I would love to see health insurance reform, but I truly don't want a nanny state.

Federal govt. programs and regulations are pervasive enough in our lives right now.

I bet if we removed barriers to competition and the LAYERS of bearuocrats, costs would go down.

How exactly are you going to compete against the large insurance companies ... Go ahead ... why not start an insurance company ... see how far you get.

This simply isn't true. Believe me, I am NO fan of health insurance companies but there are some real barriers.

First, as the owner of a small business, 20 employees, we are not allowed by federal statute to group together to get discounts like big companies.

Second, you can't purchase insurance across state lines. This REALLY limits our choices here in Tenn.

Third, it is HIGH time to get the lawyers out of the equation by tort reform thereby ending frivilous lawsuits.

We're really on the same side ... at the end of the day people need care. The question is how we solve the problem. So you (I'm assuming are conservative as am I) believe we simply need to fix the current system. I've lost the ability to have any faith in the fact that can be done. As an engineer I like to work with known parameters. Other countries have solved this problem and done it effectively. All the points you made are true ... and should be addressed regardless.

I look at this debate from Canada and it flabergasts me all the time the amount of delusions and propaganda we can hear in the US. Unfortunately, as with any other issues, the loud crazies are always the ones to get the attention. Rational, thoughtful, compromise oriented people tend to get drowned in this noise. Hopefully, they will wake up and rally like during the election for your sake! This from a social medicine child who, like all of them, is very happy with it! Brake a leg dems...:)

Because a majority of the electorate voted for them based on progressive ideas including healthcare ,including a public option,this was a cornerstone of the obama campaign and was no secret,,,democrats had and have a popular mandate

It is how they represent the majority who sent them to washington
