The original movie KIREEDAM(malayalam) made in 1989 is much much better than gardish(1993), kireedam was directed by sibi malayil, priyadarsan just copied it.

first time i saw this movie i wondered why the story was so familiar and then i found out that it was the hindi remake of original kireedam in malayalam. i have to say that kireedam was amazing..afterall mohanlal got a national award for his role. there is also a sequal to it called chenkol which explores what happens to the main character after his release from jail sentence..actually i think he comes out on parole. must watch!!!

This movie was remade in Pakistan,Urdu as Angarey and Jackie was played by Shaan(Khuda Kay Liye,Ghar Kab Aao Gay,Moosa Khan).PAkistani was good too and Shaan did a good role.But I believe Indian is much better and Jackie did a much Matured and Entertaining role than Shaan(Pakistani Shahrukh Khan).But Shaan is also a good actor

Done to the perfection by the king of actors Mohanlal. One The best actors India has ever produced.

Mohanlal has also won his second national award out of total four for that movie..
