  • Great fun! LOVE the way the bass player was "digging in"!!! ♪

    She's REAL SHOW BIZ isn't she? ♥

  • I think I read in he bio that this is the one and only performance that her father ever saw

  • Boy she can sure sing but, her voice is just not pretty.

  • Two great stars in an iconic number!

  • that was really terrific!!! yaaaay..i had no idea this was out there

  • That was sweet. I loved it that she was 'flirting' with him and insisted he dance with her. :) No matter how much she was in awe, just like Bette, she was in control. Whattagal.

  • I was watching an interview with Bette and apparently Bing fell 20 ft into a pit that night.

  • @GlitterFreakify Haha. I guess she really knocked him off his feet that night, huh?

I heard Elton John talk about his own fall. He said, "I'm the only guy I know who can sing about 'I'm Still Standing' while falling from a 20' stage." lol

  • You can see inside her head she's screaming "Holy sh*t I'm singing with Bing Crosby!"

  • @fhr331 YES ! exactly what I thought !

  • a thumbs up for Bette Midler?

  • Jonah in the whale, Noah in the shark

  • If this was Bing's last show, it was a nice way to go out on... energetic, looking and sounding fine, having a good time.

  • Sadly, this is probably one of the last performances Bing gave. He died only six months later. I've never heard this version. Thanks for posting!

  • Why is this version not on iTunes?

  • For a man who only sang to finance his love of golf he sure looks like he's having fun.

  • Listen to that crisp Bing Crosby voice!

  • cherfan97 I like this song and agree it is better than some of the things we sing but its all good now because we are singing no air and i got a solo(:

  • We r singing this for choir :/

  • @CaliBabii15 why the ":/" i would have loved to sing this song when i was in choir! its an amazing song..so much better than most of the stuff now..

  • Hahaha I can't beileve I found this we sing this song in chorus hehehehe

  • WOW- love them together- thanks for posting!!!

  • It's interesting to see that Bing's microphone is apparently non-functional. Bette's voice miking doesn't change when he is late moving the mike over to her mouth, nor when she looks away to sing to the wings.

Guessing they both had hidden lapel mikes, and the visible wireless mike was a prop.

  • know whut? i'm old as a rock but i never expected to see Bette and Bing.....butcha know whut? I love it!.....wow!

  • Great message & awesome singers!!

  • Bing was old here, in his seventees, and still this great, great voice!

  • Bette Midler has one of the strongest and prettiest voices ever. A great singer and Entertainer.......

  • Is Midler singing offkey or is that just her style for a song like this?

Crosby, like Elvis, could deliver a song right up to the moment he dropped dead.

  • NO WAY has MIchael Buble got the depth or range of the old crooners

  • Wow, I was born way too late wasn't I?

  • brilliant!

  • love it!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lovely voices & great lyrics!

  • Couldn't they afford two microphones?

  • Totally brilliant! They work together so beautifully. They should have done more. Did they? Thanks for posting, a delightful surprise.

  • Bing could have had his way with Bette that night.

  • @mustangcharger worrrdddd.

  • Bette and Bing would have loved and understood each other because they both came from the tradition of American show business that has sadly become just an 'industry'

  • Why was this guys name Bing?

  • @StoneyEnd444 From Gonzaga Uni website: " In 1910, he received the nickname "Bing", a shortened name of his favorite comic strip character "Bingo" from the "Bingville Bugle," a popular section in the local newspaper. Everyone, except Bing’s mother, would call him “Bing.”"

  • haha im singing this in music for a play!

  • Doesn't get any better than this :D

  • Well your two cents doesn't buy my vote on your comment. Obviously Mr. Crosby was enjoying himself, and Bette Midler was a really big fan of his and respected him. Perhaps you might not care for her, but the fact that Bing did is all that matters.

  • No, it's not all that matters. Maybe a bit. I'm sure my vote counts for something like 0,00001%. That matters. A bunch!

  • oops sorry to give u the thumbs down, meant to be HUGE thumbs up! sorry...

  • All I need to make my day now is Bette doing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and Bing doing Swing on a Star!

  • We have to sing this in choir :P

  • remind me in the old days thoe i was born in 1998.

i just haded a lesson about this song today in music!

  • yeah look where it got you. probably being addicted to youtube. NOT EVERYONE HAS TO THINK LIKE YOU!

  • Hahahah! Yeah they do, honey!

  • Thanks so much for this gem! Great to come across these fabulous old duets! How lucky for Bette to sing with this legend! Now, Bette herself has become a legend.

  • so true - she was so lucky to have this great honor

  • Its amazing to stumble across stuff like this, I had no idea Midler did so much mainstream stuff in the 70's. She was kinda unheard of in the UK until maybe 'The Rose' and even then hardly a household name (other than on the Gay scene) until 'Beaches' and 'Wind beneath my wings'.

  • i cant believe it. Bette and Bing!

  • awesome bing!!!

  • i love bette, is that real she sung with bing. wow i am showing my age mr crosby had a great voice

  • Bing died about 6 months later. I can't believe there are people still living today who were able to perform with him.

  • agreed, tho Bette is like 63 now. very crazy

  • Brilliant! Great advice for all of life. :-)

  • The coolest!

  • thats Entertainment!

    thanx for this gem!

  • Great video!

  • That's showmanship!

  • It is all about choice isen't it. We chose to see the glass as half empty or half full. Accent on the positive is a better use of energy.

  • Wasn't this the same show where Ella Fitzgerald fell off the stage???

  • No, Bing did.

  • @burffle This was Bing's 50th Anniversary show business tribute. He was the one to fall offstage at the end. He spent time in the hospital recuperating. Later that year he traveled to Spain to play in a golf outing where he dropped dead on the course at the end of play. Ironic that he died the same year as Elvis, entertainers a generation apart. Crosby was by far a better actor and performer, yet Elvis has eclipsed him!

  • @cliffshell Elvis eclipse him in what? Check into your facts.

  • @ThePattycake1313

"Lady" get out your little Webster's dictionary and look up the term "eclipse".

You'll find I used it in the right context. Having spent thirty plus years on the air

in both radio and television, I believe I know a bit more about entertainment trivia

    than you do!

  • First off I am no lady. Second, when Bing Crosby died, more human ears had knowen/reconnized his voice then ANY other human voice on EARTH. I know, and I study entertainment as well as music. Ever hear of White Christmas? Silent Night? Adesta Fidelas? Or how about You are my Sunshine? All these singles outsold any single by Elvis and even the Beetles. Look it up yourself. Anyone can be trained to push a button on the air, it does not make you an expert in anything.

  • So again fool (Capt Chaos), what did Elvis eclipse Bing at? Rock N' Roll, well dugh! But what you implied, is Elvis outdrawed Bing, and outsold him!? Again I ask, at what? I like Elvis, I like him a lot. But you know what I heard? While he was doing those Vegas Shows, you could walk right up and buy a ticket. Never heard of ppl doing that for a Crosby Show. Did You? Oh hey, before becoming a nurse, I worked in a resturant for ten years. That must make me an expert at chickens!

  • @cliffshell Elvis borrowed from Dean Martin who borrowed from Bing Crosby. And all were great performers. Elvis the big, rock star. But Crosby and Martin, funny, consumate performers. Better in movies, clearly, then Elvis ever was. Bette Midler more like the last two, and a great, interpretive singer, in my opinion, influenced much by music of Crosby's generation.

  • @brelfan Now that's an honest and fair evaluation covering three generations of music. I entered the communications industry decades ago partially because of my admiration of Crosby, Como and others in their field. The only tunesmith that comes close this day in age is singer Michael Buble....in my opinion. I'm not quite sure what ThePattycake's ramblings were all about, but if he's a nurse, he better lay off the prescription drugs or quit posting while he's loaded!

  • it talks about ferrets! haha

  • I say: "don't mess with "Midler" in between"!!!

    Good, better Bette!!!

  • Fantastic meeting of two legends (even if Bing was an ass) Toodles

  • You know, I think this might be the performance that Bette referred to when she said that her Dad only ever watched her perform once - and that was with Bing Crosby Her Dad thought Bing was a true performer, unfortunately he did not think the same of his daughter. This may very well be that performance! Well, I hope her dad was impressed - he should have been because his daughter is timeless.

  • Great duet, they both are very fine artists and it looks like they were having fun !!! Thanks for the share as always.

    Hugs, Steph

  • thanks again! Bette shows all her glowing talents here, love her much!

  • This is Great!

    She is ageless! ~Thanks!

  • Shes adorable
