@VECTOR812 some master accept outsiders and if you want to get in the real shoalin temple you have to change your passpord to chinese that means you have to know evrything about buddism
WHOA O.O that will be very hard to fully do, hm, but its REALLY worth the training. sigh, sometimes being a atheist has its drawbacks for me :[ i can never learn shaolin from the real masters
He put the bowl on his legs to make sure he didn't raise from that stance... That's crazy. I feel his pain. These guys must become a beast if they were ever back into a corner. This is extreme training. A way of life.
@choyleefutkid1 I fully understand that. However they should show how effective there training is. All this flashy moves breaking boards and rocks is not impressive. And I'm not sayin this to hate I always felt Kung fu is the oldest and encyclopedic when it comes to combat. But even with all that knowledge sometimes its useless in a real fight. So they should show a real fight. Not to discredit them. And Shaolin Kung fu may be effective but it does not come close to Kung Fu.
Killing with one strike is really not as easy as it sounds even for a master martial artist. Maybe a few in a thousand attempts will work. (Okay okay.. I'm not basing this on any kind of research.)
Also, I've always liked Shaolin, but I also think the kung fu we see from them today is not made for fighting. Maybe they do practice practical things too, we just don't get to see it. Maybe in less commercial temples?

@WillFiordalisi It means that he has to move his leg down flat enough to keep the bowl steady which it's pretty painful to do, even though it look simple to most = I
@WillFiordalisi Well then it's pretty simple, makes it more harder right harder right, it could happend to anyone. Either that it's something else = )
@Fretz1987 In the shaolin I'm joining, they are doing 5 minutes worth of it after constant other stances like cat stance and other stances, holding all of them for similiar lengths in time. So it's harder than 5 minutes and that's first month class. Then other stuff training. I watched a full grown man cry but do it successfully. But 2 hours -.-

This is a Very hard way to train but the Best! im training Kung fu From Kim Son Quang family. To stand that way if you do itt right you will feel like dying. seriusly but after a year you dont feel it
Shaolin is amazing. i hate the douchebag narator though.... if you watch the entire show he says 'at least one hour a day' or 'two hours everyday' and there ends up being over 24 hours in a day of just training. Its horseshlt...
This people dont train to kill lol, they train for sports which is sanda ,and they fight like any other sanda fighter, after all sanda is also sports, not to kill. U guys got it wrong lol
In the end, it isn't about whether your training is traditional or modern. It all comes down to 2 things really:
1. How intense is the training. Many tradiitonal and modern MA schools are crap-house, with students not being pushed to toughen up and develop realt skill or conditioning.
2. Does your style cultivate you as a person, mind body and soul/emotional side? If it does not lead to your betterment in these areas, well ...
I think the whole modern vs traditional MA thing is based on insecurity, on both sides. Modern countries and fighting styles are resentful of the respect that traditional styles have, due to centureies, if not millenia of history they possess.
Traditional styles are resentful of modern ones, due to the fact that they are marketed as more efficient, and as a result pose a threat to their continuation, ending the preservation of such beautiful fighting culture.
I have huge respect for these guys but look at 1:31, the horse stance.Thethingthe narrator says that this is reserved for the elite ofthe elite, andnot even any ofthem there did it properly, their stances are kinda wrong and u can clearly c extreme pain in their faces andthey are expected to do it for 2 hrs straight?Again i tink they do it in sets or so,1-2 hours straight is impossible. My sifu say 2 hrs st8 is not true these days. And belive me im in KF,vids just say this to make them look badass.
2 hours ?! lol i think the do it and rest, and do it again till it totals up to 2 hours . Its kinda impossible to do it for 2 hrs straight seriosly, the lactic build up is huge and no matter how strong u are, the brain sends signals(neuro transmitters)to the legs to stop fuctioning ,or else the leg muscles will teara or worse. 1-2 hours straight? maybe in sets,im not here to fight or argue wif anyone , but 2 hours is kinda bullshit. The longest known was 30min so far. Respect though xD
@MechPhantom Well that's why they meditate. My Dai Gee did 1 HOUR straight after weapon forms and empty hand forms. Plus 4 matches with sifus. And the whole time he just focused on his breath. It was insane! But my sifu has done 1:30+ so I'm sure its possible for some.
@leo7martinez Hmm i dont know whether to believe u or not ,but its cool lol, but yea no offense but im the type of person that needs some proof before i believe some 1. Its like this i can say that americans invented kung fu without proof and every 1 believes me,i hope u undersand thx man for ur sharing.
@MechPhantom Yeah I mean I honestly don't expect you to believe me cause its a difficult thing. And testing to check up on skills and their cardio and stamina
@leo7martinez Btw thx for ur reply thoguh. but i doubt it is possible to do it 2 hours, not evewn 30 mins lol haha, so yea all i/we need is proof, such as a 2 hour continuous video of them doing it then i will believe it.Nevertheless respect to them. see ya bro thx again
@danpt2000 2 minutes in horse stance is bad enough, especially in a low horse. The trick seems to be relaxation, but I'm a long way off that, I'm still in the "ouch that hurts" and "walk like I've wet myself the next day" stage...
I went to shaolin kung fu lesson gotr hooked on it the trainig is reallyy hectic hanstand as a basic warm up exercise it is good though for your body and mind.
@Knowledgeseeker12 COOL how long must u do for the handstand? thx , if u can explianm more pls do i wANNA learn more of shaolin XD. Btw ur in shaolin rite? theser days i heard that shaolin is more like modern wushu and acrobatic shit rite? very rare pure shaolin arts. Its dat true?? thx again
At least the monks respect each other and work together rather then fighting with each other.
Shaolin Kung Fu is about discipline, respect, and honor not on violence and brute strength. It's a true fighting style that separates itself from MMA and UFC.
UFC and boxer's good at fighting one on one but if i came down to 200 monks vs 200 UFC fighters fat chance for the UFC fighters they don't have the discipline to work together either.
@dynastyflygon You've been watching way too many movies and cartoons. Sorry to destroy your fantasy, but an MMA fighter or Boxer would destroy these fakes
@PlagueRiddenGoat waaat?? are u on crack??? to these guys fighting comes naturally and its a way of life for them. i aint taking anything away from a MMA fighter or anything its jus that these guys are naturally better fighters
It's always ridiculous to see how people bicker over which art is better. What's better? A hammer or a wrench? It depends on what your job is. MMA and boxing is made for the ring and sport. For that purpose, it's excellent. Shaolin Kung Fu was developed for warfare where there are no rules and also includes use of weapons. For that purpose, it's excellent. People who are serious in practicing any martial art all have discipline, respect, and martial skill. That's the most important thing.
@fuxu123 boxing dont give u power, just a 6 pack and strength punches.... these guys use power and swift attacks.... u saw how they stay for 2 hours in pain excercises.... boxer will get killed against 1 of those
@cosminso1230 um no offense but a professional boxer can punch with more power than one of these monks. thats simply because they train for hours every day doing only one thing, punching. one of these monks would still destroy them in a fight though
@ukatam couldn't agree more... if a boxer fights outside the ring he or her automatically gets arrested, because 1 punch to the face will brake all ur bones in ur head :(
Kung Fu is the best i started this year is the best My Master is Gold Sash it took him 17 whole years to become master i am yellow belt right now i sued to to Tae Kwon Do before as well so i knew the basics bridging the gap snap kick front kick knee level side kic the 3 bear hugs round house kick and tiger claw that move is for taking some ones eyes out if you are in a life threatning situation Kung Fu is the best

to use a art that trains to defeat people who are taught to kill, without killing them... is indeed a powerful martial art
khamani90 1 year ago
This people dont train to kill lol, they train for sports which is sanda ,and they fight like any other sanda fighter, after all sanda is also sports, not to kill. U guys got it wrong lol
MechPhantom 1 year ago 2
the second guy they show is probably the best sweeper ive seen lol
kobudofighter34 1 year ago
In the end, it isn't about whether your training is traditional or modern. It all comes down to 2 things really:
1. How intense is the training. Many tradiitonal and modern MA schools are crap-house, with students not being pushed to toughen up and develop realt skill or conditioning.
2. Does your style cultivate you as a person, mind body and soul/emotional side? If it does not lead to your betterment in these areas, well ...
Clown7916 1 year ago
I think the whole modern vs traditional MA thing is based on insecurity, on both sides. Modern countries and fighting styles are resentful of the respect that traditional styles have, due to centureies, if not millenia of history they possess.
Traditional styles are resentful of modern ones, due to the fact that they are marketed as more efficient, and as a result pose a threat to their continuation, ending the preservation of such beautiful fighting culture.

That's not a Horse Stance, it's a Back Stance
They must do this a total of 2 hrs a day, but not necessarily all at once (e.g., 20 min here, 30 min there for a total of 2hrs)
SamiRaMaati 1 year ago
@SamiRaMaati It's si ping ma ( having a stablilty like a horse with 4 legs), also known as ma bu (horse stance)
qiankundanuoyi1 1 year ago
@SamiRaMaati
Named differently sometimes. Both are literally the same thing.

MechPhantom 1 year ago
2 hours ?! lol i think the do it and rest, and do it again till it totals up to 2 hours .
MechPhantom 1 year ago
@MechPhantom Well that's why they meditate. My Dai Gee did 1 HOUR straight after weapon forms and empty hand forms. Plus 4 matches with sifus. And the whole time he just focused on his breath. It was insane! But my sifu has done 1:30+ so I'm sure its possible for some.
leo7martinez 1 year ago
@leo7martinez Hmm i dont know whether to believe u or not ,but its cool lol, but yea no offense but im the type of person that needs some proof before i believe some 1. Its like this i can say that americans invented kung fu without proof and every 1 believes me,i hope u undersand thx man for ur sharing.
MechPhantom 1 year ago
@MechPhantom Oh yeah dude I'm the same way. I didn't believe either of them till I saw one testing. Hopefully one day you'll see it, it's a trip!
leo7martinez 1 year ago
@leo7martinez So they can do it for real or what? and what did u mean by one testinG? thx
MechPhantom 1 year ago
@MechPhantom Yeah I mean I honestly don't expect you to believe me cause its a difficult thing. And testing to check up on skills and their cardio and stamina
leo7martinez 1 year ago
@leo7martinez Btw thx for ur reply thoguh. but i doubt it is possible to do it 2 hours, not evewn 30 mins lol haha, so yea all i/we need is proof, such as a 2 hour continuous video of them doing it then i will believe it.Nevertheless respect to them. see ya bro thx again

2 hours in horse stance (zha ma) is killer. your quads would hurt , cant imagine what their arms feel like.
danpt2000 1 year ago 45
@danpt2000 2 minutes in horse stance is bad enough, especially in a low horse. The trick seems to be relaxation, but I'm a long way off that, I'm still in the "ouch that hurts" and "walk like I've wet myself the next day" stage...
fauxsham 1 year ago
@danpt2000 2 hours?...try this stand 20 minutes and you'll be amazed how painfull it is;)

MechPhantom 1 year ago
cant believe how many shaolin masters there are on youtube. i feel blessed to be in the same cyberspace as all you devine incarnations. LMAO
mrgezau 1 year ago 4
At least the monks respect each other and work together rather then fighting with each other.
Shaolin Kung Fu is about discipline, respect, and honor not on violence and brute strength. It's a true fighting style that separates itself from MMA and UFC.
UFC and boxer's good at fighting one on one but if i came down to 200 monks vs 200 UFC fighters fat chance for the UFC fighters they don't have the discipline to work together either.
soulsaber2007 1 year ago
ufc and boxing both fails because it limits you, boxing doesnt allow you to use the legs (fail)
ufc doesnt allow strikes to the eyes or to any pressure points
and yes pressure points are real, but it takes years and years of practice to master
dynastyflygon 1 year ago
@dynastyflygon You've been watching way too many movies and cartoons. Sorry to destroy your fantasy, but an MMA fighter or Boxer would destroy these fakes
PlagueRiddenGoat 1 year ago
@PlagueRiddenGoat bravo, good job for having no life and browsing through like 10 pages of comments and replying to a comment i made 1 year ago
anyways, mma and boxer guys dont train to kill
these guys do
the first thing they teach you in any kind of kung fu is just aim for the eyes or groin
boxing and mma, the first thing they teach you is, no hitting the groin or eyes or any other sensitive body parts
dynastyflygon 1 year ago
@PlagueRiddenGoat waaat?? are u on crack??? to these guys fighting comes naturally and its a way of life for them. i aint taking anything away from a MMA fighter or anything its jus that these guys are naturally better fighters
IceMann402 1 year ago
It's always ridiculous to see how people bicker over which art is better. What's better? A hammer or a wrench? It depends on what your job is. MMA and boxing is made for the ring and sport. For that purpose, it's excellent. Shaolin Kung Fu was developed for warfare where there are no rules and also includes use of weapons. For that purpose, it's excellent. People who are serious in practicing any martial art all have discipline, respect, and martial skill. That's the most important thing.
hulkout666 1 year ago 2
wtf these little guys want power in their punches they should take up boxing.
fuxu123 1 year ago
@fuxu123 boxing dont give u power, just a 6 pack and strength punches.... these guys use power and swift attacks.... u saw how they stay for 2 hours in pain excercises.... boxer will get killed against 1 of those
cosminso1230 1 year ago 3
@cosminso1230 um no offense but a professional boxer can punch with more power than one of these monks. thats simply because they train for hours every day doing only one thing, punching. one of these monks would still destroy them in a fight though
ukatam 1 year ago
@ukatam couldn't agree more... if a boxer fights outside the ring he or her automatically gets arrested, because 1 punch to the face will brake all ur bones in ur head :(
