Have you thought about diet and recovery? I've got a pretty balanced diet and over the past 12 months cut down on alcohol etc,
Also, I'm not ready to really sprint at 100%, I've been doing run throughs and jogs, I might have to do some more pool work. I also went skiing 3 weeks ago and had no problems. Anyway, back to the diet point I was making, have you made any chances during rehab of the achilles?
Diet is something I have ZERO problem with. I'm very particular of what I consume. Plenty of vegetables, legumes (beans), fish (wild, only), minimal meat (chicken, lean pork and VERY minimal amount of thin steaks), water consumption (at least 1gal/3.7L) everyday. I don't drink soda AT ALL. I don't eat candy or highly processed snack foods. I concern myself w/consuming foods of various colors with really just ONE day of eating whatever I'd like to kind of reward myself for being disciplined. :)
Also,..I am36 years old but in great shape...sounds cliche' but before my injury, i felt better and stronger than at any time in my twenties...also, how old are you? I'm thinking your'e around my age...and last- has anyone ever told you that you sound like harold ramis? lol...i mean that in the best way
Greetings, I don't think it sounds cliche' at all; what's true is true, right? :) I know EXACTLY what you mean though. As one moves into their 30's (I was 32@ time of injury), you have way more of mental approach to physical performance & there is an aspect of muscle/movement maturity that is pretty beneficial.
As far as the Harold Ramis thing , that would have been cool in the 80's. Not so cool now though. You are the SECOND person in my life that's said that to me. I need a voice coach. LOL!
Thank you SO much for these videos!!! you have been my absolute best resource...I ruptured mine on 1/30/10, had sugery on 2/06/10 and am now in the 'Moon boot"...I bartend for a living....i wanted to ask your opinion...do you think i'll be able to get back behind the bar by first or second week of April?? (9-10 weeks post-op)...i am planning on rehabing the absolute best i can
I will be having surgery in 2 weeks. About how long did it take you get back moving around? I own a small business and I dont need to be completely out for 2 months. During the first 2-3 weeks were you at least able to hop around on crutches?
Hello, Nice to meet you. I would say getting around within 2-3 weeks of surgery would be VERY ambitious and VERY risky and I only say that since my surgeon was very adamant about me being as immobile as possible for the 4-5weeks I was in a cast. I realize every surgeon may have a different protocol, but taking into account your overall health + blood flow issues and healing, you may want to ensure you get the surgeon's opinion prior to attempting crutches so soon.
