@dstroost Zeppelin was without fail the best live band,They ALL were the best at their given instrument plus they could play the same songs every nite and never play it the same way twice, they had improv skills that would make ANY jazz player want to go and woodshed. I have bootlegs from 75 and they sound so tight they it could've passed for a studio recording,Live is Zeps biggest claim to fame they gave their fans a show they would never forget, and usually without having a opening band.
@EPIGIBSONPHONE The Beatles most influential most definitely but greatest is a toss up b/t Led Zeppelin and The Beatles and it's really a matter of opinion. Led Zeppelin are the greatest live act in music by transcending their already amazing studio records into a completely different song. They were so good at improv on the spot in their live sessions, it seems otherworldly. The Beatles are incomparable in almost every aspect they're usually by default voted the greatest.
@streetparade i love zep. but im one of ''those'' kind of Beatles fans were they aren't music.they are life. i seriously know everything about the beatles.they are so interesting. so when someone is like''BEATLES CAN BOW DOWN TO THE MIGHTY LED ZEPPELIN'' it really irritates me. but i wouldn't mind if they said'' they are ONE of the greatest bands ever'' than i wouldn't mind....i simply just came here to listen to the vid

Cont. The Beatles were pretty much undefeated in every aspect except live. Now I'm going to have to be honest with you here. stage stares and light glares try to throw you off in your psyche,,, but the worst is your own echo being tripped over by the bass and guitar player..Led Zeppelin music was more complex as a whole then people can even phathom...Who knows though??
@whereamigoingnow Zeppelin got a bad rap as a live band ? @Cincinnatus1869 one of the best short and sweet observations I've read in a while about Zeppelin...On vinyl and live, greatness in both forums...Improvisation is everything when it comes to playing live...otherwise you might as well be in your basement with strobe lights and record / cd playing !!

@FloydyTube Spoken like a true addict. What an idiot thing to say. Yeah, he was SOOOOO fit that he died at a very early age because of drugs and alcohol.
@drumgpearl What has being fit (or not) got to do with inhaling his own vomit causing asphyxiation? Is your drumming that much better? Your ability to understand English certainly isn't.
@FloydyTube Thank you, Doctor Tube. I'm guessing that you arrived at your conclusion after two minutes and 28 seconds of extensive research on the effects of drugs and alcohol on fitness and stamina. Well done, idiot!
@ledzeppelin4304 With all the respect, but as far as I love LedZep too, you gotta respect The Beatles. Like it or not, they revolutionated Rock almost in every aspect, from songwriting, harmony, sound experimentation and song structure. Their creativity had no precedent those days and they influenced all british rock bands who followed, including: Led Zeppelin. Still: it´s obvious that LZ were more virtuosos, epic and shocking on scene.
@carmaj156 first of all LED ZEPPELIN were never inspire by the beatles. zeppelin said it themselves. second of all yeah sure the beatles were great but they were only great bacuse they sing catchy songs. @carmaj156 Yes, the Beatles do have a "stairway" song. It's called "A Day in the Life", one of the most groundbreaking and influential songs ever written. Listen to it someday and open your mind. Both great bands, but quite different.

To me, this is nothing from the other Kashmir from the other performance at Knebworth. And at the end, John Bonham is even more unreal than this! You think he's gonna knock holes in his drums from hitting the fuckers so hard.
Excellent syncronization and choice .Another version of Kashmir worthy of notice for Bonzo's immense powers would be San Diego June 19th 1977.His fills were quite unusual at that particular gig. Thanks
Whoa, whoa whoa whoa whhhhhooooaa!! Hold the hell up! Who in the hell thinks alter bridge has anything on Led Zeppelin!? His voice is decent, but is NOT Led Zeppelin material. He sounds like he got hit in the throat with a two by four and then sucked a tiny bit of helium. Nowhere near Zeppelins power. A frontman for Jimmy Page and crew HAS to have that raw edge to them. Not clean cut and pretty. They knew that and that is why Miles will never be selected. Or Steven Tyler
@JustinPierce1226 they actually asked myles kennedy to play with them, but he turned it down because he said he could only disappoint.... the fact that zeppelin asked him proves that you are an idiot
@quats69 Whoa mate hold up. I didn't even right that lol. I let my cousin on to check out my covers and such and he is NOT a huge alter bridge fan. MY POINT OF VIEW: I think he would have done a decent job. But the voice just would not match the motto ya know? :/ Led Zeppelin has always been Plant, Page, Jones, and Bonham. And that is how it should be. But if they chose to tour and play songs from their albums as a group, then okay. Just not as Led Zeppelin. It would feel very very wrong.
Notice if you watch Jimmy's footage, it's been recycled from earier in that performance; also notice that Bonzo's footage didn't do this. Clean, heartfelt passion in each shot no one can even touch today. We've lost a legend, and he'll never be forgotten.
@aerovankahnezeppelin yes very true...but he went out with a KABOOM!!!!....and hey...you ever wonder what makes all that thunder up there in the clouds?....i dont because i know the answer....JOHN HENRY BONHAM!!!!!.
@darknature. I think your right with the sticking. It was a simple fill played fast, but then he reverses it or something. The vid is chopped, but RIGHT after that fill. Man , it may be simple in theory, but to execute it and move it around at that tempo improvise is pretty dam sweet. IMO. Dennis chambers may think otherwise lol
@urajokeMC sounds like hes doin doubles on the snare left hand then 1st cymbal then double snare right hand 2nd cymbal then in reverse everything he did hes showin off
Can anybody please answer this question: What is the machine or tool used to make the drums have that trippy sound effect at around 1:56? Or is it some keyboard synthesizer?
@skaterat121 flanger. it's a studio technique where you offset the mics just so to create a weird phasing...there are guitar pedals that have the effect...
@countvonjustin not with mics. thats different. this is mimicing tape flange where two identical sources are played together and one is slightly sped up and slowed down. Think Axis bold as love..
This is sweet. Thanks, mesc. I was around 11 when I heard Plant's voice bellowing 'Whole Lotta Love' from my big bro's room. Thought it was some heavyset, black chick for sure. Hey, it happens. : 1

Notice if you watch Jimmy's footage, it's been recycled from earier in that performance; also notice that Bonzo's footage didn't do this. Clean, heartfelt passion in each shot no one can even touch today. We've lost a legend, and he'll never be forgotten.

@kleetus92 ok, maybe at 0:09 ...

Can anybody please answer this question: What is the machine or tool used to make the drums have that trippy sound effect at around 1:56? Or is it some keyboard synthesizer?
skaterat121 1 year ago
@skaterat121 flanger. it's a studio technique where you offset the mics just so to create a weird phasing...there are guitar pedals that have the effect...
countvonjustin 1 year ago
@countvonjustin not with mics. thats different. this is mimicing tape flange where two identical sources are played together and one is slightly sped up and slowed down. Think Axis bold as love..
