and succeeded Walter Payton and its great defense, though its defense isn't even the best. The 1978 Falcons had the better defense.
@gb6710 "Yes, a team that won three NFL championships in a row is horrible." Uhm... who said that? LOL. "Frankly, if that team was truly dominate they would have won more than one championship" Also irrelevant. Not to mention, completely not true. That Bears team was only together for one year. They lost key players on both sides of the ball, and McMahon rarely if ever played due to injury. "The 1978 Falcons had the better defense." Are you retarded? They were 14th in points allowed. LMAO!
@richig761 Pardon me, it was the year before the 1977 Falcons. They had the better defense. Sure, I admit I had the year wrong. But anyway, if the Bears were truly dominate they would have had more than one Super Bowl, hell ore than one appearance, but the fact remains they were one and done due to their front office's inability to manage their franchise. To be truly dominate one has to do it consistently over a number of years, something that the Bears couldn't do.
@gb6710 Being dominate over multiple years, has nothing to do with who had the most dominant season of all-time. NOT EVEN CLOSE. We're not talking about who was the greatest dynasty of all-time. You're just incorrect, I'm sorry. It also had nothing to do with the front office either. It had to do with players like Wilbert Marshall and Willie Gault wanting to go to another place, where they would be allowed to play a more "starring" role. It had to do with Jim McMahon's body finally giving in.
@gb6710 (CONTINUED) Oh, and BTW... I love how you say that the Bears defense can't be considered the best of all-time because they didn't win multiple championships, but yet the 77 Falcons can be without even WINNING ONE! What the FUCK kind of logic is that? Seriously? The FUCKING 77 Falcons defense is the best of all-time? That team went 7-7! LMAO! They weren't even the #1 overall defense in yardage, and they were 11th against the run. Give me a fucking break. They missed the damn playoffs!
@richig761 That's why its called an opinion moron. If you don't like it, get over it. I have my opinion and it will not change, no matter how much you rage and scream. The Bears suck, plain and simple.
@gb6710 You know you've won the debate, when somebody gets all butt hurt and starts crying "well, it's my opinion!". Yeah, it's your fucking opinion, and we were having a discussion about it. That's what the youtube comment section is for. I have no problem with you having an opinion. I have a problem with people who's opinions are based on zero substance. I don't see why people get so riled up on youtube. I never insulted you. We were having a simple debate/discussion.
@gb6710 I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you were a little girl that has never heard swear words before. LMAO. I typed in caps only a few times, to emphasize certain words. Without using caps, that is obviously impossible to do on youtube. If you have no valid points to make, I'll just be chalking this one up in the "W" column and be on my way :)
@richig761 What ever you need to tell yourself. Its no one's fault but your own that you aren't articulate enough to carry on a conversation without cursing or caps locks. So I guess I'll be chalking you up to be an idiot.
@gb6710 LOL, exactly the kind of response I thought I'd get from you. I don't know why you had to get so butt hurt. I really was enjoying our conversation. Kind of a shame you aren't mature enough to handle a few swear words. If I would have known you were so sensitive to language, I wouldn't have used what you call "bad" words. For that, I do apologize. Good luck to your Packers... Well not really :) As a Bears fan, I dread the thought of playing Rodgers and the Pack for the next decade.
@richig761 The text of the defeated. Anyway, opinions aside. It seems that the NFC North will be the toughest division in football with Green Bay, Chicago and Detroit having the potential to all be playoff teams. Its probably the best QB division in the NFL right now.
@gb6710 Not the text of the defeated. I have made all of my points, and have said multiple times that you may present more. I have literally picked apart your arguments one by one, and you have had no rational response. Please, if you still have a case... make it. If not, I look forward to watching the NFC North dominate the NFL as we were saying. Between Rodgers, Stafford, and Cutler it should be a great show.
@richig761 Just because you ignore it doesn't mean you defeated it. Its my opinion that they 66' Packers are a better team because they had a history of dominance. Sure, the 85' Bears were a great team, but not as great as other teams in NFL History because they couldn't prolong their success. And I said that the '77 Falcons' defense were better because of the amount of points allowed, which is still a NFL record. Their offense was atrocious, which is why they didn't make the playoffs.
@richig761 When your defense only allows a little over 10 points a game, you would expect to at least be in the playoffs, but the Falcon's offense was so inept they lost and the defense can only win the game so many times. But anyway, I do agree, I cannot wait to see how these three teams do for the next 10-15 years. Even though I hate the Bears, I do hope Cutler can stay healthy. He has the strongest arm in the NFC, if not the NFL. Though he needs to get more accurate.
@gb6710 Yeah, I'll agree with that. Although, he was playing the best football of his career before his injury last November. After him and Forte went down, that season was absolutely brutal to watch. I don't remember a more gut wrenching month of being a Bears fan. They really looked like they were ready to make their run. A shame it ended because of injuries. Leaves me constantly wondering what would have happened. I want the 2012 season to start right now! lol
@richig761 Yeah, he is just a season away from being truly elite. What Cutler really needs isn't more offensive linemen, but a stud wide receiver. Its too bad that Devin Hester doesn't have better hands because he could be that stud, especially given his speed and agility. But anyway, I expect them to go after one in the draft, maybe they will trade up to get Blackmon from OSU, because he is by far the best receiver in this class.
@gb6710 I like Blackmon... I also like Floyd. If he fell to the Bears, I would settle for that. The Bears lost a few O-lineman to injury last year as well. Getting them healthy will be big, and I think we can patch things up a bit through free agency. As for Hester, he's a return man... and they should just let him be there. He's a shit receiver. Runs shit routes, and is god awful at adjusting to the ball like a receiver should. Hard to blame him though, he was drafted as a DB.
@richig761 This year it will be hard for the Bears to try and get that stud receiver though. They haven't had success in free agency or the draft. Hopefully they can finally draft one, but they will have to trade up to get a premier one. Also I agree, but when they switched him he has so much promise. But like I said, if he had hands it would make up for his lack of talent when it comes to the receiver position. To bad he doesn't though, it sure would be something to watch.
@richig761 Plus, its not as if the Bears had a tough path to the playoffs anyway as they only played 5 teams that finished above .500. The other 11 games were against weak opponents in a weak divisions. And yes, the NFC Central was very weak that year.
But the Dolphins didn't beat the Patriots in the AFC game, and were instead completely obliterated 14-31 by a team that itself was obliterated by the Bears in the SB.
@gwynedd1 That's football. You forget that the Dolphins obliterated the Bears that year too. And they obliterated any hope of an undefeated season. When will you people learn? NO ONE will ever go undefeated again. Dolphins forever.
@DoesNotExist305 No one will go undeafeated again? ok..... 2007 patriots 19-1....................if only they would have won the sb. and the packers are 8-0 right now soo i wouldnt be saying that
@DoesNotExist305 there will be another undefeated team it is just a matter of time. The patriots were a miracle away from it in 07 and the packers are sitting pretty at 10-0 at the moment. i wouldn't get so foolish as to believe you are the only tem taht will ever go undefeated. and lol dolphins suck the pats were better than them in 85 proven by their afccg win in miami.
I loved this team so much. I fell for them in the '84 season. The single greatest, most dominant defense for two seasons I have personally seen in my time.
Guys, if you wanna learn more about the 46 Bear and Buddy Ryan, buy the book "The Games that Changed the Game" from Ron Jaworski. It explains strategies that changed football forever.
Sorry, but anyone with a brain would know that the '66 Packers are the best team ever.
