For the game, it just happened. Both teams were checking hard and the game was close - it just blew up. Carcillo defended his teammate that Bernier was punching and bang - he got hurt. Boynton initiated a fight in the last meeting where he got an instigator penalty (maybe with Bernier?), but there wasn't any chippiness to the game before this incident.

We've played this team about 9 times this season, Roenick is an Ex coyote.. and carcillo is just a badass

Well Phoenix always plays the sharks tough and many times the sharks got embarrassing losses to them when they shouldn't have. I also know the two teams tend to fight each other a lot. I know Douglas Murray has fought more guys from Phoenix than any other team.

@brand666 The coyotes are usually a pretty quiet team compared to the other teams in the pacific but during this game the sharks had been imposing hit after hit and im guessing it got under the coyotes skin. the shakrs were also playing a lot of rookies trying to make an impression I was surprised when i saw this tho because usually the chippy teams in the pacific are the ducks and stars because if you dont mess with the sharks then they wont meess with u do ul get fucked up
