  • i love how you explain this. you make it so simple. i've seen other videos where people just ramble on and on

  • will you marry me?

  • You're so smart and pretty cute

    Thanks! for the info

  • wow....careful when taking advice from this....Cortisol is the "anti-stress" hormone the one your body releases in response to stressors!!!! she is way off track....oh yea and she fails to mention that Cortisol is the ONLY hormone you can not live without!!! if you are exposed to stress (injury, infection, etc) and you have no cortisol, you DIE...period.....

what makes you fat are the stresses you are putting on yourself and your eating habits...NOT cortisol!!!

  • @puerco911 your mom has cortisol

  • Great information! Thank you for keeping it so simple and easy to understand :)

  • interesting topic

  • I've been getting back into shape for summer, and I love watching your videos. You seem to know your stuff.

  • I think she's explaining it very well. At first you are stunned by her beauty but after few words, you can appreciate a simplified but correct explanation of this topic. Good job!

  • nice work... And the best thing that i saw in this vdo was your face.... Cute.!

  • She is HOT!! She lowered my cortisol!

  • hi chellefit! i've been looking for tables showing that very graph you have drawn though comparing 3 meals per day to more than three. i keep hearing it's better for your insulin to have more meals per day but i can't see how that works logically. it seems to me that the size of a meal has no bearing on digestion time. so if you know of any empirical studies showing the 24 hour insulin levels of the two scenarios i'd be really happy if you could link them for me.

    thanks for the video also!

  • A hot chick explaining stuff? I'm in!

  • beautiful explanation....She is as well...

  • @Strangefruithanging rofl i think she has a very good grasp on the theory.

2.36 tells you exactly what you're trying to tell her.

  • Comment removed

  • @Strangefruithanging i guess then you stressed the wrong part. the issue is that there is no single hormone responsible for the "flight or fight" response. the thing is, she knows this, you know this and i know this. but she is trying to tell people who don't know this. and is correct as far as the point she is making is concerned.

you can nitpick but she is actually more correct calling cortisol the stress hormone rather than adrenaline.

  • Thanks for educating me about my body!Keep making videos Beautiful:)

Also, according to what you said, would you recommend waking up, stretching, then meditating before any morning cardio and/or strength training to releave stress?

  • please uglify a little bit before making a vid! thanks :)

  • How would someone with P.T.S.D,,,,lower the cortisol levels?

  • cortisol is not a steroid in your body. cortisol is a hormone in your body. steroids are drugs. when they are naturally made in your body they are called hormones. corticalsteroids are antinflamation drugs. atleast learn the difference between a natural hormone and steroid. they arent called steroids when you make them naturally. they are called steroids when they are synthetically produced in a lab or when they are extracted and used outside the body then they are called steroids

  • Well during exercise 1,5+ hours cortisol mobilizes fat as fuel, which will use fat - also belly fat. So during training stress cortisol isn't really a bad thing. It mobilizes fat to save glukogen, which is a more vital that fat and fat is also more available.

  • gorgeous ppl should be refrained from making videos, so ugly ppl watching them dont get depressed and go through "stress"

  • I have a question. You say the the liver finds energy to put out into the body. But didn't that energy come from the body in the first place?? So what's the difference? Is the fat simply being moved around from one part of the body to another?

  • very useful info, thanks

  • Okay yeah- she is pretty. Who cares? It's the concise presentation of such useful info that made me subscribe=) Good stuff!

  • so beautiful...

  • Very good video, so many information, very well explained.

  • is does cortisol prevent muscle growth? i lift hard in mornings and then do cardio but i eat a very good diet and drink lots of water but is the cortisol produced by cardio gonna hurt my muscle growth?

  • @dylanfran2009

yes the cortisol will act as a "tax" on your muscle gains as it will actually cause your body to eat your muscle for nutrients. if you can keep your cortisol low you will have more muscle if you do everything else right

  • This is brilliant!! So easy to understand, good job!!!

  • that was the first "fat burning" tip video that had to do with cortisol. well, out of the ones that ive seen at least. great vid:]

your beautiful btw. not just your looks but your personality and your passion to fitness and to help people<3 i hope i find a girl like you some day.

  • This is so educational, thank you very much. Looking forward to learning much more from you.

  • pretty and informative!

  • you guy please pay attention to what she say... i know is hard because she's so beautiful, but please listen to her because we can learn.

p.s. i'm saying all that but is hard for me to concentrate also because she is so beautiful!!!!

  • you are adorable

  • wow this is really good to know... i have pcos is from insulin resistance and also suffer from stress, i have always had a lot of fat on my belly. i have tried dieting and exercise and i can never seem to shift it.

  • Anxiety and Panic Attacks release huge amounts of Adrenaline and Cortisol. So when she says mental stress she is absolutely right. So many people have fears through out the day. Flying, driving on freeways, even raising kids is and can be stressful so I totally agree with the mental side of this video. Good video by the way. :)

  • its so true dude...i have chronic anxiety due to high body fat for over 20 years.

  • @lavakava do something or else you won't live very long.

  • Grelin causes hunger, while leptin lowers it, high insulin levels causes belly fat, not exactly cortisol. Because cortisol mobilize energy ressources to make sugar for the brain and magnify the power of catecholamines (ex: adrenaline for blood pressure). You do lose weight, but is the excess blood sugar that triggers belly fat. Cortisol is an extremely powerful glucogenesis that stimulate glucagon an antagonist of insulin to make sugar.

  • It breaks off muscle proteins.

  • N.B. You put an insulin clamp to a cushing patient, the patient will lose weight from fat!!! but blood sugar will eventually rise and kill the patient...

  • cortisol helps to get out fat from fat cells and use it as an energy resource .

they sometimes recommend to go to run in the morning to get rid of bodyfat . Because in the morning the cortisol level is high ( they claim so ).

Cortisol also destroys muscles to get amino acids into use if needed .

So they dont recommend for bodybuiders to do running in the morning after getting out of bed .

  • I really like how you explain the thing , but i have some doubts .

In my vision the process goes so :

Food causes booldsugar to rise . Bloodsugar causes insulin to rise . Insulin takes the nutrients to muscles , but onely if the muscles need energy ( it is case after exercise or when the body is hungry caused by not eating long time ) . If the muscles doesn't need nutrients ( bloodsugar ) then the insulin transports nutrients to fat cells and helps to transform them to fat .

  • dude this chick is a nutritionist, she knows what shes on about

  • presentation and content well delivered. I enjoyed the narrative that goes hand in hand with the content. It is easy to see how it is understood in your thought process. well done. hope you keep making these clips.

  • In Summary, what we're talking about only happens in "long term stress" to have any sort of effect. And if it does take effect, you're breaking down your body and also compromising your immune system because of cortisol's antiinflammatory effect.

  • Gluconeogenesis breaks down glycerol, lactic acid, and some amino acids to make glucose. Glucose is used by the brain and glycogen throughout the entire body is spared for the brain and instead switch to burning Fat and a little bit of muscle for energy

  • what she said in the video sounds alot like what you read on bodybuilding website which is misleading in some ways.

Glucocorticoids can happen with stress like she says. Generally it is to conserve fuel for the brain through gluconeogenesis.

  • testing can't type my message

  • when your cortisol levels are up, your body starts to break down fatty acids and amino acids in the body for fuel. Also known as Glucose Sparing effect.

Understand that what she said about insulin is okay, but it is all within "normal limits" of the body.

as far as her sayin "the body doesn't know how much it needs" ...that is not backed up at all. (8:06). Also the comment about being "hungry" is also a sweepin generalization. What she is saying sounds completely like the

  • I have type one diabeties and have a cortisol bellyfat problem. I talked to my doctor and he said I could take supplements I was wondering if you would suggest any natural cortisol burning supplement?

  • Great video, really easy to understand and so simple, Keep up the good work!!

  • Thanks so much for commenting! I appreciate you watching, glad it could be of some use for you :)

  • Thank you :) so usefull! and good to know

  • you are welcome! Glad you found a tidbit or two! :)

  • @chellefit I went through, hypocortisolism last year. Going through a break up, family going broke, working 3 jobs & getting at most 4hrs sleep a night. Oddly enough, I body started having hormonal imbalance. & eventually cortisol deficiency & lost abt 12% body weight. Once I was diagnosed, I started going to the gym, eating & sleeping better. I supplement myself with multi-vitamins & BCAA. Since, I have put my weight & mass back on & on the way to have a six pack. Hormone balance test saved me.

  • Thank you so so much for explaining this. I never got it before watching this. You really broke it down and you are very engaging. :)
