  • Dear Professor,

I have been watching violinists playing Wieniawski's Scherzo Tarantelle. The main melody is composed of so many notes but only about one-third of the notes are heard. Are there any special techniques required or it's achieved by playing extremely fast?

  • great series, however there is one thing I can not get down. I can not get the string crossing over a string. An example like hitting on note on a G string after being on the E string for some quite time. Any suggestions?

  • he once performed Sibelius concerto, and i thought it was amazing!

  • You are formidable teacher Proffesor TE

I thank you for these videos.

  • great

  • These lessons are such a find! Thank you so much. I have played (not too seriously) for over 40 years and in the last year have gotten more down to business. All the information on the internet is wonderful for refreshing knowledge, but these videos are so great, new techniques can be learned, the explanations are so complete. You are a wonderful teacher!

  • Thank you so much for these lessons.

  • I watch the series twice... I am having some trouble with my crossing from a to e from tip to center. I am so relieved that your videos are here to assist. I watch the string crossing series in its entirety and play along with you.. until I get it right. I was on the website you suggested in your profile, and it was not as encouraging as I expected, I think I'll stick to your series for now..

  • I studied all 7 series and you did very good analysis in each small section and put them altogether at the end. Now I understand the mechanical behind.

I wonder what inspire you in doing these video? They are absolutely great. I have been watching last two days and practise with improvement.

  • THank you!

    this is great!

  • great video, one question though: which string crossing should we use while playing a piece? Is it up to how fast the tempo is or is it a personal choice?

  • Good question. I think in the beginning, the most important thing is clean string crossings. Full arm motions (bringing the upper arm along) close to the middle of the bow. As you learn wrist and finger motions you will start to add them a bit. Also, as you learn to play faster, you will have to use more subtle motions in your string crossings.

  • that makes sense =) thanks!

  • Great lesson!
