  • im actually christian... but i help but like this song so much

  • @esmod89 i cant help but like this song is what i meant to say

  • Makes me wanna play Gauntlet on the N64

  • SUCH a good song, incredible

  • yngwie is god, michael romeo is jesuschrist

  • why the fuck is people comapreing sx to iron maiden hahahah wtf please iron maiden is good but only so much there best solos number of the beast ffs fuck off pricks

  • Yngwie wrote this right???

  • @tubaeli93 err no he sucks balls

  • @tortoise656 actually yeah bro, he did. X just did a different arrangement of it. Theirs is better but I was just saying... yngwie did write this song though.

  • esta cancion sin Russell Allen seria maravillosa!

  • iron maiden overrated??? kids need some respect for your elders

  • @joeyofdoom666 Yes, in fact they are known only as pioneers of New Wave of British Heavy Metal. After that title, they are the typical 15 years old-I-am-Learning-metal band. It's actually a heavy blues metal band, after the heavy albums of course.

  • @UandMeRacoons i don't like Symphony X more than Maiden because their songs are harder to play, but i think they write more interesting riffs and melodies technical or not

  • dude watch MR do it in the instructional video; that version is fucking the best guitar piece you'll ever hear, ever.

  • Romeo is the fucking best.

  • this album, DWOT and TIO are the best albums...the later 4 have really lost that other-worldly vibe IMO.

their first one is good too.

  • @NIMHFS Saying that V didn't have the same vibe doesn't seem plausible to me, the other 3 yeah, but V had some songs that brought me back to DWOT. Its just the mixing that was sorta poor on it. But over all I'd say TIO is my fav ablum

  • Better than Iron Maiden

  • @citizen773 Iron Maiden, they are overrated and unable to play technical music. Their songs take 5 minutes to learn.

  • @UandMeRacoons Technicality is not everything. Any band can be extremely technical, it doesn't make them great.

  • @Destroysall It's a matter of what you want in music, some do, some don't. If all people were the same, this world would be boring and with no creativity. I agree that technicality isn't everything, but some people want to extend their instrument skill by learning this song. I am sure you will be happy knowing it, plus some bach and mozart songs.

  • @UandMeRacoons True. Extending your skill is vital in being a musician.

  • 5 people lost the Damnation Game

  • the guitar player is good enough for belong to the human race

  • I fainted at 4:05, what happened at the end? Let me look... (faints)

  • i really like that album cover

  • I like a lot of Symphony X and the work of Romeo is too good, but never compare to Bach!

  • better than dragonforce

  • @terence5678 Ha ha lol. Hell ya.

  • @terence5678 Dragonforce is just a hair out of Romeo's balls...

  • @terence5678 Anything is better than dragonforce.

  • i dont know why people says that metallica is the band in the wordl!!! i MEAN MICHAEL ROMEO!

  • @AndJustieForMexico: Metallica is one of the few founders of thrash heck even heavy metal. Thats why they're considered they're the best. Theres better out there nowadays.(like these guys) but Metallica will never be forgotten.

  • @sonicnator i love you.

  • @Biake22

Michael Romeo, as far as I understand it. He writes a lot of classical/neo-classical himself.

  • Comment removed

  • @Biake22

Haha, and here I was thinking MJ was as good as Bach :p Cheers for the tip off, I'll check Solfeggietto out.

  • @ExNihilMetal Eh, I doubt Bach could tap as cleanly as MR does :)

  • This song is Da-damn da-da-damn damn damn da-da-da-damn good.

  • Awesome guitar, not digging the vocals though. I prefer queensryche or DT vocals.

  • @cjgone2

He was very like Dio on this album and it is one of my favourite SyX albums! Sure there are some filler tracks but the rest are awesome, and also sadly neglected these days by the band...

  • @cjgone2 Check out "Domination" which is also by SYm X, the vocals on that are just badass, it is one of their heavier songs tho.

I heard DT before these guys(a shit ton of it at that, I still do :P) and Allen's vocals are different than LaBrie's. JLB's voice is amazing and maybe it'll take a couple of Sym X songs to get used to Allen's voice. Now honestly, Allen's voice is amazing, but this album(Damnation Game) might not be the best example of it, as it is the first album he sung for Sym X.

  • @vbdude006

    Sounds a lot better, thanks!

  • Symphony X is there own genre of awesome.

  • 5 people missed the like button

  • love the double paddle, and the guitar

  • Romeo must get his kicks by making other guitarists feel inferior -_-

  • five idiots do not know what good music!!!!

  • This MUSIC IS GREAT!! It reminds me of the music of Yngwie Malmsteen.

  • the start reminds me Yngwie Malamsteen's Style :)

  • Progressive metal, black metal, power metal, heavy metal, trash metal, speed metal, white metal, slightly-dark-gray-metal,.... who cares. It's metal and it's good and that's all that matters

Suppose you have 2 bands, 1 black metal and 1 thrash metal,... then a 3rd band joins in which sounds like 50% black metal and 50% thrash metal, how would you name their style? trash-black metal? If u call it only trash metal, you alter the definition of trash metal.

Just keep it abstract and call it metal:)

  • @MartijnvanderGeest Actually, yeah...you do call it thrash/black metal.

  • gotta love those "damn.. damn.. damn.."'s at the end :D

  • @XxboVodxX Hahahahaha!

  • First song I ever heard by Symphony X, and a damn good one.

  • Best X album ever!

  • Symphony X eier det som er av "musikk" i dag

  • Russel is a legend. His voice is beyond comparison.

this song is as good as it gets.

its "old" but no song gets me on like thjis one..

One of my first Symphony X songs and still one of my favourites.

This song is one hell'of'a great music "make"

  • This is Bach's solfeggieto not Michael Romeo

  • I play this song solo cover... Michael Romeo is the great guitarrist...

  • ahh awsome, soo much awsomeness in 1 band, o btw labrie is incredibly whiney live, trust me i saw it with my own eyes an heard it with my own ears, this dude is soo much better live an i would loove to see him live

  • Why is it that the ignorant yell at others for being ignorant. People need to stop shitting on Labrie and understand what he did back in the day when Russel was just a teenager. Is Labrie currently one of the greatest singers in the world...hell no! Labrie (whose old) is nothing more than decent at times and won't be competing with russel but people need to understand that back in 92-93 when Labrie was belting like noone had done before (till he blew his voice out) he was fuckin untouchable!!

  • @hamielec untouchable by women lol, nah i love DT i saw them live in the progressive nation tour with opeth, trust me labrie is no longer that gud, his voice is inncreedibly winey an monotonic its awful, then u see this dude pure awsomeness, the best way to compare it is look at dream theaters cover of cemetary gates where u can hear them both

  • russel owns lebrie for the sheer fact that he is not a comeplete closet homosexual in denial. aside from that, russel is a great metal singer becasue he has a growl and sings with some balls, lebrie just wants to get ....pulled under...

  • The vocalist was responding to the solo at 4:26. He was like (fill in the blank).

  • Personal taste is personal taste. But will the world ever think that faar, and accept differences.

  • i love classical influenced guitar fer dudes, micheal romeo is just amazing

  • one of most impresive progmetal songs!

  • I love this song except of the dam, dam, damdam at the and.

  • I just can't get bored of this band...

Enough variety to keep you reaching for these albums year after year.

  • Fucking great band ever

  • Amazing!

  • can someone tell me when this album was released?

  • @TheAnthonyp92 1995

  • @TheAnthonyp92

search on google you fool.. ¬¬

  • wtf?????? they rule before them

  • great song !!

    Symphony X is the best !! =D

  • 鳥肌がおさまらない・・・凄過ぎる!!ネオクラシカルの最終進化形態だなSymphony X

    これより先の進化はない。

  • well,i don't understand anythib you have said but... i agree XD

  • what is the name/composer of the classical part starting at 00:26 anyone know? i know romeo has mentioned it somewhere but i completely forgot.

  • it's called "Solfeggietto" composed by Carl Philpp Emannuel Bach

  • Best singer alive?

  • by far

  • Dude, Roy Kahn.

  • Roy Kahn is "meh", his voice sounds a little stressed to me. Russel Allen is much more superior in range.

  • Russel Allen's voice is far more powerful than Khan's, but I dont really like Allen when he's not doing his metal. I prefer Roy Khan's overall cuz I love his ballad and metal voices both.

  • i agree 100%

allen has a far better voice for music like this. and dispite his versility khan shows much more emotion in his vocal range, so in my opinion just like allen blazes khan in this style, khan shreds allen's vocals in songs like ghost opera.

love both of their styles, and wouldn't have either change their ways. ^_^

  • how do these guys write music, not only i enjoy listening to them, but i've always been asking myself on how they are able to compose such masterpieces.

  • Since when is he good? He goes nicely with the music and I'm not going to complain, but he's not very... god.

  • Name 100 better singers and I'll let you say he isn't good. He's REALLY good as a matter of fact.

  • Hahaha, I want to just feed you a list of opera vocalists, but I'm not even going to do that.

  • I don't mean to get wrapped up in a comment battle that isn't my own, but this is to difficult to resist.

Djbehnkevideo, although I agree with you that opera is an art form worthy of a great amount of respect, Russel is a fantastic vocalist. The variety he provides in a genre full of growling and average singers is unfathomable. Russel is miles above James Labrie (I love DT but Labrie is a bit behind Russel) and miles above others.

  • if James Labrie didn't originally screw up his voice, which he has done a decent job of recuperating from, he would be better than Russel Allen

  • I disagree, James has always had a very limited range of vocal talents. He does well within his genre, though I feel Russell bests him in it. What really sets them apart however is that Russell can do many other incredible things, belting out opera like sounds and doing death metal growls to name a few. Labrie was never able to do these things to my knowledge.

  • yeh hes better than james (or should i say john) but will you shutup and enjoy it and not argue about DT and SX, they're two different bands ffs.

  • @hofmannsapprentice : John who?

  • @satchrocks34 john labrie. his stage name is james as there were too many johns in the band already

  • @hofmannsapprentice got that completely wrong... his name is kevin but there were too many kevins in the band.

  • Russels variety is aparent in his solo album "Atomic Soul"..

  • @DannyLovesRush: Yeah, LaBrie is DT's weak point. My favorite DT tracks are often instrumentals (The Dance of Eternity, Stream of Consciousness, Blind Faith's instrumental section). By contrast, I would never in my sane mind say any SX track without vocals is my favorite one by them.

  • @DannyLovesRush I was just listening to some Symphony X and I began reading some comments on this video and then I saw my name XD. Anyway, I see where you're coming from now. I've warmed up to his vocals a lot and I now see where everyone was coming from. At the time I didn't find him very skilled, but I now realize he is. I do want to point out that I have always liked his vocals because they work very well with the music.

  • @djbehnkevideo

then i'll get wrapped up even 7 months later

just because they're opera singers they are better than russel allen?!

just talk to them and they will see his power, of course there is no such thing as:

"the best singer in the world"

but you cannot deny his godness, he's got a fuckin great range, power, variety on techniques, that even most opera singer don't! you know, these guys study technique either! some of them as much as classical players

don't talk SHIT when you don't know!

  • So fucking good.

  • 2:04 evil! xD

  • very very very best!!!

  • blaster!

  • omg rusell allen is soo much better at singing than james hetfield. he can sing tough and heavy sounding, almost like thrash metal, but he has a high vocal range that sounds great.

  • Russel is one of my favorite singers, all Hetfield has is "AY-AYYYYYYYYYY-JAH!!

  • I know Symphony X is Prog metal..

But i think sometimes they sound like power metal ?

    Or its just me :P...

  • The guys in the band hate getting labeled, but to me they ARE "symphonic progressive neoclassical power metal", with some thrashing riffs and a few gothic atmospheres, so there's a lot to symphony x

  • @BaronVonVascht

Listen to Helstar's "Nosferatu" - there's not much difference between the genres, when they're at their best. Helstar are a Power Metal band, but Nosferatu is seriously progressive.

  • @BaronVonVascht actually my friend they can be called like a progressive power metal band :)

  • @BaronVonVascht They are really influenced by Power Metal. A lot.

  • @PowerSlaveAlfons well actually he isnt influenced by anything. and if he was it would be classical.

  • There is by no means any power metal INFLUENCE... I guess thats just the sound you get when you mix metal and classical music. Power Metal is DragonForce FTL.

  • @KyleJPie10 When I'm talking about Influence, I mean the riffs sound a bit like the Riffs in Power Metal songs (And no, I'm not talking about Dragonforce), just way better.

  • @KyleJPie10 Power metal can actually be good, unlike DragonForce. Listen to Manowar, HammerFall, Iced Earth, Helloween (I really recommend the Keeper of the Seven Keys albums), 3 Inches of Blood, etc.

  • @InAGaddaDaVida29 True... but Iced Earth is more thrash. I completely agree though.

  • @InAGaddaDaVida29 Yo i love HammerFall man.

  • @BaronVonVascht Symphony X is progressive AND power metal :)

  • @BaronVonVascht I hate when people say that >_<... Paradise Lost is very power metalish... BUT NO OTHERS! lol.

  • @KyleJPie10 Really? Because all of their albums (apart from their debut which I've only heard one song from) sound like power metal to me. Especially The Divine Wings of Tragedy.

You already know this but DragonForce is a godawful representation of power metal. Much more quality in the genre (Kamelot, Stratovarius, Firewind, Sonata Arctica, Avantasia, and those bands that other guy mentioned).

  • @BaronVonVascht Prog metal is just progressive because its not afraid to look like anything else. Prog metal can be something and its oposite at the same time, as longs as it follows the designed concept for the song. Its like another brick in the wall with that disco beat. (english is not my native language, sorry if i had some mistakes...)

  • @BaronVonVascht

They're a blend of both, but some songs lean more to one genre or the other.

  • @BaronVonVascht they're mainly symphonic but sometimes they cant resist a little side influence:P lol the odd thing about them is that some times their albums tend to sound drastically different from the others. Theyfall under like 3 or 4 genres technically. It's pretty hard to pinpoint exactly what they are really.

  • @BaronVonVascht obviously they are influenced by power and neoclassical metal

  • @BaronVonVascht yes it's true, sometimes they seem a power metal band but also michael romeo said "we are a progressive band"

    anyway 5 stars,great song,i didn't know it.

symphony x are the only one progressive metal band i like it!!! great!!

  • @BaronVonVascht Nope, you're right. As a matter of fact they are often categorized in specialized magazines and webzines as "symphonic progressive power metal". Add to that several neoclassical elements, some gothic atmospheres, and even and few thrash metal riffs in some songs; all in a masterful blend.

  • @BaronVonVascht i'm new to symphony X but i think they sound more like neo-classic metal. You can even hear a bit of solfegietto by C.P.E Bach at 0.27.

  • @BaronVonVascht this is prog metal, sounds a bit like symphonic powermetal idd

  • @BaronVonVascht I personally consider the power metal.

  • @BaronVonVascht they're kind of a mix of power and progressive metal really, one of my favourite band!

  • @BaronVonVascht AND SOMETIME NEOCLASSICAL METAL

  • @BaronVonVascht more like neoclassical ;)

  • i don't think the song relates to the book. But I know the book...

  • Fucking great song indeed. But what I always wondered: Maybe there are some fellas here who know the book "The Damnation Game" by Clive Barker (one of my favourite books by the way).

If so, do you know if the song relates to the book in some way? (I'm not English, so I don't know whether I get all the lyrics correctly :-))

  • Well, I think really big chances that they are related to that book, because it's one of those things that Symphony X likes to write about. But yeah, I haven't read that book, so I wouldn't know if they are really related to each other...

  • fuck, this is so badthefuckass!!

  • What u mean Glufius?

  • Symphony X is freaking good.. Starting listen to them few days ago :D

  • try 7 years.

    still doesn't get old!

  • every song sounds like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure :(

  • If god had a favorite piece, it was probably this one.

  • gods of olimpus made this song xD

  • This is not a song

    its a piece

  • Symphony X=EPICNESS

  • At 2:21. Is that a falsetto or head voice?

  • head voice.

  • Yeah, head voice.

  • Amazing, Russell Allen its my favorite singer the first song i heard of symphony X was A Fools Paradise and i get shocked by his voice, but when i heard the accolade 1and i see them live in Mexico (i got a video in my chanel if you wanna see it) i realize that he is more than a simple human, he is a fucking God

  • Only place to find tabs for a song like this is to pray to the gods of Rock.

  • Yea, that and search google for a few minutes

  • If you have any requests just ask

  • where can i find tabs for this??

  • In the Hall of Epic.

    correction, you BECOME god

  • symphony x is godly

  • nice song!!!!!!!!!! yeaaahhhhhhhhhhh
