Watch any of the Letterman appearances. You can get hints from every appearance that Letterman does NOT like Conor Oberst or Bright Eyes. He's just rude, goes out of his way to be apathetic, and has that "I'm going to pretend I care, but only barely" attitude. Then again, I guess he's like that to a lot of his musical guests.

You don't have to be excited or like every band that comes on the show, but there's some professionalism in putting on a smile and being respectful to your guest, right?

This reminds me of "old" Bright Eyes so much: the song, the lyrics, the "jam" feeling that comes with a big group, even the way Conor is dressed and coiffed, haha. Don't get me wrong-- I love just about everything he's ever done-- but "The People's Key" also has that added element of nostalgia (at least for me). Can't wait to see them in June... I scored pre-sale tickets in Philadelphia. Totally worth the 6 hour drive, as I've only gotten to see him with the Mystic Valley Band. :)
