You don't have to be a scholar or supreme court justice to understand the Constitution. You just have to learn some history to understand reasons for the articles and amendments and the results they've had on the nation. Seems the tea party understands it a whole lot better than you. Maybe learning the reason for their points of view would be more enlightening the being scared of them. Changing the constitution is much different from ignoring it.
Article 1 section 3 states the Senate should be elected by the legislators of the states. Why? Because they represent the states. The Representatives are elected by the people. Why? They represent the people. The 17th amendment (1913) changed the elections of Senators from states legislators to the people. Why? State party bickering prevented the appointment of some senators and was holding up the government. Is this good or bad?
Just to let you know something, really quick, a constitution is supposed to be more than just words on paper. It's a fundamental ideology that was instituted by our founding fathers and is carried on as a sense of foundation for rights and liberty. Study. American. History.

The income tax does not pay for any of the things you said. It pays for the interest that our government has racked up. The high way system is paid with gasoline tax. Education is payed with property tax. The military is paid with corporate tax and now China ha. Study the income tax a little more you will find how stupid it is.

There's another interpretation of the second amendment that says what it really means is that since you need a militia to protect the country, you need to allow the civilian population to be armed to protect themselves from the militia, not so you can have armed people to make up the militia.

The military and police can be funded by having a 10% national sales tax IN LIEU OF an income tax.
SCOTUS said the right to keep and bear arms is an INDIVIDUAL right. The cases are Heller vs. DC and McCormack vs. Chicago.
Eliminating the 17th Amendment will REMOVE the special interest and corporate money. Senators will not have to run a campaign for election. They will be more responsibe to the needs of their state and less able to be elected by lobbyists.

You don't have to be a scholar or supreme court justice to understand the Constitution. You just have to learn some history to understand reasons for the articles and amendments and the results they've had on the nation. Seems the tea party understands it a whole lot better than you. Maybe learning the reason for their points of view would be more enlightening the being scared of them. Changing the constitution is much different from ignoring it.

Article 1 section 3 states the Senate should be elected by the legislators of the states. Why? Because they represent the states. The Representatives are elected by the people. Why? They represent the people. The 17th amendment (1913) changed the elections of Senators from states legislators to the people. Why? State party bickering prevented the appointment of some senators and was holding up the government. Is this good or bad?

The income tax does not pay for any of the things you said. It pays for the interest that our government has racked up. The high way system is paid with gasoline tax. It is a indirect tax witch is permitted under the constitution. Meaning I don't have to pay for gas tax unless i drive a vehicle. I don't have to drive a vehicle. Education is payed with property tax. The military is paid with corporate tax and now China ha. Study the income tax a little more you will find how stupid it is.

Your illogical arguments against the Tea Party don't make even the slightest sense when looked at in full context and discussion.
The right of the people (not right of the militia members!) to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Even when you read the first part, it doesn't change the meaning of the second part.
Further; I'm pretty sure nobody has interpreted it to mean "use them as they please". A crime is a crime, whether by gun, by knife or by stealth in the night.

The right of the people, if one finds this hard to understand that one should not be permited a gun and should be supervised in all areas. There's another interpretation of the second amendment that says what it really means is that since you need a militia to protect the country, you need to allow the civilian population to be armed to protect themselves from the militia, not so you can have armed people to make up the militia.

Well said, as usual, but I can't agree with many of the statements you've made. Income tax truly is theft from the people. Imo, it goes toward paying the federal reserve bankers their chosen interest rate for our fiat currency, and little else. I'll have to look it up in my own copy of the Constitution, but Judge Andrew Napolitano is an expert on it and he says often how it says it is the people's right to bear arms and overthrow a govt that has become tyrannical. I don't mind funding services as long as I get what I pay for. And it is a FACT that government is the LEAST efficient way to deliver services, except for maybe the military where I see we agree. and the 2nd amendment says "shall not be INFRINGED" not "abridged", important distinction. Have you ever read a STATE constitution? Many states, including mine REQUIRE involuntary service of ALL able bodied male adults IN THE STATE MILITIA at the request of the governor. The citizens of a state ARE it's militia, not just the federally co-opted National Guard. And National defense requires more than a hunting rifle or a shotgun. In modern warfare, machine guns, et al, are required to be effective

The FACT is that the 14th amendment was never ratified and the congressional record explicitly explains this, as members from 11 states who were prevented by military force from attending the vote witnessed into the record, yet it was passed ANYWAY WITHOUT a legal 3/4 majority. And the 16th amendment was passed only because the 14th was passed, being dependent on the provisions of that amendment. So YES, we disapprove of UNCONSTITUTIONALLY passed amendments. There is no contradiction. Nice try.

Most doctors think that universal care is a good idea. Also the world health organization did a scientific study showing that healthcare in single payer systems (eg europe) is not only cheaper but leads to better outcomes.

I graduated with only 50 grand in debt btw. I said most kids had 200,000 remember? Thats how badly my medical school wanted me.

@truthofevolution I can't see how it leads to better results...all of the best doctors, the most state of the art health care available in the world is here In the US. Under this healthcare system...I agree that it needs reformed, i don't think it's good as it is now....i think the health insurance industry is a bad thing as it is right now. But i don't think moving to a free system will make it better...nothing is free, and we risk ruining a system that has given us so much.

@Graffight the best doctors are here you are correct, but they serve the richest people. Middle class americans cant afford care so they end up dying. What we need is a balance. Thats why I like the public option. That makes healthcare affordable for the middle class. But competition is good too.
Nothing is free, but single payer is definitely cheaper than what we have now.

Once you understand, you will see that your method is NOT equality of opportunity because poor people cant pay 200 fucking grand or they wouldnt be poor.

@TheBear1488 I dont get it you paid for you education by working for it. Im GOING to pay for it by working for it. Im working for it now. I worked throughout college and highschool. Medical school costs 40 grand a year. College costed 40 grand a year. Im going to pay it all back when I grow older. Doesnt that mean Im NOT a freeloader because Im going to pay it back?

@truthofevolution giving the poor money does not give them opportunity...it does the opposite, people who make poor choices with money should not be given more of it...more helpful would be spending money to teach them how to manage the money they have more effectively.

I have to agree with t3chk4. Global warming is a scam, very clever in its design but a scam non the less. I'm also glad some people still know we live in a constitutional republic as all democracies are doomed for failure. If you don;t know the difference between them I suggest you look into it. The rights of the individual over the collective are the most important things. Oh and truthofevolution your points make no sense. Polls are not science or evidence.

Polls are NOT evidence, the ice core samples and the natural cooling and warming trends in our atmosphere ARE evidence. I doubt your claims as to dual Md/Phd status as by your page shows you are not old enough. I however have an extensive education, and seeing how much of a devoted Democrat you are shows me you don't research anything. You are one of those who think a democracy is what you live in, you don't. Nowhere is a democracy mentioned in either founding document. It's a Republic.

I can't say I envy your country right now - not that I ever did, to be honest (except for the greater abundance of climate research centres). However, American policy has a bigger influence on world policy than any other country. Patriotism will only go so far - you're also voting for how the world will end up.
