  • Man! Charlie Sheen on the drums!!, once seriously, great band, great tune.

  • I'm always in love...with this song <3

  • The drummer looks like Charle Sheen - this song wins

  • my name is wilco -.-

  • I want to be Jeff's mic :)

  • just noticed in the beginning jeff picks up a different guitar then he is actually playing in the vid. not that it matters, but i should like get a free trip and tix to see them in BC as a prize...ha

  • Its OWEN WILSON on the bass singing " smoke pot, smoke pot, smoke pot, smoke pot, smoke pot, smoke pot" !!

  • This is so perfect.

  • Is it just me or does the drummer look like Charlie Sheen?

  • @kangaroovision it jim carey. however that is sheen's hair.

  • My most favorite Wilco song ever.

  • @Wilco362 It's my all-time fave too!

  • This is from the sadly underrated Summerteeth album, and I think it's their best album of all,

  • I wish the lyrics were posted, I can't quite make out a lot of the words

  • I LOVE Nels Cline and his contribution to the band...but as amazing as they are currently, Wilco never rocked the way they did with this lineup. R.I.P. Jay Bennett.

  • SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT SMOKE POT

  • @AHarmlessBlackMan, dude, I am not quite clear, is there a message you are trying to send?

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 I think he's referring to the backing vocals that start around 1:20.

  • @vealcutlet, thakns for the clarification, dude!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @AHarmlessBlackMan okay, if I must

  • Such an eargasm :D

  • Great song...10:15

  • I LOVE WILCO!!!!!! BEST BAND ♥

  • this riff is more like femme fatale by the velvet underground sped up

  • Loved Summerteeth. RIP Jay Bennett.

  • I miss the Jay Bennett aspect of Wilco. I know.

  • ken coomer is really charlie sheen :D and the rhcp guy is will ferrel

  • @kramerspadowskiki

ken coomer? really? you're a damn idiot. thats glen kotche.

  • @wjww1166 come on man no need for name calling but in the studio version its ken coomer i have the album :D

  • The riff reminds me of the Velvet Underground 'Waiting for My Man.' Anyone?

  • @rediryou

    most definatly

  • seven people missed the like button

  • smoke pot.

  • I love the Love Vigilantes reference at the end of this tune.

  • The smoke pot thing that some are mentioning,if that's what it is then it's probably beatles inspired as many hear 'smoke pot smoke pot everybody smoke pot' in the fade out to 'i am the walrus'

  • Right after Jesus Etc., this is my favorite Wilco song.

  • I'M ALWAYS IN LOVE ='(

You Know I WoN't Forget, .. Why, I wonder, is my heart full of holes

And the feeling goes but my hair keeps growing,

  • I like this and I'm an old guy

  • if you don't like this, no if you don't love this, fuck you.

  • @CHRONBOMBSINURBUTT69 no dude charlie sheen looks like the drummer

  • I heard this song earlier today on XM and can't get it out of my head. What a brilliant, kick ass song by these guys, I love it!

  • Sky Blue Sky is a great mix of old and new. Shake it off is so original. Sky Blue Sky is necessary to listen to. Its awesome.

  • hey seven people have a mental disorder, this video can double as a diagnostic tool!

  • 0:39 Charlie Sheen

  • hahahaha "smoke pot, smoke pot, smoke pot" I never realized that

  • I have many Wilco albums. I do not like to steal others thoughts or opinions but i cannot help but agree with one comment I read. Wilco was best with Jay Bennett in the band. I do not own the newest Wilco album, but Summerteeth, YHF, and Being there are all much better than the most recent music.

  • @jifigz Better than Sky Blue Sky? Wilco (The Album) was a hell of a disappointment, but how can you not be blown away by Sky Blue Sky? It's the perfect culmination of all their previous efforts wrapped up into one mindblowing escapade of soundscapes that I've never heard anywhere else.

Bennett served his purpose, but you could see in the IATTBYH documentary that he was starting to hold them back. The YHF demos were good, but the album with O'Rourke/Kotche's input was absolutely stellar.

  • @bradleysparker You sir a very correct. Sky Blue Sky is an amzingly fantastic album. Side with the Seeds is totally a badass song and Nels' prescence is clearly noticeable there. AWESOME! I do think the entire album is a great listen. And I agree, Wilco (the album) was disappointing, but its growing on me. I still hail summerteeth as my favorite though, but, hell, who gives a shit. WILCO IS A GREAT BAND and we are blessed they havent been static and always evolving.

  • @ryantp no no no after pinkerton their second and best album it all went downhill

  • one of the best tunes from the best American band still working. No shit.

  • Listened to this song about a million times and can't believe I just now caught the "smoke pot, smoke pot" backing vocal.

  • @4256gilgamesh Lol...I don't think they're saying that.

  • @4256gilgamesh Lol. I just caught that, too. It made me laugh and almost drop my piece.

  • @ryantp You forgot Pinkerton. Even more amazing than blue.

  • It was weird to see Weezer mentioned on the comments cause they're my favorite band tied with Wilco.

  • Yes, i know i should move on, but you know what? whenever i hear Wilco, or watch videos like this, it makes me feel sad wondering what Uncle Tupelo would have done if they had stayed together. Damn shame....

  • I was mired in a deep thought about YHF, and I just thought screw it, I wanna hear some Summerteeth.

  • It nearly breaks my heart to see Jay Bennett in this video! R.I.P. Jay Bennett!

  • Today, a year ago, Jay Bennett died. It was very sad. It still is sad, he was a great person and a great musician. WE MISS YOU JAY :(

  • This was right after "the end of the days of two guitars".

  • smoke pot smoke pot! yay for underlying messages :)

  • I know how fantastic YHT was, but God help me, I'm a Summerteeth man. An absolutely perfect record!

  • Where are they performing here?

  • @worrywart425 I think it was their loft/makeshift recording studio, where Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was created. This clip is taken from the documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart.

  • great band.

  • Yeah - whatever dumbass.

  • HAs anyone seen Keshia Solberg of MPLS, ?, Tell her Jacob of Oak Park IllI is looking for her...I'm always in love with her

  • That's an idiotic comment, wouldn't you say?

  • you don't believe in romance, do ya

  • I never realized shia labeouf was their lead singer

  • Hahahahaha!

  • i know... =/ and now i'm mad at you for pointing that out. Q_Q cos... i see s.l. singing all of the wilco songs.. not jeff tweedy. =[

  • XDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!! fuck you!! XD

  • @candymiser whatever man in this vid he totally looks like him

  • I never realized Charlie Sheen was their drummer.

  • LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • @rizzlefizzle604 idiot.... haha they do share similarities though

  • @rizzlefizzle604 Lol that does not look like charlie sheen.

  • @rizzlefizzle604 nice comment, how do you feel about that?

  • HAHAHAAA

  • @rizzlefizzle604 yeah he covered for him while yer man was in Navy Seals.

  • @rizzlefizzle604 Glenn is THE best drummer out now, take a look at where and who he studied with. Then listen to him and see him live, you're wise crack can be stuck up your ass.

  • @rizzlefizzle604 more like Tobey McGuire

  • @rizzlefizzle604 that dude gets around.

  • @rizzlefizzle604 hahaha, same here

  • @rizzlefizzle604

Charlie Sheen, come on, Glenn is such a cool guy, give him some respect, he's a legit artist.

  • @rizzlefizzle604 Glenn has more talent in his right arm than the entire Sheen family, including Emilio....

  • RIP Jay Bennett. Saw them first right after Summerteeth came out...and Jay Bennett's guitar riffs stole the show. I honestly watched him play most of the show. He was so incredibly talented. Although they always come out with unbelievable material, I haven't liked any of their subsequent albums as much as I did Summerteeth.

  • Rivers Cuomo would be the first to admit that his band does not even touch WILCO!!!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 nothing wilco have ever recorded or will ever record is gonna touch the blue album and pinkerton!

  • @busenlilly1, interesting comment, my friend. Diversity breeds excellence, no? I embrace a variety of musical opinions. After all, art is in the eye of the beholder, no?

  • @busenlilly1, wow, I am still trying to stand upright after that ridiculous line of crap!

Weezer as a band is an inside joke, please.

Ask Rivers Cuomo, the dude from Harvard.

Jeff Tweedy and Jay Bennett write circles around that pseudo-intellect Cuomo clown.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @busenlilly1 you are NUTS YHF is a fuking MASTERPIECE !!!

  • @frankc32 he's a humble man

  • @BorisGaquere, his on is a blogging/drumming freak!

    It is CRAZY!!!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 "his son", sorry....

  • @frankc32 He goes to my school. Same History class. Nice guy.

  • @frankc32 I like you, thanks for Cheering everyone and then Reminding us what your name is. Not sarcasm either. I feel like your a drunk guy at a party that toasts to everything and your like "TO FRANK"...and I dig that. RESPECT

  • @MrDogDangerous, thanks dude.

I am a drunk, also a big-time Wilco fan. But I would NEVER toast myself!

I do not pull punches with all the idiots on this site; I call 'em like I see 'em, let the chips fall where they may.

I let the busy-body losers do the evaluating/moralizing.

I am who I am, proud of it, and I make no fucking apologies to any anonymous punks on YouTube.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • @frankc32 not even close

  • this song reminds me of Weezer, even though Wilco is way better than them.

  • this one always reminded me of Guided By Voices

  • gbv and wilco are my two favorite bands ever!

  • love this song and this album. wilco are fabulous

  • did they get a diff vocalist somewhere along. dont really know much about them. sound diff in heavy metal drummer unless theres 2 wilcos??????

  • No. Jeff and John (vocals and main backing vocal) have been there right from the begining. The rest of the band has changed considerably though!!!

  • Comment removed

  • nope...tweedy and the bassist, john stirratt have been the only two constants in Wilco since the beginning.

  • what? you need to expand your horizons dude...there is one wilco, this is it...tweedy since the start.

  • ok heres the deal, jeff tweedy (vocals) has been there since day 1 of wilco. When they recorded heavy metal drummer they had acquired a new drummer glenn kotche, your right they do sound very different. During this time Jeff wanted to get a real sound for wilco,so he asked Jim O'rourke to mix some of the wilco tracks, this resulted in s different sound for wilco. thats the basic story. but i hope i helped you at least a little bit.

  • Does anybody have an mp3 of this version? I think it's a lot better than the studio one.

  • Google it a click on the "videos" icon. Its like the fourth one down.

  • One of my favourite Wilco songs - the album version is slightly different but just as good. I love it on the DVD commentary when they are making fun of Jeff's "mental hospital" outfit in this clip! And Glenn's "enthusiastic" facial expressions LOL I hope Jay is resting in peace; he left a wonderful legacy :)

  • That synth line can't be touched.

A great song off of a gem of an album.

  • this is my favorite wilco line up. jay was very much underrated. the songs just don't have the same power and weight to them anymore.

  • you guys, glenn is WAY better that anybody!

  • Rest in peace, Jay.

  • I'm not talking about the song, the song is probably my favorite song ever, I'm just talking about the drums

  • I really can't get into Glenn at all especially when they do old songs like this, I much prefer Ken

  • Whoa! Glenn KILLS it on this song. Ken's a good drummer, but come now!

  • not really pretty basic straight stuff here

  • pos my fave song ever tho I prefer the studio version

  • Jeeze...Glenn looks like a little boy. Soo young!

  • My theme tune....love love love this band xxx

  • Comment removed

  • Well then!...

  • nels is the fucking man you idiots!

  • One of the organ players looks like the guitarist and vocalist for The Jayhawks

  • I bet Gary Louris would be complimented by that. I think his guitar playing is more tasteful than Jay's (no disrespect to Jay, of course), but Jay could play anything.

  • Beautiful

  • This is the best content on youtube.

  • RIP Jay Bennett

  • Happy Trails Jay...

  • Are you retarded?

  • Dude, it's all fine and good to not like Nels Cline's playing, but your comment is a little over-the-top. Jay was every bit the "Santana" that Nels is. If you don't like Nels' style, that's one thing. But don't attack the man. He's a great guitarist and a very gracious guy.

  • Nels is a brilliant guitarist but sometimes I think they have trouble making room for his parts. How do you tell a guitar virtuoso not to play all the time? But compare him to Glenn who is equally brilliant at the drums but never, ever puts his chops in the way of the music.

  • Nels was no where near this band when this film was made, and even further away when this song was recorded for summerteeth. What are you talking about???

  • I was talking about other comments about the pros and cons behind Nels. I know he isn't in this video or on Summerteeth and thats my point - I can't envision Nels adding anything to "I'm Always In Love"

  • Honestly I like this more than the album version lot more emotion and soul but then again thats the thing about Wilco their one of the few bands that's better live than in the studio

  • i fully disagree. the album version is nothing short of pure pop magic.

  • THIS ROCKS!!!

  • If your judging by this clip only that sucks for you. Wilco puts on an excellent live show.

  • wilco is heavily guarded by their adoring fans, much like Guided By Voices.

    The are fierce, discriminating, muther-f****'ers

  • underrated or not, I believe that Wilco's ouvure that should not be overlooked by anyone interested in hearing one of contemporary rock n roll's (yes rock n roll)most creative and intelligent band out there...i love these guys!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • MOST UNDERATED BAND IF ALL TIME! Which creates the biggest shame in music of ALL TIME.

  • Underrated? Huh? Wilco's been the darling of music critics for over a decade now. They're hardly underrated or in any sense of the world unsung. They're a good band, but some of this idolatry is over the top.

  • Yeah they're not underrated, they're just a bit of a cult band - which I think's great and not a shame at all.

  • For me, Wilco can be incredible.

Can be, because some of their songs

    are brilliance, while others...

    I don't think I'd give a second listen to.

You can't deny that they've got talent though :)

  • true that

  • :) Thanks for posting this

  • God I love Wilco!!!! This song rocks my world.

  • Watch the entire documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart! It's the best documentary ever!! That's what this clip comes from...

P.S. I didn't know what the background chant was until this movie... "Smoke pot, smoke pot, smoke pot, smoke pot!"

  • Agreed. The documentary is absolutely incredible. I don't think a more interesting time for the band could have been shown.

  • déjà-vu... excellent...

  • I'm completely speechless. This band is amazing.

  • How do I give this ten stars?

  • think how amazing the beatles would be if they were formed more recently

  • Look, what you're doing,

    I'm feeling blue and lonely,

Would it be too much to ask of you,

    What you're doing to me?

  • I wish I could play the drums as well as Glenn. :(
