why would you ever crop their ears. Its painful and unnecessary. They are so much cuter with floppy ears and long tails. People are fucked. How about I pin your ears to your head and cut off your big toe. !
"Many of you have come to judge us as abusive/cruel dog owners for having the dog docked and cropped" kind of sounds a lot like judging people who circumcise their daughters.
Saartje05 Ive always said:" I would rather laugh with the sinners; than cry with the saints" My reservations already been booked. I'll buy you a warm beer when u get there. Look 4 me and my CnD Dogs
It's bloody stupid letting a pup run up and down the stairs, but hey, what do I know. I only worked with dogs for more then twelve years and own them for more than forty years.
People will say anything is animal abuse..starving your pet is animal abuse, unfit conditions, beating it daily, animals so traumatized they fear any human contact...THAT'S what abuse is..swear C&N is not abuse and whether people like it or not..dogs are PROPERTY that's why we're called OWNERS & it's the OWNER'S CHOICE whether or not they crop &dock. If you want to leave you're dog natural go ahead,BUT if you want to alter your dog, that's cool too!
Anyone notice that Saartje05 has no account anymore? Typical of those trolls that start an account; troll issues at hand; then cancel their accounts when they get opposition to their point of view. Do we really need anymore proof of the "opposition" on this issue. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs and to voice that opinion on a public forum; and all opinions should be respected ' or given some modicum of reflection- Just another example of what most of have always known or thought...
why do so many people care about croping its fucking ears? it doesnt hurt the dog, it just makes it hear a little better and look the way the owner wants it to
i wouldnt crop my dogs ears or dock its tail, but only because i think it makes it look unnatural and ugly, but if its safe then can someone tell me why its so important that she not do it?
it’s not allowed in many european countries for god reasons. And it doesn't seem to matter much if that just not justifiable. The dog doesn't care about cosmetics. And people won't feel less intimidated because the dog has a tail. The tail is an organ for the dog. he uses it to communicate and for his equilibrium. Cutting a dogs tail is like cutting a humans tongue.it is clearly not justifiable and should be outlawed every where
@manlymacaroni nonsense. Dogs with huge floppy ears can hear a lot better than dogs with standing ears. And why would you crop a dog's ears and tail when they're bred with a long tail and floppy ears? Don't breed them like that if you don't want it. Or do you cut your kid's fingers and ears too because you think it's better for them? And cropping ears is extremely painful.
SO WHAT IF IT IS COSMETIC! If done by reputable, licensed veterinarian, it is PERFECTLY safe and non harmful. The tails are done when the puppies are 3 days old usually and it has no affect on them. The ears are done while puppies and they are put under anasthesia (sp?) and they feel nothing. Ya it is cosmetic and its a choice, but it completely harmless just as any other surgery is when done correctly on humans or animals. This is NOT cruelty in any way. Get over yourselves.
@tumblingislife427 It IS cruelty that's why it's forbidden in so many countries. You must be total nuts if you think cutting off a dogs ears and tail isn't cruel.
@ theAnnase yeah bet u didn't know they can get caught on something and torn off since they're so long , u assface bitch , and common u think dogs cant express emotion with their face and need a tail ?? Moron
I must admit docking the tail unless it is necessarily is cruel Dogs use their tails for communicating. They express happiness, aggression, stress and many other emotions with their tail. The tail has its importance of counterbalance. Dogs that run at great speeds often have thin tails that are very long in proportion to the rest of their body, and they use their tails as a counterbalance when making turns. Why on earth would you want to remove such an important part of their body?
@TheAnnase Yet; ALL of our 6 HEALTHY CROPPED and DOCKED Dobermans had NO PROBLEMS expressing any of their emotions with their Docked tail- Would wag to express happiness, and had no problem communicating fear, play or aggression when around other dogs I guarantee you that if you were uninvited and entered our home; you would know exactly what our 94lb male was "communicating" to you. As far as counterbalance issues; Our Dobie runs like the wind and swims like a fish- NO BALANCE issues at all....

There are many videos on here of dobermen protecting babies. I even saw one when the child kept on pulling the doberman's tongue without a reaction in return. Mostly it's how the owner treats the dog to behave that defines it, not plainly because of it's breed.
@pinkismythang1 you have no fucking clue about what you're talking about... if the dog goes agressive is thanks by a silly owner who let the dog be the alfa male of the pack.
get some fucking info before you start saying stupidities.
well I don't agree with docking ears and tails, and wouldn't do it to my dogs, but I understand your reasoning. I'm sure a lot of people think it's cruel I keep my dogs in cages (which are actually big playpens) during the day when I'm at work, but they also eat organic food and have my full and undivided attention when I'm home. What we have done is definitely not animal abuse.
I've had floppy eared dogs before and avoided ear infections with one simple rule - KEEP THE EARS CLEAN. It's not hard, takes just a few minutes a week and you have a happy healthy dog with clean ears. Your own laziness is not an excuse to do this to your animals.
@insanitytheory I always have floppy eared dogs and they never have infections. Matter of keeping them clean. Like you have to check their teeth the rest of the dog now and then.
I have a doberman and she is getting her ears cropped as well. I wouldn't pay attention to any of these comments. Personally I have a doberman with floppy ears who has had an ear infection before, and the misery and pain he went through is a lot worse than the after care post-crop. The dobermans don't even really notice what has even happened. My other two are cropped and both played normally immediately after the crop. People just like to have something they can whine about.
This bitch needs to compare with my parents house, she thinks she is rich, I got kicked out when i was 18 for stealing my dads liquor, my parents greed is bigger than the universe, they live miserably in a 4 million dollar house and are always mad and selfish about something, money does not always make happiness, meanwhile I'm in a shit apartment in downtown cause that's all i can afford.. fuck money, fuck bitches
I don't think your intention is to be abusive but I do think you are being ignorant about the operations you had done to him. They really are unecessary. Also a dog should be adopted as a part of the family not as a weapon. This breed among many others will naturally guard a house and their owner without being trained. Training him as a "guard dog" might lead to results that have him attacking someone and hurting them beyond what you intend.
@steph8973 You really need to educate yourself on the subject; instead of swallowing the standard left-leaning tree-hugger tired response. Parasites - ear mites, Numerous types of bacteria and the yeast, Malassezia pachydermatis, excess moisture and ear anatomy, tail ruptures - Dogs with strong, whip like tails that the Doberman has often suffer from broken or crooked tail. Broken tail is often a self inflicted painful injury. These are NOT: USELESS, AESTHETIC PROCEDURES; we do it FOR them.
@LOKISlog7 Absolute nonsense. That's what breeders tell you but it's total bullshit. In Scandiavia it's forbidden for a long time and dogs are totally healthy there. Where I live it's forbidden for over ten years now and dobermans and other dogs are healthy and I've hardly see any infected ears and never broken tails. What you're saying has nothing to do with ears not being cropped but with not good taking care of your dog.
@Saartje05 So; YOU haven't seen a case; that makes you an expert on the subject??? Typical left wing euro self importance bluster. Have you been privy to every Doberman and Boxer owned in Scandinavia ? Save it; I've owned 6 of the breed. All of them Cropped and Docked to breed standard; not the modern bastardized euro dopey mutt look masquerading as what Herr Doberman had in mind. All were HAPPY, HEALTHY, and needed no psychological therapy to deal with the procedure. Spare us the peta BS
@LOKISlog7 I work at a dog kennel and just last week a hound got his ear torn during rough play that escalated into a fight. I don't want to worry about my future dobe (notoriously rough players at my work) getting it's ear torn and needed multiple stitches like the hound. Plus, dobes have a standard and it shouldn't be disrespected like saartje is. I didn't bash anyone for leaving them natural if they didn't disrespect my choice to have them cropped.
@jpost2129 I agree with your stance 100% I have always been PRO Crop and Dock for Doberman and Boxer breeds. I feel its the healthiest, safest, and most responsible thing that an owner can do for their k9. Given the disease and injury that WILL happen without the procedure; and the risks associated with owning those breeds; I would NEVER own one without the too breed standard Crop and Dock. IMO; it just isn't fair to the animal, and highly irresponsible. Cheers
@LOKISlog7 Ohh look, he's back for more! haha this is getting obnoxious. Just accept that we're going to hell for cropping our dogs ears like every European would say and leave it at that.
@LOKISlog7 Typical right wing nonsense to call it left wing. Have you been privy to every Doberman and Boxer (? boxers NEVER got cropped here btw) in the US? I don't give a shit what 'herr Doberman' had in mind. Times have changed. And you can call it Euro dopey, but 'herr Doberman' WAS European. And I'm not Peta, I don't even like them.
@LOKISlog7 There are so many breeds with a same kind of tail that never got cropped at all. They don't have problems either. It's breeder's talk. Not reality.
People always feel the need to stick their noses into every bodies business.... So what if this is cosmetic? If i were walking with my dog at night time, and I had clearly definable doberman with me. People might just think twice about attacking me. Sorry... I don't get the whole animal abuse thing.... why don't you people who are crying about this, volunteer at your local animal shelter ( like I do) and see first hand, what real animal abuse is.
@riorumjungle I think it's simply unnecessary. I foster strays and I have seen true abuse and NEGLECT. If you want a dogs ears to stick up, instead of slicing up a Dobermans ears, get a German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Chow Chow or another pointed eared guard breed.
@riorumjungle I agree! I volunteer and work at a dog kennel. I have plans to be a cruelty officer. I want a dobe and I'm getting his ears done. I don't like them down. They aren't defineable dobes then. they look more like hounds. I think it looks nice, which is the FIRST thing that attracted me to the breed. then i learned about them, proper after care and a reputable vet doesn't define abuse in my book.
@jpost2129 That's the biggest bullshit I've ever reas. Then take another breed. You don't crop a dog's ears because 'otherwise they look like a hound'. So what! So you're attracked to the breed because their ears are cut? And you want to be a cruelty officer? Shame on you.
@Saartje05 You clearly didn't read that right. I said FIRST thing I was attracted to was it's looks. Then while working at the kennel I work at, I met a lot of them and fell in love with their demeanor and attitude. And you're really gonna compare cropping ears by a reputable vet and an owner with a devoted after care regimen to someone who beats the hell out of a dog or starves it? and don't say "shame on me" for wanting to crop the ears, I'm not gonna burn in hell for it and it's my choice.
@Saartje05 PLUS I've seen multiple cases of dog's ears being torn during rough play and fighting at my job. These injuries require numerous stitches. If ear cropping is done at an appropriate age and the owner cares for the ears properly, then fine.. But with the abuse I've seen, you really have NO place calling ME cruel. there's breeders who don't wanna pay a vet so they do it themselves, call that cruel. But not me or anyone else who gets it done. You don't like ear cropping? Don't do it.
@jpost2129 I've worked at an animal for more than twelve years. Also worked for vets. I've seen abuse and what you're saying about those ears is nonsense. And yes, I do have a place calling you cruel. And breeders who don't want to pay a vet should be arrested. That has nothing to do with normal treatment of a dog.
@Saartje05 Typical European attitude. Of course it's banned in Europe. Everything is. Maybe you're cool with not having a choice of what to do with your dog in your country but I live in America, sir. I'm pro-choice on the abortion matter too, wanna call me the devil?
@jpost2129 Lol. First I´m not a sir and second I´m sure the US has a LOT more idiotic rules than we have in Europe. And you're not allowed to do with your dog what you want either. That's why the US has animal police and laws. Or did you forget about that?
@Saartje05 I'm done hearing your self-righteous bullshit. It doesn't surprise me, but I'm done hearing it. Knock yourself of your european pedestal and quit passing judgement on other people. I never bashed people who leave them down ONCE until you were so disrespectful of my opinion. I respected yours until you proved you weren't anything but a jackass.
it’s not allowed in many european countries for god reasons. And it doesn't seem to matter much if that just not justifiable. The dog doesn't care about cosmetics. And people won't feel less intimidated because the dog has a tail. The tail is an organ for the dog. he uses it to communicate and for his equilibrium. Cutting a dogs tail is like cutting a humans tongue.it is clearly not justifiable and should be outlawed every where
There have been studies that have proven that docking and croping a dog makes it extremely difficult for them to communicate with other dogs. Dogs use their tails and ears as a way to communicate their moods. Without tails, other dogs will never know how to react properly to yours.
"This is no more cruel than having any other elective surgery done by a reputable doctor." your dog can talk AND sign medical documents requesting cosmetic surgery. i think we all owe you an apology, your training works miracles.
im sure dogs miss there balls a hell of alot more then the tips of there ears and there tail..
hippies,,why is it cruel my dog doesnt have a clue hes had his ears done.hes happy.just like i cant remember loosein my foreskin...people just need shit to bitch about i guess..
beautiful dog :) if you chose to get the ears cropped, that was your decision. your dog, your choice. you seem to take really good care of him overall, and that's what matters the most.
@mjfromga89 Just........ Unbelievable. Just.... omg. Neutering prevent illness in old age AND cancer. Docking/clipping ears is illegal in the UK for a reason. Its cosmetic. You dock a tail when they're used for hunting. Clipping ears is just retarded.
@FairlyOddSez Exactly. Declawing cats is the same, done ONLY for the owners benefit at the expense of the pet. I don't know what I'd do if my dogs tail was cut off, It would break my heart not to be able to see that happy wag or hear it thumping against my bedroom wall when I wake up each morning.
My question is if there is a point to cutting the ears...? Or is it just because it looks cool.. If so then thats pretty weak if the dog has to go through any sort of pain just so the owner will think it looks cooler. Might as well start giving it tattoos and piecing its ears.. If it's for a good reason, someone tell me.
@sheadogg12122 it's not done for looks, it is done for function. If you're worried about pain inflicted on the dog, it's much more painful for the dog's ears to be torn up by brush and then have to be removed to avoid infection.
Did you ever notice that dogs whose ears stand up naturally have a lot of hair in front of the ear canal - for protection - against many things including loud sounds. Dogs whose ears do not stand up naturally don't seem to have this protection. And it is ridiculous to say that the dogs feel no pain when part of their tender ears are cut off - how in hell do you know?
I love how she goes on in the description box, pretty much saying that she is rich and spends a lot of money on the dog and so that justifies cropping and docking. It doesn't. If there is no veterinarian recommended reason to do it, it's done only for cosmetic reasons. Okay so he's a guard dog, he needs a dock and crop for that? Nope! It is ridiculous what she tried to do. She had it done because it is breed standard and much like everyone else, she thought it looked cool....
@mjfromga89 actually some vets are ok with docking tails on certain breeds because they have tendency to wag them so hard they hit something and break their tail, they do the same for boxers and rottweilers and other dogs with "hard tails". same with removing a dew claw on small breeds. its not NECESSARY but its sometimes easier than dealing with a broken tail or ingrown claw down the line. the cropping tho i agree is unnecessary and unacceptable since it increases vulnerability to ear infection
@OnlySuzyV Most vets are okay with cropping and docking too because it's breed standard and makes them money. It goes against a dogs natural instinct to wag their tails so hard that they break them against something. It RARELY happens. Her description box is snobby but I was just speaking on how ridiculous it is. I love dogs and she can spend her hard earned money where she wants but it doesn't justify what she did to that dog...
@mjfromga89 i'm not saying they do it on purpose, just saying it happens lol fair enough though, her attitude towards less fortunate people just seemed too condescending for me not to suggest she find a way to help others instead of doing something like this for looks.
@mjfromga89 but i agree, she's kind of bitchy by saying "he lives the spoiled life that others can't fathom". she should step off her high horse and donate the money from the operations to help people who live less quality lives than a dog. i'm sorry, i love dogs, but i wouldn't put the life of a dog before a decent human, she's a snob.
Cropping and docking does less harm to dog than neutering it. So if you're for neutering dogs but against cropping and docking, then well, you're retarded.
But upon reading the description.. gotta say, she sounds like a sociopathic bitch. lololol she's proud of the fact that her dog is living a better life than most people on the planet hahahaha. What a bitch.
@HwarangOfFaith I am not a fan of random neutering and my 14 year old dog is not neutered and I'd never neuter my dog. However, unlike cropping, it saves lives. Irresponsible owners cause many dogs to die by letting their dogs breed. Altering a dog helps more than one health problem also and it also usually causes dogs to be calmer and seem happier. Does cropping do any of this? NO! Your argument is totally off and invalid.
lol are you retarded? There are many cases in which uncropped ears in doberman have resulted in no detection of ear infections until it got fatal. There are also many cases where their tails broke from various reasons. There are just as much theoretical health benefits to cropping and docking as neutering. Also, who is the government telling us what to do with our property? Even if it's for pure cosmetic reasons, so fuckin what? rofl.
@HwarangOfFaith not really. if you suddenly decide your dog looks better without one of it's hind legs, you're not allowed to cut if off, sorry. that would be animal cruelty and it's punishable by law. as should be cropping, that causes lessening of hearing. and infection that advanced is only overlooked if the owner is a moron, and in this case they shouldn't be allowed to own a pet at all.
Lol, i would love to see a reference for your claim that cropping lessens the hearing of a dog LOL. You do know hearing is enabled by the structure inside the ear right? Also, if anything, it enhances the hearing as the flop doesn't cover over the ears and the doberman can angle their ears the way they want to hear better. Your argument fails in many different ways, as cutting off a leg would truly handicap a necessary function of an animal.
@mjfromga89 cropping gives the dog a fiercer look which would make him a better guard dog. cropping ears improves hearing which also makes a better guard dog. cropping the tail prevents them from potentially breaking it (dobermans have a higher chance than most dogs because of their strength). and they look badass... nuff said
@GloopenGooProduction His job is to spot and bark, his ears won't make him a tougher dog. Cropping is not done to improve hearing nor does it's effects really make any sort of difference in the dogs hearing anyway. There are many breeds more powerful than the doberman that does NOT have docking as breed standard. Modern day cropping: Breed standard and to make the dog look cool. Give up on any other arguments. They are invalid....
@GloopenGooProduction That's funny. I refuse to argue with you on this point. This is done. I said cropping is not done to improve a dogs hearing. If you actually think that people crop to improve hearing, then there is no reason for me to say anything else to you. Good day sir.
@beaucerdog By the time police arrive, the thieves are long gone. Dogs make noise BEFORE they get in, not after. Better repellent. If they are large indoor protection dogs, you have to get through him to steal anything. You can shoot him but shooting is loud and leaves behind evidence which is the reason most of these people don't even carry a weapon. Also if you're caught with the weapon, your charges get much more serious. A guard dog swamps a security system by a mile. My opinion.
@mjfromga89 Yes, I guess a large, barking doberman would be an effective 'watchdog'. I'm not sure about foolproof guarding, nowadays, though. I appreciate your politeness in conveying your opinion (rare on the Internet)!
@mjfromga89 I understand the docking as it would mean (since he's a guard dog) if he had to run away nobody could pull his tail but even then it's very far fetched isn't it?
I had a doberman female a few years ago and she was adoreable...
@DannieShaw1990 If your guard dog finds himself having to run away, then he is not a very good guard dog.. now is he? My dog is 14 now and he was a guard dog when I was younger and still is. He has his tail and he'd never run away from his duties and if he did, I don't think a person would be quick enough or even have the desire to grab his tail and bring him back. Both procedures are useless in my opinion...
@DannieShaw1990 You did it only AFTER it began to cause problems. I am not opposed to that but just doing it for no good reason, stupid. I am glad you're not for this unless there is a good MEDICAL reason, especially as a doberman owner as breed standard actually says to dock tails. Shines a light upon the world...
@VendingBrands Give me a break, the guy who this dog was named after did it for cosmetic reasons. The same reasons that she did it. I simply refuted her argument that he needs it for his duties. If protection dogs NEEDED these, then why don't German Shepherds and some other guard breeds get it? Thank you for calling me that name. I don't even know you nor was I speaking to you so that was uncalled for. Have a nice day...
@BloodlossDesign I've had floppy eared dogs all my life, not a single ear infection not a single case of mites. I'm against neutering male dogs for no good reason. My boy will be 15 this year and he's not fixed. It is foolish to compare neutering with cropping anyway. Neutering/spaying can prevent thousands of dogs from being killed in shelters and suffering on the streets. And as I said, just get a shepherd etc for a pricked ear instead of hacking off a dobies ears....
@mjfromga89 I have lost two male dogs with testicular cancer. I also do not breed because unless breeding for the ring it is stupid. Those are both good enough reasons for me. PLENTY of great dogs for adopting. I will continue to fix any male dog I have with me for those reasons.
@shiboof I think that it is okay to do that. I don't agree with breeding period, dogs are not tools, or money making gadgets. At this stage in our time, there is no good reason to breed. I know that mutts or even pure bred dogs from the pound are just as healthy and just as wonderful as pure bred dogs. We fixed both our female cats because they get in distress when in heat and stuff so I'm NOT against fixing. I just don't like neutering male dogs that much...
@mjfromga89 i've had many dogs natural and cropped. i have a dobe with natural tail and ears and if i do not put Vaseline on the tips every day in the winter they dry out and crack when he shakes causing crazy bleeding that takes weeks to stop. humans circumcise their children for the similar reasons. its not a big deal either way. your not a better dog parent because your dog isnt cropped or docked.
@imperialinv The bleeding takes weeks to stop because your dog most likely has a genetic disorder common in poorly bred Dobermans. Had you had them docked, it would have been a truly serious problem. Also it's not natural for dogs ears to become that eroded, something is wrong with your dog. I don't agree with circumcision either. I never said it was a big deal, I was just stating my opinion. I didn't demand anybody agree with me. You don't have to prove anything to me.
people are saying the dogs ears are floppy for a reason....my dogs ears arent floppy and hs never had a problem with his ears and he was born like that....human ears dont have tons of hair but theres wax just like in a dogs ear
The Doberman Pinscher (alternatively spelled Dobermann in many countries) or simply Doberman, is a breed of domestic dog originally developed around 1890 by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann. Doberman Pinschers are among the most common of pet breeds, and the breed is well known as an intelligent, alert, and loyal companion dog. Although once commonly used as guard dogs or police dogs, this is less common today
nooo...people are getting mad the fact she cut her dogs ears, not simply for the pain inflicted. but for multiple other reasons. 1 being, the dogs ears r floppy for a reason, not having alot of hair inside their ear, the flop mechanism allows safety of the ear, less dirt, less ear infections etc....they r also upset about the cutting of the ears for one more reason, why try to make such a cute dog with a wonderful disposition try and look mean, or viscious or scary or intimidating.
DONT CUT HIS EARS! you don't speak for the dog , you speak for nobody. Stupid bitch for mutilating your dog like that to cater to others....so other can say how nice or cute is your dog? others won't give a flying fuck about you or your dog if something wrong happen. That dog is YOUR family, you don't put him at risk under an unnecessary surgery nor mutilate your OWN dog for his looks and to cater to others, stupid idiot.
@scorpion20112 you don't speak for the dog , you speak for nobody.
@scorpion20112 Miss the puppy ears every now and then but the crop is a must. If you don't like cropped ears, don't crop your dogs ears. But don't try to tell others what they can or can't do with THEIR animals. If you don't like people having the right to choose for them self, then go live somewhere where people don't have right and fuck off. Our dogs, our choice, fuck you.
@ProudToWearAMurkin That is so fucking funny. His grammar is terrible. I've actually never seen grammar so bad on an English video. It'd be different if people were speaking Spanish or something in the video and the title was in Spanish or some other foreign language.. Also that puppy is old enough to be climbing stairs. His grammar "developed not right". LOL!
Would you rather have your ears ripped off while running and have no control, or would you rather have a professional put you under and precision laser cut the ear to protect you in the future?
Dobes ears are not cropped to intimidate, They are cropped because the dog is a working dog and having floppy ears and a tail that can get ripped off are not good. My dobe enjoys running thru thick brush and woods, If i did not have them cropped the ears just flap everywhere and this is a hazard for the dog. Having cropped ears when she runs the ears almost lay flat against the head.
@jdjozwia if so I find it rather funny that it's an illegal thing to do in so many countries.. i haven't seen any dogs who has been ripped off ears eventhough they were guard dogs and had floppy ears..go figure..
@jdjozwia and I also have to comment the "running thru thick brush and woods" comment, I've also had working dogs with floppy ears, and I have never seen or heard of anyone who have let their dogs run in the woods and the ears were ripped of.. It seems to me that you're a bit overprotective about your dogs, or more likely you're just trying to justify you own selfish acts ;)
I really, really hope that someday people can stop beeing so selfish when it comes to the animals. If you wanted a dog with pointy ears I'd suggest you found yourself another breed. I am so glad I live in a country where this is illegal, I would never do such a thing only for cosmetic reasons. Say what you want but the dog isn't going to be a better guard dog just because it doesn't have floppy ears.. That's just your excuse so you don't have to feel guilty, but you should, you selfish brat..
The dog will not even remember getting his ears cropped. If u r cropping the pups ears at home with a fucking knife that's one thing. But getten it done at a vet isn't fucked up at all. When I get my dobey he will have his tail and ears cropped by a vet and he is goin to be the most loved dog and happy dog and will live a great life just like my min pin
You are all ridiculous. Especially OdinsCloud. This has been the traditional ever since the Doberman was breeded. It is excess ear skin that is not needed and it really isnt that painful to remove them especially since dobermans are the toughest dogs out there they dont even care. It makes them look more like a protective dog which does matter since many people get dobermans for protection. You Europeans are actually retarded. it bothers me that you think you guys are better than us. who cares?
tradition is to fucking rape your child too since its been the "tradition" for thousands of years. You have no excuse for that, there isn't any excess ear skin, the dog natural ear is like that and teh dog would be PERFECTLY fine wtih those ears. You are putting the dog AT RISH by submitting him under an UNNECESSARY surgery. Why doing that ? to cater for others? why don't you cut your own fucking ears?
@GloopenGooProduction Why don't you cut your own ears so you look more aggressive? or better yet, lets get all the security officers and cut their ears, oh wait, cut your own nose so you look better, uh? what about that ? double standards come to mind asshole?
@scorpion20112 If the standard was to cut off a useless part of my ear so I would look better, like the doberman, than i would do it. Im guessing you aren't circumcised then which is kinda gross. If it was dangerous and painful for the dogs, then it wouldn't be allowed to happen...
@GloopenGooProduction what kind of fucked up logic is that. an uncircumcised male is not gross.... sorry to diverge from the topic at hand, but that mentality irks me. Most men are not circumcised. FYI.
@GloopenGooProduction EXCUSE ME BUT get informed FIRST. This is painful and the puppies always cry when their ears are cut and tails docked. Children who are circumcised suffer a lot cause doctors don't use anesthesia. Watch a video of that in you tube and watch a video of how puppies get their tails dock and ears cut when they are babies and see the pain they have during and after surgery too. DON'T BE SO STUBBORN, THIS IS IGNORANT AND NEEDS TO STOP. .
@GloopenGooProduction It actually is painful. Ask any veterinarian. Puppies literally scream when their ears are cut and their tails docked. And it's not just them crying cause they're puppies, you can tell they're in pain. Every veterinarian I've ever talked to about it has described the process as "butchering" the dogs. Most are not fans of doing it, but if an owner demands it, what are you going to do? I'm glad we didn't crop my boxer's ears.
@GloopenGooProduction the bullfight its considered "tradition" in many countries, so we have to keep it like that? who cares, its "art" anyway
I consider useless to cut the ear skin and tails, its just aesthetic, it has no benefits for the dog, just in some cases for nasty dog fights when they tend to had their ears and tails bitten, but all of us, as civilized ppl, disagree with dog fight and mutilation of dogs
Also im not European and i feel bad for ur country bcs of having ppl like u
@somacruzfirm bullfights are completely different. you can even compare them so i dont know what you are thinking. and btw, its actually is beneficial for dobermans to get their tails cropped so they dont break them (and yes... dobermans are very strong dogs and there have been many cases of them breaking their tails if they arent cropped and its extremely painful)
@GloopenGooProduction I dubt that could happen in a normal house with a decent ambient, specially if u have child u know how to make ur home safe for them, so it will be safe for dogs too
Btw u mentioned tradition, so u can see that not all traditions are good
I'm cropping my dobies ears because we live in florida were it gets humid and its better vs floppy ears because it won't get ear infections...so bite me you hippie animal rights people its for its health!!
Another one from a place where this is illegal. But please, allow me to slice your ears and remove some of your spine, I'm sure you'll suddenly be able to guard stuff too. Seriously? I have a shih tzu who barks enough to scare people away. Why don't you buy some locks or an alarm? You know you may be charged if your dog hurts someone, even if they were attempting to rob you.
@beaucerdog Simple, it goes back as to why the Dobie was created, because it make the dog look more intimating and regal. A big floppy-eared, long tailed, almost hound looking dog is a lot less intimating and regal looking than a short tail, long, sharp eared, "big headed"(being as most dogs that have cropped ears have larger looking heads)dog. These dogs were bred to look tough, and cropping/docking comes with such a look. Ever notice not many original guard dogs have lopped ears?
@beaucerdog laughably you fail to realise that cropping CAN make the ear less obstructed, so the dog performs better at detecting intruders by sound, i.e. a more effective GUARD DOG. Rocket science it isn't. Cruelty? Google and read the debate for yourself somewhere people don't talk so much rubbish.
who names their dog aries or aris or whatever i couldn't even understand her

why do so many people care about croping its fucking ears? it doesnt hurt the dog, it just makes it hear a little better and look the way the owner wants it to
i wouldnt crop my dogs ears or dock its tail, but only because i think it makes it look unnatural and ugly, but if its safe then can someone tell me why its so important that she not do it?
manlymacaroni 6 days ago
@manlymacaroni
it’s not allowed in many european countries for god reasons. And it doesn't seem to matter much if that just not justifiable. The dog doesn't care about cosmetics. And people won't feel less intimidated because the dog has a tail. The tail is an organ for the dog. he uses it to communicate and for his equilibrium. Cutting a dogs tail is like cutting a humans tongue.it is clearly not justifiable and should be outlawed every where
asrafoo 5 days ago
@manlymacaroni nonsense. Dogs with huge floppy ears can hear a lot better than dogs with standing ears. And why would you crop a dog's ears and tail when they're bred with a long tail and floppy ears? Don't breed them like that if you don't want it. Or do you cut your kid's fingers and ears too because you think it's better for them? And cropping ears is extremely painful.

jaywizardess 6 days ago
SO WHAT IF IT IS COSMETIC! If done by reputable, licensed veterinarian, it is PERFECTLY safe and non harmful. The tails are done when the puppies are 3 days old usually and it has no affect on them. The ears are done while puppies and they are put under anasthesia (sp?) and they feel nothing. Ya it is cosmetic and its a choice, but it completely harmless just as any other surgery is when done correctly on humans or animals. This is NOT cruelty in any way. Get over yourselves.
tumblingislife427 6 days ago
@tumblingislife427 It IS cruelty that's why it's forbidden in so many countries. You must be total nuts if you think cutting off a dogs ears and tail isn't cruel.

UndergroundCreepers 1 week ago
I must admit docking the tail unless it is necessarily is cruel Dogs use their tails for communicating. They express happiness, aggression, stress and many other emotions with their tail. The tail has its importance of counterbalance. Dogs that run at great speeds often have thin tails that are very long in proportion to the rest of their body, and they use their tails as a counterbalance when making turns. Why on earth would you want to remove such an important part of their body?
TheAnnase 1 week ago 5
@TheAnnase Yet; ALL of our 6 HEALTHY CROPPED and DOCKED Dobermans had NO PROBLEMS expressing any of their emotions with their Docked tail- Would wag to express happiness, and had no problem communicating fear, play or aggression when around other dogs I guarantee you that if you were uninvited and entered our home; you would know exactly what our 94lb male was "communicating" to you. I think you're wrong there!
Dobermen aren't always 'deadly.'
There are many videos on here of dobermen protecting babies. I even saw one when the child kept on pulling the doberman's tongue without a reaction in return. Mostly it's how the owner treats the dog to behave that defines it, not plainly because of it's breed.

LOKISlog7 2 weeks ago
@LOKISlog7 Absolute nonsense. That's what breeders tell you but it's total bullshit. In Scandiavia it's forbidden for a long time and dogs are totally healthy there. Where I live it's forbidden for over ten years now and dobermans and other dogs are healthy and I've hardly see any infected ears and never broken tails. What you're saying has nothing to do with ears not being cropped but with not good taking care of your dog.

@Saartje05 So; YOU haven't seen a case; that makes you an expert on the subject??? Typical left wing euro self importance bluster. All were HAPPY, HEALTHY, and needed no psychological therapy to deal with the procedure. Spare us the peta BS
LOKISlog7 4 days ago
@LOKISlog7 I work at a dog kennel and just last week a hound got his ear torn during rough play that escalated into a fight. I don't want to worry about my future dobe (notoriously rough players at my work) getting it's ear torn and needed multiple stitches like the hound. Plus, dobes have a standard and it shouldn't be disrespected like saartje is. I didn't bash anyone for leaving them natural if they didn't disrespect my choice to have them cropped.

@jpost2129 I agree with your stance 100% I have always been PRO Crop and Dock for Doberman and Boxer breeds. riorumjungle 2 weeks ago 21

I think it looks nice, which is the FIRST thing that attracted me to the breed. then i learned about them, proper after care and a reputable vet doesn't define abuse in my book.
jpost2129 2 weeks ago
@jpost2129 That's the biggest bullshit I've ever reas. Then take another breed. You don't crop a dog's ears because 'otherwise they look like a hound'. So what! So you're attracked to the breed because their ears are cut? And you want to be a cruelty officer? Shame on you.
Saartje05 5 days ago
@Saartje05 You clearly didn't read that right. I said FIRST thing I was attracted to was it's looks. Then while working at the kennel I work at, I met a lot of them and fell in love with their demeanor and attitude. And you're really gonna compare cropping ears by a reputable vet and an owner with a devoted after care regimen to someone who beats the hell out of a dog or starves it? and don't say "shame on me" for wanting to crop the ears, I'm not gonna burn in hell for it and it's my choice.
jpost2129 4 days ago
@Saartje05 PLUS I've seen multiple cases of dog's ears being torn during rough play and fighting at my job. These injuries require numerous stitches. If ear cropping is done at an appropriate age and the owner cares for the ears properly, then fine.. But with the abuse I've seen, you really have NO place calling ME cruel. there's breeders who don't wanna pay a vet so they do it themselves, call that cruel. But not me or anyone else who gets it done. You don't like ear cropping? Don't do it.
jpost2129 4 days ago
@jpost2129 I've worked at an animal for more than twelve years. Also worked for vets. I've seen abuse and what you're saying about those ears is nonsense. And yes, I do have a place calling you cruel. And breeders who don't want to pay a vet should be arrested. That has nothing to do with normal treatment of a dog.

She had it done because it is breed standard and much like everyone else, she thought it looked cool....
mjfromga89 3 weeks ago 40
@mjfromga89 actually some vets are ok with docking tails on certain breeds because they have tendency to wag them so hard they hit something and break their tail, they do the same for boxers and rottweilers and other dogs with "hard tails". same with removing a dew claw on small breeds. its not NECESSARY but its sometimes easier than dealing with a broken tail or ingrown claw down the line. the cropping tho i agree is unnecessary and unacceptable since it increases vulnerability to ear infection
OnlySuzyV 3 weeks ago
@OnlySuzyV Most vets are okay with cropping and docking too because it's breed standard and makes them money. It goes against a dogs natural instinct to wag their tails so hard that they break them against something. It RARELY happens. Her description box is snobby but I was just speaking on how ridiculous it is. I love dogs and she can spend her hard earned money where she wants but it doesn't justify what she did to that dog...
mjfromga89 3 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 i'm not saying they do it on purpose, just saying it happens lol fair enough though, her attitude towards less fortunate people just seemed too condescending for me not to suggest she find a way to help others instead of doing something like this for looks.

But upon reading the description.. gotta say, she sounds like a sociopathic bitch. lololol she's proud of the fact that her dog is living a better life than most people on the planet hahahaha. What a bitch.
HwarangOfFaith 3 weeks ago
@HwarangOfFaith I am not a fan of random neutering and my 14 year old dog is not neutered and I'd never neuter my dog. However, unlike cropping, it saves lives. Irresponsible owners cause many dogs to die by letting their dogs breed. Altering a dog helps more than one health problem also and it also usually causes dogs to be calmer and seem happier. Does cropping do any of this? NO! Your argument is totally off and invalid.
mjfromga89 3 weeks ago
@mjfromga89
lol are you retarded? There are many cases in which uncropped ears in doberman have resulted in no detection of ear infections until it got fatal. There are also many cases where their tails broke from various reasons. There are just as much theoretical health benefits to cropping and docking as neutering. Also, who is the government telling us what to do with our property? Even if it's for pure cosmetic reasons, so fuckin what? rofl.
HwarangOfFaith 3 weeks ago
@HwarangOfFaith not really. if you suddenly decide your dog looks better without one of it's hind legs, you're not allowed to cut if off, sorry. that would be animal cruelty and it's punishable by law. as should be cropping, that causes lessening of hearing. and infection that advanced is only overlooked if the owner is a moron, and in this case they shouldn't be allowed to own a pet at all.
Mastermint 3 weeks ago
@Mastermint
HwarangOfFaith 2 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 cropping gives the dog a fiercer look which would make him a better guard dog. cropping ears improves hearing which also makes a better guard dog. cropping the tail prevents them from potentially breaking it (dobermans have a higher chance than most dogs because of their strength). and they look badass... nuff said
GloopenGooProduction 3 weeks ago
@GloopenGooProduction His job is to spot and bark, his ears won't make him a tougher dog. Cropping is not done to improve hearing nor does it's effects really make any sort of difference in the dogs hearing anyway. You can shoot him but shooting is loud and leaves behind evidence which is the reason most of these people don't even carry a weapon. Also if you're caught with the weapon, your charges get much more serious. A guard dog swamps a security system by a mile. My opinion.
mjfromga89 2 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 Yes, I guess a large, barking doberman would be an effective 'watchdog'. I'm not sure about foolproof guarding, nowadays, though. I appreciate your politeness in conveying your opinion (rare on the Internet)!
beaucerdog 2 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 I understand the docking as it would mean (since he's a guard dog) if he had to run away nobody could pull his tail but even then it's very far fetched isn't it?
I had a doberman female a few years ago and she was adoreable...
FLOPPY EARS AND ALL! :D
DannieShaw1990 2 weeks ago 3
@DannieShaw1990 If your guard dog finds himself having to run away, then he is not a very good guard dog.. now is he? My dog is 14 now and he was a guard dog when I was younger and still is. He has his tail and he'd never run away from his duties and if he did, I don't think a person would be quick enough or even have the desire to grab his tail and bring him back. Both procedures are useless in my opinion...
mjfromga89 2 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 That's a very fair point... I was trying to come up for a plausable reason and that was the only one I could come up with lol.
We had our males tail taken off because he broke it several times (beating it against walls and doors by wagging too much)
He was happy without it and in the long run cost him less pain but this kind of thing happens very rarely.
I do agree with you though... It is just to make them look aggressive and it's cruel in 99% of cases.
DannieShaw1990 2 weeks ago
@DannieShaw1990 You did it only AFTER it began to cause problems. I am not opposed to that but just doing it for no good reason, stupid. I am glad you're not for this unless there is a good MEDICAL reason, especially as a doberman owner as breed standard actually says to dock tails. Shines a light upon the world...
mjfromga89 2 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 Read your history cunt and then you'll know why dock and crop was done.
VendingBrands 2 weeks ago
@VendingBrands Give me a break, the guy who this dog was named after did it for cosmetic reasons. The same reasons that she did it. I simply refuted her argument that he needs it for his duties. If protection dogs NEEDED these, then why don't German Shepherds and some other guard breeds get it? Thank you for calling me that name. I don't even know you nor was I speaking to you so that was uncalled for. Have a nice day...
mjfromga89 2 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 Floppy ear dogs are prone to ear infections and ear mites. How many posts have you made against castrating male dogs?
BloodlossDesign 2 weeks ago
@BloodlossDesign I've had floppy eared dogs all my life, not a single ear infection not a single case of mites. I'm against neutering male dogs for no good reason. My boy will be 15 this year and he's not fixed. It is foolish to compare neutering with cropping anyway. Neutering/spaying can prevent thousands of dogs from being killed in shelters and suffering on the streets. And as I said, just get a shepherd etc for a pricked ear instead of hacking off a dobies ears....
mjfromga89 2 weeks ago
@mjfromga89 I have lost two male dogs with testicular cancer. I also do not breed because unless breeding for the ring it is stupid. Those are both good enough reasons for me. PLENTY of great dogs for adopting. I will continue to fix any male dog I have with me for those reasons.
shiboof 1 week ago
@shiboof I think that it is okay to do that. I don't agree with breeding period, dogs are not tools, or money making gadgets. At this stage in our time, there is no good reason to breed. I know that mutts or even pure bred dogs from the pound are just as healthy and just as wonderful as pure bred dogs. We fixed both our female cats because they get in distress when in heat and stuff so I'm NOT against fixing. I just don't like neutering male dogs that much...
mjfromga89 1 week ago
@mjfromga89 So true. Or breed them with standing ears instead of floppy ears.
Saartje05 5 days ago
@mjfromga89 i've had many dogs natural and cropped. i have a dobe with natural tail and ears and if i do not put Vaseline on the tips every day in the winter they dry out and crack when he shakes causing crazy bleeding that takes weeks to stop. humans circumcise their children for the similar reasons. its not a big deal either way. your not a better dog parent because your dog isnt cropped or docked.
imperialinv 5 days ago
@imperialinv We don't circumsize our kids at all. That's such a sick thing to do.
Saartje05 5 days ago

Although once commonly used as guard dogs or police dogs, this is less common today

to hear better, is the reason for cutting ears
fantamas06 3 weeks ago
nooo...people are getting mad the fact she cut her dogs ears, not simply for the pain inflicted. but for multiple other reasons.

LOL!

Would you rather have your ears ripped off while running and have no control, or would you rather have a professional put you under and precision laser cut the ear to protect you in the future?
jdjozwia 1 month ago
Dobes ears are not cropped to intimidate, They are cropped because the dog is a working dog and having floppy ears and a tail that can get ripped off are not good. My dobe enjoys running thru thick brush and woods, If i did not have them cropped the ears just flap everywhere and this is a hazard for the dog. Having cropped ears when she runs the ears almost lay flat against the head.
jdjozwia 1 month ago
@jdjozwia if so I find it rather funny that it's an illegal thing to do in so many countries.. i haven't seen any dogs who has been ripped off ears eventhough they were guard dogs and had floppy ears..go figure..
mariee542 4 weeks ago
@jdjozwia and I also have to comment the "running thru thick brush and woods" comment, I've also had working dogs with floppy ears, and I have never seen or heard of anyone who have let their dogs run in the woods and the ears were ripped of.. It seems to me that you're a bit overprotective about your dogs, or more likely you're just trying to justify you own selfish acts ;)
mariee542 4 weeks ago 2
I really, really hope that someday people can stop beeing so selfish when it comes to the animals. If you wanted a dog with pointy ears I'd suggest you found yourself another breed. I am so glad I live in a country where this is illegal, I would never do such a thing only for cosmetic reasons. Say what you want but the dog isn't going to be a better guard dog just because it doesn't have floppy ears.. That's just your excuse so you don't have to feel guilty, but you should, you selfish brat..
mariee542 1 month ago

You Europeans are actually retarded. it bothers me that you think you guys are better than us. who cares?
GloopenGooProduction 1 month ago 9
@GloopenGooProduction I agree completely with all of that until you classified ALL Europeans as retarded, that's like saying ALL Americans are fat.
DeadlyAntenna 4 weeks ago
@GloopenGooProduction
tradition is to fucking rape your child too since its been the "tradition" for thousands of years. You have no excuse for that, there isn't any excess ear skin, the dog natural ear is like that and teh dog would be PERFECTLY fine wtih those ears. You are putting the dog AT RISH by submitting him under an UNNECESSARY surgery. Why doing that ? to cater for others? why don't you cut your own fucking ears?
scorpion20112 3 weeks ago
@GloopenGooProduction Why don't you cut your own ears so you look more aggressive? or better yet, lets get all the security officers and cut their ears, oh wait, cut your own nose so you look better, uh? what about that ? double standards come to mind asshole?
scorpion20112 3 weeks ago
@scorpion20112 If the standard was to cut off a useless part of my ear so I would look better, like the doberman, than i would do it. Im guessing you aren't circumcised then which is kinda gross. If it was dangerous and painful for the dogs, then it wouldn't be allowed to happen...
GloopenGooProduction 3 weeks ago

DON'T BE SO STUBBORN, THIS IS IGNORANT AND NEEDS TO STOP. .
scorpion20112 3 weeks ago
@scorpion20112 If I thought cutting my ears would make me look cooler, I'd do it.
BizzarreProductions 3 weeks ago
@GloopenGooProduction It actually is painful. Ask any veterinarian. Puppies literally scream when their ears are cut and their tails docked. And it's not just them crying cause they're puppies, you can tell they're in pain. Every veterinarian I've ever talked to about it has described the process as "butchering" the dogs. Most are not fans of doing it, but if an owner demands it, what are you going to do? I'm glad we didn't crop my boxer's ears.
carnivaljunkie 3 weeks ago

@GloopenGooProduction the bullfight its considered "tradition" in many countries, so we have to keep it like that? who cares, its "art" anyway
I consider useless to cut the ear skin and tails, its just aesthetic, it has no benefits for the dog, just in some cases for nasty dog fights when they tend to had their ears and tails bitten, but all of us, as civilized ppl, disagree with dog fight and mutilation of dogs
Also im not European and i feel bad for ur country bcs of having ppl like u
somacruzfirm 3 weeks ago
@somacruzfirm bullfights are completely different. you can even compare them so i dont know what you are thinking. and btw, its actually is beneficial for dobermans to get their tails cropped so they dont break them (and yes... dobermans are very strong dogs and there have been many cases of them breaking their tails if they arent cropped and its extremely painful)
GloopenGooProduction 3 weeks ago

You know you may be charged if your dog hurts someone, even if they were attempting to rob you.
indiedetective 1 month ago
How does cropping the ear make him a "more affective guard dog"? Cropping cannot change personality or behavior.
beaucerdog 1 month ago
@beaucerdog Simple, it goes back as to why the Dobie was created, because it make the dog look more intimating and regal. A big floppy-eared, long tailed, almost hound looking dog is a lot less intimating and regal looking than a short tail, long, sharp eared, "big headed"(being as most dogs that have cropped ears have larger looking heads)dog. These dogs were bred to look tough, and cropping/docking comes with such a look. Ever notice not many original guard dogs have lopped ears?
xWolfHauntx 1 month ago
@beaucerdog laughably you fail to realise that cropping CAN make the ear less obstructed, so the dog performs better at detecting intruders by sound, i.e. a more effective GUARD DOG. Rocket science it isn't. Cruelty? Google and read the debate for yourself somewhere people don't talk so much rubbish.
