im going in for gamma knife in the novemberish time ill be going to cedar sinai with dr yu as my head doctor ive had a tumor removed from my head it was in my ventricle and it only took a year for a full recovery i was 21 at the time 3 years later we got a brain scan and saw that it was growing back looking forward to killing this sucker once and for all
Hello. I had this done in January of 2005. I have had to go every 6 months and then one year after that as of this year for a MRI. As for what JOY57 said about the drilling. It is correct to a point. They did not do mine correctly. Had to unscrew and start over. Taking the halo off, felt like who ever was sitting on my head got off. I spent 2 days on the bathroom floor close to the toilet throwing up. My last MRI revealed it has stopped shrinking but it is not growing. Mine was a golfball size.
My husband had this proceedure earlier this month with Dr. Londsford. I appreciate you sharing your experiences... however I think it's important to clarify that they do NOT drill holes in your brain as you stated, but rather they drill four small holes several less than 1mm into the skull... just to hold the halo in place. Again, Thanks for sharing.
Those little holes went past my skull and they couldnt get that incision to stop bleeding even after I woke from the anesthesia. The hole in my forehead from the clamp caused more swelling than my incision. So, they did in fact drill holes in my brain
Wanted to say thanks for this vid, helps relieve some of my anxiety. I will be undergoing Gamma soon for a AVM. Still very scared regarding the halo. Hopefully it will all work out. Good luck to you.
Thanks for letting us know about the laser unit in your city. There is evolving technology that is making many tumor surgeries obsolete which is a good thing. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us. Take care! Harold
hey, good to hear your brain tumours are getting sorted, but as they're benign, if they try to offer you radio-kind-of treatment, please think carefully. my aunt had brain cancer tumours, they've cleared her of that but she's been half paralysed and other stuff by the radio treatment :( i'm definately not trying to put you off, just saying please think carefully! i like your advice...
Thanks for your post to my video. At this point in time they are not considering radio treatment or any other forms of treatment. If I were to have that done it would be coordinated by my neurosurgeon at Thomas Jefferson U in Phili PA. He is one of the top doctors in the US. Thanks for your concern and advice however. It is all good. Thank you. Take care! Harold
dang, hope you get that taken care of... glad they're benign; but its no reason to ignore them, good thing you got it checked out. if you want, check out my profile.
Thanks for your post and concern. I have been taking care of the tumors and myself to make sure that my health remains good. I did check out your profile. You have written some good things. I give you credit for being a thoughtful person and that you take time to think issues through and form your own opinions about them. I do thank you for watching my videos and wish you the best. Take care. Harold
Not at this point in time. They are remaining stable and that is a good thing. I get a yearly MRI to evaluate the status of the tumors and so far so good. Thanks for your concern and interest. Hope you have a good one. Take care of yourself. Harold
