Your blaming the UAW for a contract they negotiated and then GM signed...willingly. Who do you think lobbied for the labor laws that protect your sorry ass? The 40 hr work week? So now that we have all these laws in place what do we need unions for? I hardly think forcing companies to pay for 10 years of retirement is protecting anyone anymore.
Unions had their place 75 years ago. Now, it's just a tool used to blackmail companies for more $. The pendulum went the other way. Besides, unions steal more money from their workers than anyone else.
Down the street from me is a 4 story union building. I wonder where all that money came from? Member's wallets perhaps?

Someone trying to frame a debate of intellect...there is intelligent life here on the Tube. If there is no body to continue to fight to preserve these laws then what can happen to laws? They get amended. The companies are only forced to pay due to their contractual obligation. I will agree that even I have an issue with service unions as opposed to craft unions...big difference. However, IF anyone who works 40-60hr wk wants to see an immediate decline in wages, get rid of the unions....

Additionally, why do you think companies like Wal Mart spend so much money keeping unions out? I would venture to say that less than 10% of Wal Marts overall work force is full time. Companies like Wal Mart are exactly WHY unions came to power. Unions are no more of a thief than the banks or big business are. Our most prosperous time was the 50's...CEO's made 15-24x the average scale. Dedication to companies were stronger for that reason. 450x the avg employee is not capitalism it's theivery...

I don't blame them! That's why their business is successful! Besides, I like going in and only having to spend $1.50 on a box of cereal than the $4.50 the supermarket charges me.
In fact, 90% of all Wal Mart's customers are poor minorities who can afford to feed and cloth their families because of Wal Mart's prices. But of course bleeding heart libs like yourself will never stop to think about that right?

It amazes me how the party that hated communism has grown to embrace it so. China produces the majority of their products. Secondly, their business is successful due to their ability to manipulate their inventories price points...labor is nominal because they are a bulk dealer. Wal Mart is the Kreiger of old...it's a wonder they don't have Pinkertons at the door...they abuse their employees and are a scab outfit...that's why I dislike them. The people they serve 7x out of 10 are thier employees

Uhhhh...have you seen the unemployment numbers? IF working at Scab Mart is the only way to feed your family your going to work for them...and they know that. No abuse...Google Wal Mart labor issues...and then tell me that. Look at their empolyee turnover ratios...now why would that be?
