  • Sounds like shes happy!! ive allways had A thing for these Ferrari's... the shape, the sound. its Beautiful!! i really don't have A favorite car in the world. i just know what i like and don't like. i know my limitations. one of these day i plan on restoring A 308 Ferrari. A 70's model with A carborator. A 1976 to 1979 model. i want to keep the look and feel of the car. but improve performance and handling. and brakes.

  • That thing sounds amazing!

  • Nice and healthy.

  • I am no Ferrari fan but that sounds *awesome*

  • Beautiful sound

  • THAT sounds very sexy!!!!

  • 195 REAR WHEEL horsepower. Your Civic dynos at closer to 170. Nevermind, this car is from an era when the Mustang 5.0 wasn't even pushing this much at the crank with nearly double the displacement. You want to compare modern engines, the lowest hp Ferrari today is putting out 560+ HP.

  • Do you like CRAZY old Ferrari GTO movies ?

    Youtube : niuqcam

  • my dad has the same exact car except he hasn't fixed it up yet. He just leaves it sitting there the whole frieking time!

  • Civic my ass!! a fucking Honda won't get you ANY girls... a Fezza could look like an ass but you'll still get chicks

  • ahhh that sounds nicee man ...

  • There is the epitome of "quality, not quantity" when it comes to hp

  • people don't take into account that it's 195 hp in a car that weighs what? half of some grand am pos. That means a lot!

  • my 93 rx7s 255hp stock but i'd rather have that ferrari sooo hottt

  • My dad is selling his Ferrari 308 gt kit car custom

  • @MichiganFann - Good luck finding a buyer.

  • @512BBi yeah ik

  • @MichiganFann Bitches dont know any better, and as long as it sounds decent, how much?

  • @Shorty15c4007 not sure

  • @MichiganFann A guestimate? As long as it not as much as a Chrysler 300, I think you'll have a shot.

  • i love the sound :)

  • I was sleeping in my 308 GTS one afternoon with the radio on low at the end of the glider field at Calistoga years ago. 2 fine ladies showed up and wanted rides. I ended up riding them both in the hot tubs until I was within an inch of death. That would have never had happened if I was in my yellow 76 Nova.

  • And that's the sound I heard in my head the whole time.

  • Magic Sound!!!!

  • *-*

  • those ferraris sure sound sexy

  • I don't like Ferrari but...it's a BADASS!

  • You would not even need a car radio in that beast. 195 hp never sounded so good. That is such a nice color as well. Who gives a rats ass if a Civic Si has over 200 hp. Give me one of these bad boys and I am cool!!!!

  • That's a nice color on that car, sounds great too!

  • Hey, guys, guys...just stop there. It's a Ferrari. It sounds good. It's got 195 effing horses under that bonnet! It's no more, no less. It's just pure awesomeness!

  • what were the results of the dyno? whats top end and how many hp?

  • @mmalkove - As I recall the horsepower at the tires was about 195. The redline on the 308 is marked at 7,700 but there is no electronic rev limiter, so I took it a bit higher to about 8,000 RPM at each shift.

  • @512BBi lol just a LILL bit further haha

  • @512BBi I typically estimate about a 17% loss in power from the flywheel to the rear wheels on the 308. which puts the engine power @ 228.15 hp, very close to the factory rating of 230. Was this a test run after a fresh service?

  • @512BBi Damn, 195 to the tires? Yes, this is a Ferrari and a beautiful car, but I've seen JDM Type-R Honda Integras put that to the pavement with 4 less cylinders and just as much room on the tach to wind up to. Both cars are great, ALL cars are great. Just a little sad that the power was less than I was thinking you'd get from such a great car. Oh well, a Ferrari is still a Ferrari no matter what!

  • @DJM442 - At the end of the day, which would you rather drive home? A Honda, or a Ferrari?

Horsepower isn't the only factor in my mind.

  • @512BBi Honestly....... the JDM Type-R. I've driven one already and the handling is superb. I've had the pleasure of riding in an '84 512 BBi as well which was LOADS of fun. Both cars have their advantages and disadvantages. In the end, I'm a lover of all kinds of vehicles and like most people, will always have my preferences of one cxar over another.

  • @512BBi I would Have the Ferrari. its A better looking car, and its A Ferrari!! LOL... Honda's are A dime a dozen. and i believe you might be able to get more power out of a 308?? if i am not mistaken... The 288GTO and 308 have interchangeable parts right?? could'nt you just put the twin turbo setup off of A 288GTO on A 308 and get more power?? and the side vents open up if you were willing to do so. that way you can have more airflow for A twin turbo setup.

  • looks good but doesn't sound AT ALL like a v8. i heard this vid start playing before i saw what this was and no offense but yes, it does sound like a honda, not a ricey one, but almost like a NA built one.

  • @ncs553 thats because its not a v8 its a flat 8

  • @dltnellis no its flat plane crank V8, it like having two 1.5 L Honda civil I4 engines crank shafted together to make a 3.0L v8.... look up H1 V8 you will get the sound..... I would like to take two 1.8L 180 HP Toyota Celica I4 engines crank shaft them together and make a 360 HP 3.6L V8 then Drop that in a 1991 MR2.... SEXY FAST.

  • That sounds great ! Does it have cats on it ? most cat back Tubi 308's that I have seen in person don't sound that good. I live near Monterey Ca so there is an almost endless stream of 308,328,355, 360's etc around during the Concourse at Pebble Beach.

  • @candycab - NO cats. They were replaced with stainless steel "test tipes." The old restrictive factory cats really choke off the exhaust. 1983 was the only year of the 308 QVs that had a true DUAL exhaust with two cats. The later years had only one cat and one single inlet pipe going into the muffler, instead of two.

  • the last of the proper ferraris...

  • youd be screwed if the ropes holding it came lose lol

  • If I owned this I don't think I'd ever want to turn on the stereo.. that exhaust note is like music

  • Great car! thanks! nice sound!

  • I. LOVE. THAT. COLOR! Was that original paint?

  • @ledrocker555 - Yes, the original factory paint. Ruby red metallic (rosso rubino)

  • @512BBi Sorry for the late reply, but that color matches my 1981 Porsche 911 SC! its also Metallic wine red. I need a matching pair =P

  • @ledrocker555

Looks like Prugna (Plum), an original color... very attractive!

    Best,

    Tom

  • @tomkatf - Factory paint color is "Rosso Rubino" (ruby red metallic) not prugna- which is much darker.

  • @tomkatf This is one of three of the Ferrari factory red colors avilable for the 308's. The factory called this color Rosso Rubino the only metallic Red availale in that era. The other two colors are Rossa Corsa, what is known as Ferrari Red, and Rossa Dino, which has red orange color when viewed on a sunny day.

  • I loved this. I will have to post a video of my 308 2 valve on the dyno once I have my race prepped motor done.

  • awesome, i just bought a lancia thema-ferrari 8.32 with this engine..its magnificent, how close the sound is, on a four door saloon car!!

  • and then a GMC typhoon leaves it behind at the red light GMC trucks beat up on 308's

  • @sirlonghair Yep, and we all know that Ferraris are designed for stop light drag racing. I bet the ladies are really turned on by your fast truck, after all it is far more impressive and better looking than a Ferrari.

  • @roybotnik just saying slower than a truck oooo that's sexy and you wallet is empty from repairs and maintaining it

  • QV are terrible, they are incompetent and idiotic. They may have the basic skills to service a classic Ferrari but nothing more than that. They excel in one field, that is to ruin your engine. I race a 308 GTB, I gave it to QV and all Ive had from there on is problems.

  • sweet sound!

  • The Ferrari 308 was one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I especially love the rare color of that one, called Rosso Rubino. Great video of a great car. Thanks for posting this!

  • not bad for a 30grand car i guess

  • Thats the best 195hp I have ever heard!.

  • @vfIskullangel its 240bhp on a qv

  • i wooped one of these going down the highway but it might have been a replica since a dumb red neck was driving and tried to claim its a $100,000 car. he also tried to say i was going to wreck him

  • no balls

  • we weren't discussing you.

  • Hey thanks for the correction jz8817, I have been told for so many years by others that the sound comes from 180 degree headers. Hmm, flat plane crank shaft, I figure some one came up with an answer to the balance problem. I'll be digging up Jag XKE, Ferrari, and 350Z sounds, also, 1969 the movie Le Mans, Steve McQueen, real race engine sounds, turn it up and melt, good stuff. Also enter 3000GT Magna Flow Exhaust on Youtube and hear some real exotic sounds, great Mitsubishi V6, thanks.

  • @artbyval

"Hmm, flat plane crank shaft, I figure some one came up with an answer to the balance problem."

no, Ferrari just uses lightweight reciprocating parts, and can afford to have pistons/rods weight-matched. Any remaining vibration is part of the character of the car. you won't find, say, a BMW or GM V8 with a flat plane crank 'cos it would vibrate like hell.

  • Thanks for the wonderful comment. We are all very impressed with your racing skills as a teenager.

  • @512BBi lmaoo

  • @ford42712

u mean a fearrari driver lat u past rather than race on a public road like a twat.

Power to weight ratio, no contest.

  • What a sweet sweet noise!!

  • does anyone else feel the euphoria this video provokes? :) lol .. ah .the good old days when cars were exquisite works of art..

  • This is sheer orgasm. Whoever said this sounds like a Honda has a hearing problem.

  • now that sounds nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • musika to my ears. i luv it

  • The Lamborghini Jalpa, a Countach with a V8 and not a 12 and the Maserati Bora V8 did not have 180 headers and sounded like muscle cars. 6 Cylinders, Line or V6 fire left-right-left-right and have a beautiful harmonic, so does a 12. A VW air cooled fires left-left right-right thats where the bup-bup-bup sound comes from, Subaru too. Add some nice open air cleaners and the exhaust will harmonic with the intake, listen to the 308 in the upper PRM range, music.

  • how do does a Lotus esprit sound?

  • Its a V8 with 180 degree headers, meaning on a normal V8 the left and right banks of 4 are actually out of time with the middle cylinders, thats why a Camero has the lump lump sound. The 308headers join the middle cylinders and create 2 four cylinder engines, so a V8 will sound at 4000 RPM, like a Honda at 8000 RPM. Imagine if Corvettes and Mustangs sounded like Ferrari's. Also Ferrari is a race engine, small crank, large cylinders, big valves, huge cam, titanium, all make beautiful music.

  • no, this is incorrect. Ferrari V8s use flat-plane crankshafts. they are in essence two inline 4s on a common crankshaft. Most other V8s use cross-plane crankshafts.

There is no point to doing "180° headers" on a flat-plane V8 since the exhaust pulses are already balanced left-to-right.

  • That is really music. No need for a radio in this car. OMG...........

  • Sorry dude, there's just no way a honda civic sounds like a flat-crank V8 Ferrari engine at 8,000 RPM.

  • Yeah serrrrrriously. WAY differnt. Not even an H22 honda motor sounds THIS good! Nice 308 mate. Been looking into one myself. Certainly will get some ladies attention :)

  • why not? it's a flat plane V8. It is literally two inline-fours on a common crank, splayed 90° apart. each cylinder bank has the same pattern as an I4.

  • @512BBi maybe the Ferrari sounds like the Honda.

  • @512BBi Actually, that's exactly what it sounds like. A Honda is half a Ferrari, if you know what a flat crank is, you already know this.

  • @512BBi The do sound oddly similar, because a flat plane crank V8 has the same crank configuration as an I4, and thus the exhaust pulses are similarly timed, thus making them sound pretty similar. A lot of 60* V6's also sound similar to a lot of 60* V12s.

  • Never mention Honda again please.

  • I know how u can get this idea sorta from just hearin this vid...BUT if u heard the car in person you would have a VERY diffrent opinion of what u just said

  • Well damn, apparently it's all the rave. I guess it would be different in person. Personally, I'm a fan of inline sixes which are torquey, smooth, and balanced.

  • right..like a 2jz....great motor too...but in my opinion nothing sounds like a italian v8 or v12...its one of the most unique sounds in the world

  • Nice rims!

  • very nice,sound is ouuaaaaappps.

  • what is DYNO~!?

  • ...as in like thats interesting, imagine how small the cylinders are

  • It has a 3-liter V8 engine, that is why it is called a "308."

  • That is a beautiful 308. I love the gold wheels with that color. Sounds fantastic too!

  • It doesn't have to sound intimidating...it's a Ferrari! Not to put down a small block Chevy but they don't sound that good unless you have a real good exhaust...on the other hand a small block Ford does sound good. Personally, I like the sound of my Nissan/Datsun L28 straight 6.

  • I agree. I think any engine with an unrestrictive exhaust sounds good. I mean my Tractor sounds good and its got 16hp..haha. My H1 Alpha doesnt sound so bad either :)

  • dude you cant make yourself sound anymore redneck if you tried

  • Love that beautiful aluminum V8 howl ;) thanks for posting it.

  • Tone like the finest music! I do love that 308 V8 howl ;)

  • Do these things ever accidentally jump off of the dyno? I wouldn't want to be around if one did.

  • nice...

but i'd prefer an old german 911 RS turbo.

    :)

  • me as well.

  • awsome sound !! now i am a chevy man myself. i also love ferraris i don't make the mistake others do of comparing american to italian. i think both sound wonderful. i will one day own a ferrari.

  • I wonder what would be sweeter: Kim Bassinger whispering 'Don't stop' in your ear or standing next to a Ferrari eight at full song?

  • hmm..... tough call.

  • Good point :)

  • look at the exhaust shooting out! I love 308's! they sound so awesome!

  • I preffer the 512BB to the 512BBi definetely... Whell the reason why i'm writing here is: frankster177 you definetely have extremelly bad taste in cars... chev?! ford?! Are you crazy to compare a chev or a ford with such music, the orchestra that ferrari exausts! Off course it sin't the fastest car anymore and it wasn't before cause... another ferrari was! but the emotions and thrills it can deliver... Only one american car came ever close: the tg40 and still i prefer the f40 over it.

  • A Ford Windsor? The Windsor was the norm, while the Cleveland was the "exceptional" Ford. That being said, you got under the skin (which was your intention) of us Ferrari addicts. Good job!(but you need to really see what you're missing. The GT40's only won because of their tires in the unexpected rain.

  • you do that and you should be shot.

  • You epitomize the bar of stupidity. Only someone with the intellect and intelligence of a 8 year old would ruin a brilliant work of art and engineering with a big, stupid, retarded motor built by morons.

  • fORD?????Shut up poor man! Don't talk about FERRARI .

  • Your an idiot mate. The end

  • and the rwhp results was?

  • 195 HP at the rear tires.

  • 4 valves - best way to go!

  • OMFG what a sound

  • wow!

  • Beautiful car but lacking performance (they had to increase displacement to 3200 cc. for a claimed 280 hp output)-

  • Never heard a 328 sound so good!

  • It's not a 328, it's a 308 QV

  • love the sounds and that color

  • What do u mean by test pipes??

  • Cat bypass pipes.

  • Sounds crazy!
