  • its not rare now

  • for a sped up concert song on 1990 Phill sounds epic and it's him for people who doubt it despite the fact it's high-pitched and sped up Phill is awesome on this

  • his voice was completely different! Amazing singing :)

  • @bnobra Phils CFH voice didnt change. This video just has the audio higher-pitched. But yes, the singing is still awesome reguardless.

  • This is Phil ??? Really ?? His vocals sounds like Green Day shit.OOHHHH WAIT!! You picked the live version from the 20th anniversary version and made and editing, changing the tune of the music. And said that is a *rare* version when actually is an EDITATED VERSION of a knowed live version.

    Resuming : FAIL.

  • @MagnumBullets47 actually, this was posted long before the 20th anniversary disc came out so you my friend, are the fail.

  • @maziku Not actually, what i was trying to say is that this song version is editated,as long as you cant prove the opposite of my thoughts, i´m still right (at least in my conception). : )

  • @MagnumBullets47 if by edited you mean it's sped up, then ok. it does sound sped up and thats probably due to it coming from a cassette tape.

  • @maziku I notice that the pitch of the music was editated. The voice of Phil sounds very very strange and the band had never played songs in high tune cause impairs performance of Phil´s voice. Also, the song sounds like was speeded up,especially in the solo. : )

  • If you have any software that can adjust the output of the sound, take it down by 2 keys and you have cemetery gates as it was originally recorded... oh yea and it is Phil.

  • This is sped up for sure!!!! I can tell you this for certain because I saw them live several times before and after CFH and never once did they sound like this. If you really want to hear for yourself take a song from power metal before phil started putting that growl in his voice and speed it up you will identify very quickly that this is still him just sped up a touch, not to mention you can hear it easily in vinnies drumming. FOREVER PANTERA!!!!!

  • phil sounds like a pussy Fag

  • Sounds sped up to me, could explain the higher pitched voice and (i think) different tuning if the song

  • my bad showdown was the name of the album. idk who was singing then

  • on july 21 1990 pantera did a show with a band called showown im guessing that dime rex and vinni were playing but someone else was singing for phil

  • also where is this guys accent? Phil has a Texas accent this guy don't. Any one that believes this is pantera is a retard and don't know there music at all....... fact

  • @dalton8886 dude i know for a fact this is pantera... and phil does NOT have a texas accent he has a NOLA accent ! and yes again thats pantera srry man your just wrong and i had to clear that up ! its clearly DIME on guitar and its clearly phil not terry glaze...

  • Check out my video response...

  • @baciSR check this vid and listen to the voice this vid is same year in Canada Pantera- LIVE-Cemetery gates, 11-18-1990-Toronto Canada(RARE < ..............this is the real pantera

  • super cool, men!. from argentina i say, super version!!

  • example 2:Pantera LIVE version:The Sleep 1989 Dallas TX

  • @dalton8886 Holy shit dude just shut up. You can tell by the screeches that this is Phil. This was the best he's ever sang.

  • @SuperEBPlayer you god dam right i can tell the voice patterns Ive been listening to pantera for some time because of phils voice and yes he can hit the highs but this video is not him sorry bout your luck or unless you can find a video of this song some where THIS IS NOT PHIL ANSELMO.learn your shit and dont do it rudely shit stick

  • @dalton8886 look here this is a 88 song much deeper as well Pantera - We'll Meet Again Live in Dallas , Texas 1988 listen to both songs and you tell me

  • @dalton8886 Download this song and slow it down a little bit, than tell me its not Phil.

  • @baciSR and it don't matter how you slow it down you cant Polish a turd this is not Phil Anselmo. i sound more like phil than this guy dont know who it is but it is not phil

  • @dalton8886 I have posted a video response, please check it out.... THX

  • @baciSR its terry glades

  • @shithead067 Check out my response and reconsider..... Btw: Could not be Terry, because Phil Anselmo is the writer of this song, you can find it in booklet, pantera official, wikipedia....etc

  • @baciSR oh shit, phil joined in 1987. god i feel stupid

  • also phils voice has never been this weak phil is much deeper even form 88 some one was high when they posted this as phil

  • also phils voice has never been this weak phil is much deeper even form 88

  • Pantera LIVE version:Cemetery Gates 1990 "Foundations Forum"

this is Phil listen close big difference

  • this is not phil

  • oh my God,did Phil said at the end "COME ON DIMEBAG,SHRED IT UP" ??

  • his voice is so amazing in this

  • Really, I guess something happened with Phil back in late 80's. His voice really changed. I don't mean his later drug addiction — he just really began to sing very different. Though I like both of his voices, but this one's just great!

  • @thepestun Phil's voice underwent a radical transformation during that year, if u notice on the recorded demos of CFH , if u compare his voice there with his voice on the full length CFH release, there is a difference and if u compare to Power Metal there's an even bigger difference also and that was only 2 years prior , during the tour for CFH his voice's tone got worse and he cudnt hit any high notes anymore also , so ya ther was a big change, probably from all the booze and drugs, I dno

  • Best live vocals Phil ever did, fuckin brutal.

  • I think this may be the only live version I have been able to find that actually has Phil doing the High Pitched Screams at the end. Most of the others are just one vicious long scream.

  • i can't belive that's phil on vocals...kkkkk the tone it's too diferent! kkkk

  • Terry glaze singing Cemetery Gates ?

    ROFLMAO !!!!

Phil joined the band in 87 ! FFS !

For those stupid ignorants who dislike the glam period, 11 songs from CFH were written in 89 ! (Primal Concrete Sledge was written when they were recording the album ).

Go read some stuff about Pantera instead of saying sh*t !

  • Comment removed

  • is this phil on vocals? i think it's terry glace, no?

  • @Raphaelfl14 its phil .. terry glaze was fired years before this

  • Dear god! Something like this won't happen anymore! Nowadays we have this fucking bastard bands that don't produce good songs. Pantera rules!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for my fucking bad english.

  • Not Only Do I Love PanterA's Music, its the feelin I get from em, remembrance of My Childhood in the 90's, Their Music always takes me back to The South and My Home in The 90's Man. Its hard to explain really in words, but its awesome man, Thats why PanterA always has a Place in My Heart man, I'll NEVER get tired of The Greatness of PANTERA, When I'm Happy, Sad Or Mad, PanterA's always there for me, R.I.P. DIME! PANTERA RULES!

  • i fucking love phil screaming 'gates' in the end

  • teenager voice!!

  • This is the best live version of Cemetery Gates ever. Phil Anselmo has never, ever been this good. His voice is just so clean. It might be even better than the album version in my opinion. Amazing. Pantera was, and still is the seed that every metal band from Lamb of God to Mastodon grew out of.

  • a melhor cemetary cantada por esse bosta!!! lixão... sem o Dimebag ele seria e é um cantorzinho underground e nao será mais que isso!!!

  • best version ive heard. phil's voice was amazing.

if you google "pantera 1990" a pic of the flyer from this show comes up but i cant link it for some stupid reason

  • What key is this song in? It's deff not Bm

  • @theichorvile E to G to Dm (with open e), C, G???

  • @theichorvile F# on the soft part but on heavy part its A

  • thanks for the upload.

  • best live version of cemetery gates !

  • What a trip. It sounds like his testicles hadn't decended yet or he was sucking on helium.

  • even though this is raised into a new key, its beyond amazing.

  • Classic Metal

  • this is fuckin' amazing! thanks for sharing it ;-)

  • good god Phil's voice is high

  • best version I've ever heard

  • if you really know pantera and are a true fan you would know that this is really phil without a doubt.

  • it pisses me off how the quality is messed up...this is the only time ive heard Phil nail the 3 high notes at the end live...he really sings the shit outta this song

  • Comment removed

  • Wow he sounded liek a little boy ahah awesome shit tho

  • *sigh* It's been accidentally raised by a semitone somehow. Reduce it down by exactly one semitone and it makes perfect sense. Phil in his prime no doubt.

  • F**** is this really P.H. Anselmo ?

  • @LISZTA it is its just the audio is over compressed or something

  • this doesn't sound like phil got to be speed up WHAT THE HELL MAN lo

  • finally got the whole album :)

  • seriously what's up with the speed up....

  • @wnzgoe179 It was before they recorded the song. It's bound to be different.

  • OHHHH DUDE! I've listened to this a shitload of times & it is fucking sick every time! I have a question man, where was this recorded & are there any more recording from the same show. If you have more recordings from the same show dude, you show totally post them up & tell me about it. Phil seems to be in his prime at this time. I love it dude. The unity with Phil and the ex-glam Pantera has just begun here. You can almost feel how deep & true the energy in the band is at the time. Thanks man!

  • @GotsuMonster

Try finding 'The Showdown' bootleg of Pantera, just like this! Personally, when going for live bootlegs, I go before FBD era for the early stuff :).

  • he wasnt this high pitched, this has to be sped a little, but jsut a little he was very high pitched back then but not this high

  • sorry. 3rd of july...

  • LLama231. bootleg PRE cowboys july 21st 1990. did you not know cfh was released 7/3/90. whatever you use it will be one of 2. 7th march or 7th july. pre cfh no, bootleg from random gig, yes.

  • Definitely sped up what the crap!

  • Yaaa???I dnt know about this dudes cuz listen to power metal and on there it still sounds like phil ya knw this just doesnt sound right I'd say

  • is this piched? he sounds bloody young.

  • if you dont know that this was what phils voice sounded like prior to blowing it out and smoking all that heroin then you dont know pantera at all

  • listen to power metal(the album)...and you can tell that it is phil's voice....

  • phil blew his voice 3 times......herion tends to do that to the voice box

  • u cant remove the chipmunk effect,can u ?

  • no doubt in my mind its phil.u listen to the part where he says"this is cemetary gates"...hearing him say gates n that way has convinced me its 100 percent phil

  • I think the pitch was raised because everything is tuned way higher than it normally is. Plus listen to phils voice

  • its not tuned higher, for some reason the recording is being played faster that what it was recorded at so it does the chipmunk effect and makes everthing sound higher.

  • Dime é do CARALHO!!!

De longe um dos caras que mais me espelho!

  • I fucking love the opening guitar and bass lick.

  • wow

  • no i dont think thing that this is sped up, i think since phil's voice was still higher pitched at the time, they tuned it closer to E or right on it, cause right after recording CFH did they tuned just slightly above E flat.

  • Lmao he was 22 his voice was finished maturing this is deffinantly sped up, Go listen to his voice on the CFH demo that was around the same time asthis performance, plus you don't go from Tenor to Baritone in a year when you're 22 years old. A good performance non the less.

  • pantera gone forever R.I.P. 1981.-2003.

    never forgotten darrell abott 1966.-2004.

    Amazing...

  • @SilverOgre Their cover was ok, but Dave Mustaine just fucking killed the solo......

  • I agree with you, good cover but Petrucci should have played the solo. I love Megadeth, especially Rust In Peace but Mustaine has butchered the solo.

    Sometimes, objectivity is important.

  • @SilverOgre

even legends fuck up , right? xD

  • What do you mean phil doesnt sing the last part ( gates )? Im pretty sure he sings all the vocals on cemetery gates

  • Nah, that's Phil on the studio version and here. Glaze left a few years prior.

  • Listen to the demo of this song phil nails everything. the vocals that phil started doing on Cowboys From Hell were very harsh and demand a lot from the vocal chords There for making it hard to hit clean notes in his upper register from the hoarseness cause by all the screamy thrashy kinda vocals. Try and do a set of mostly harsh vocals than try and sing clean it's hard to do. Phil sung the highs deffinantly can he now? Idk His voice deepened over the years he was a higher baritone now hes low

  • dude the pitch is waayyy too high i was like who the fuck his this

  • solo is flawless :0

  • WHATEVER

  • This is the best live version of cemetery gates i've ever heard.

  • The pitch aint right .. no wonder it sounds different.

  • Right on man, nobody can fuckin hear that but you and I? wow. The pitch has been shifted up a half step. Listen to the demo version. I prefer versions that haven't been fucked with.

  • i wish he wouldve kept doing the high notes...i wonder if he can do a high note period

  • all the smoke, toke, and booze has taken its toll on his voice but he can. I saw him in down couple months back, he is probably one of the best vocalist in metal. Such a range. I doubt he could match the pitch with the harmonics anymore but he could still do some Judas Priest lol

  • IMO this is much better than all the post 92 live versions

  • It's not 1990 it's 1989. I have the CD.

  • not so sure, i think this is the "Glamtera" bootleg, date should be right man...

  • This is either Joe's Garage or Dallas City Limits. It was aired on ZROC.

  • wow this is before CFH so good

  • I think someone raised the pitch of the video, there's no way pantera was tuned up this high.

even said that, phil sounds great here!

  • yeah something aint right with the pitch...another way you can tell is by the speed...its a little faster...almost as if the recorder was running out of battery power...either way the band sound great...Phil rules with the high notes!

  • i cant belive!!! thats is amazing!!

  • this is phil.and this is best version of the song ive ever heard. This beer is for you Pantera!

  • theres no doubt this is Phil Anselmo on vox.

  • Is this really Pantera, souds way too different... Especially Phil's voice, but not only the sound but also the way he sings...

  • best live ever...

  • That's why like many bands with an "ex-super-singer", they had to tune down their songs, and lost many energy in their show ...

  • Phil's voice changed as Hetfield's one did, and Pantera was a "Party band" backstage ... they all were hard smokers/drinkers as we all know. There was no way Phil could preserve his voice unfortunetly, because of their way of life and the "strengh" of his lyrics

  • For those who still doubt this is Phil singing, this is definitely him. It's sad he lost this pure voice, but we've got to remember that many lyrics had to be "shouted", and the same thing happened to James Hetfield ... the difference between Ride the Lightning and And Justice for All is incredible.

  • very good comment... I love Hetfield, but his live vocals now have nowhere near the power they did in the 80's and early 90's.

  • It is. The old recording got messed up a bit, and thus making the whole thing play at a higher pitch. It is Phil, allright.

Notice the guitar/bass is tuned higher than usual as well.

  • BUT, maybe they are tuned higher because of phils awesome voice with that sick falsetto? could also be ;)

  • no..

  • Is This Phil Anselmo???

    Awesome Great voice

  • phil sounds so young here

    practically a teenager

  • someone knows to slow down the song ?

    way to much editing

  • LOOOL ... there's no way slowing down this best ever live version !

That's how we loved them ... speed and passion !!!

  • Haha phil sounds like mike patton xD

  • i love the sound of the bass in this version!

  • This is simply AMAZING!

Phil sounded so powerful back then!!!

  • The intro is simply amazing!

  • this is pantera you dumb fucks that phil and dime you must not know them very well . His voice is a little highter and clearer because he's younger but that PanterA lisen to dime no one can play like that .i just want to end with PanterA fuckin rules but no one will even remember their name after my band get famous hahaha jk

  • actually, this is an old tape. over time it's been ruined so it's running like a fifth faster than normal. enough to only notice a higher voice, if you slow this down a tad in speed not temp, the voice will deepen to normal. this voice is un-naturally high, if you look up 'pantera 1989 live' you can tell, he had a normal voice back then too. his CFH era voice is his pre-CFH era voice

But yes, this is in fact Pantera

    CFH for life, motherfuckers

  • do you know any progam to slow down songs??

if you do tell me pls

  • the reason why it sounds higher pitched is because the audio is sped up a little, but that is pantera

  • you're a fucking idiot. this is pantera man.

  • awesome

  • holy fuck this is god damn gold. so fast, so tight, phil sounds fucking awesome!!

  • fuck....

    i have no words...

    this is amazing!!!

specially the voice...phil is god, dimebag is god, rex is god and vinnie is god

    R.I.P dimebag

  • Phil sound so young here. His voice is so damn beautiful it almost makes me cry when I see how much the heroin fucked it up. To know I'll never here him perform like this again, and to know ill never here dimbag play again hurts me.

  • damn this is great but the editing sucks

anybody knows which prog i can use to change it back to normal ?

  • It's as if Phil hit puberty like 3 times or something...lol.

I'm glad theres actually a live version of this song with his falsetto.

  • Phil brought cemetery gates to the band! If you don t trust this is Phil do this. Download the song, slow it a little bit down and than change a pitch one tone lower. That is how Phils voice changed...

  • Oops! Power Metal was the first album with Phil. Wow his voice changed...

  • lol i fucked up i was only looking at your first comment.

  • Looks like we both jumped the gun on that one. LOL

  • bullshit ive listened to terry glaze in his early years with pantera, dosent sound nothing like phil here! one of the reasons phil became the singer was because he was better phil was an amazing vocalist when he was young.
