  • OMG! what an abosutely great song! I've always loved the songs Dennis Yost sang, I grew up listening to them and the fact he still had the same wonderful voice. I had never heard this great song before, I love the four season's, but I think he is better than Frankie Vallie. I was so sorry to hear he passed away. I saw him on rock n roll graffiti what a talent!!!

  • The music and memories remain with us......

    Blessings,

    Lee from Idaho

  • Wow, don't know how I missed this, I loved singing their songs at parties and wherever I could. I especially love singing "Everyday With You", it is timeless. Wish I could sing for his old band.

Traces and Everday With You were my favorites, but i new just about all his material by ear. i saw him on maui at the maui memorial gym, they were great, then he got on the drums and man could Dennis Yost play the drums, Dennis is in God's grace, my regards and condolences to you Mrs Yost, aloha

  • I loved the song and was surprised to hear of your husbands death I am truly sorry...I loved his music and it brought back very many memories ...There was no one like him and he will be missed Again i am so sorry for your loss

  • I saw him within the past years at an oldies show at David Lipscomb College. His wife sat right next to me.

  • I loved his song What Am I Crying For

  • @tennesseeconcerts Me, too! It was played on local radio station and I bought the single! "She was just another girl like a million in the world"...

  • wow, one of my all-time favorite 60's bands, this sounds very 4 seasons-- esk. its great...............

  • Wow, this does sound like the 4 Seasons. RIP Dennis.

  • This was filmed in San Diego. It was either a park or the zoo. Yes, Dennis did sound like the 4 Seasons, in fact this record was going national on the charts until Frankie Valli's manager called WABC in New York and threatened to never give them another exclusive of the Seasons if they played "Pollyanna". This turned out for the best because Dennis stopped immitating other groups and started to use his own wonderful unique voice...the rest is history!

    Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Yost

  • @lvyost Thanks for sharing this information Linda. I was wondering where they were when this was filmed. You are so right about Dennis having his own unique voice. I'm glad he decided to sing in his own special way. Pollyanna shows a different range in his voice but I can still hear his tone. He certainly did not need to immitate anyone else. Dennis had a way of phrasing that was distinct and he owned what ever song he was singing. He was one of a kind!

  • Thanks for putting that up again!

  • Just found out about Dennis' passing.. It broke my heart.... He was of my parents' generation, but great music is great music .... Without an doubt, Dennis Yost was a musical genius! • For some reason they sound alot like the 4 Seasons here. This song is new to me even tho I remember all his old hits when they came out. When my hubby went to heaven in March from a heart attack, I know he met Dennis. They are home now.

  • I cried so hard when I read that Dennis Yost died. This is one of my favorite Classics IV songs and one of the best clips of him, in my opinion Thank you SO much for posting this. Dennis Yost you are SO missed.

  • It is Beautiful How AWESOME Classic Music Transcends Time, Generations, Race, Countries..... I'm a Young Lady & the Era is Before My Time BUT .... I am Enjoying this Music , Looking & Listening to Dennis Yost & The Classics IV Hits on YouTube!! What a Beautiful Voice, Lyrics & Music.

  • THANK YOU for posting this video!! Despite the quality problems, it was great seeing 23 year old Dennis and the original group again. Brought back memories of when I first met him in '62. He was a great talent and one of the nicest guys I ever knew.

  • Dennis Yost was truly a "Classic". What an incredible voice! Though it's a long shot that he and the Classics IV will ever be recognized by the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame...They should!

  • Oh, they'll make it there,,are you kidding me ?

  • Dennis was doing great. He was never blind or paralyzed and any website other than TheClassicsIV is a bogus sight. He chose the members and consulted on the newest The Classics IV CD.He said it wasn't about him, it was all about the music. When Dennis died, he owned the Trademark and made plans for the official band to go on.Thank you for all your kind words.Just go to the right website for info, not ones selling shirts or mugs.

    Mrs.Dennis Yost

  • Thank you Mrs. Yost, it was really nice of you to come and post a comment. So sorry for your loss, such a great voice, and a great person as well.

  • We are all truly sorry for your loss and for the loss of such a voice and musical genius. I don't know anyone in my class who didn't dance to "Spooky" and get their first kiss because of it.

  • I listen to Kearth everyday just waiting for them to play one of his songs

  • I am sorry for you. Your husband brought great joy to the world. And that's all that counts now. He will always be alive to those of us who love his music.

  • @lvyost I've always loved Traces and of course The Classic IV. Everytime I listen to this song, it triggers memories from my childhood and make me long for many years gone by. But I know my longing is nothing compared to yours Mrs Yost thank you for sharing your precious time in here. It's much appreciated and though it is a year late- my sincere sympathy. God Bless.

  • @rubybhernandez Thank you for the kind words and comfort. Yes, it's hard missing Dennis, but his fans have sure rallyed around and have made many more happy memories sharing their love and stories with me.

Thank you and God Bless you all!

    Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Yost

  • @lvyost -- Mrs. Yost, I was too young (11 years old) to have ever been in love when "Traces" was a new song and I first heard it. But I was crazy for Top 40 radio and I was completely captivated by that wonderful song and by Mr. Yost's MASTERFUL vocal performance.

What a fine year that was, 1969. First, "Traces", then "Every Day With You, Girl", and then "Change Of Heart". Add "Spooky" and "Stormy" and it's a great musical legacy.

  • @lvyost my name is Derick Rice my uncle is Don Decker who played the organ/keyboard back in the days of ole, I dont know the whole story cause uncle Don dont talk about it much but I was wonderin if you had any of the work that they did together? I am trully sorry for your loss and know that he will live forever in all of our hearts and his love for music shows in the audible memories that he has left behind for all of us to enjoy! sincerely -Derick- derickjrice@yahoo.com

  • So sad to hear about Dennis, may he Rest In

Peace-- and his wonderful Music will be play-

ed, and all the Fans will miss, and Love him

so much. Yes, this song sounds very much like

Frankie Valli, and the song has a Beach Boys

Vibe. VF, please don't be sad, Dennis is in

good company now, with all the Rock & Roll

    Hall of Famers...

    Best to you, Marcie B.

  • In contrast to their later sound, this is a very interesting tune...more like the Four Seasons than any of their hit songs.

  • A moving tribute . . . .

  • Dennis' wife Linda would issue reports on his health on their website. Over the last year or more he was blind and partially paralyzed. I was so hoping he would recover. This man had the most beautiful voice. No one sounded like him. Now, he's singing with the angels. RIP Dennis. You will be missed.

  • Your right. Nobody sounded like Dennis Yost. No one could have successfully copied him, no one could have done a Classics IV song nearly as perfectly as he did. Classics IV hits of 1968-69 are equal to the best music recorded in that period, due in no small part to superb vocals by Mr Yost.

  • Dennis was doing great as far as his injuries. His sight had greatly improved and he walked without any help. I saw him many times over the last year and a half. rock and Roll Heaven gained a great voice.

  • This is good to know. I was so hopeful he would recover.

  • Brian Wilson's favorite singer.

  • I too am saddened to hear of Dennis Yosts passing.I saw him and The Classics Four several times in the late sixties and early seventies. They were my favorite soft rock group.R I P Dennis. You were the best.

  • This song was written by Joe South.

  • I am saddened to hear that Dennis passed away. I heard a few months ago that his health wasn't good. Thanks for adding this gem.

  • You're Welcome. It came to me as a big shock. I hadn't kept up with Dennis' health and I am really sad. Turn up the volume so that Den can hear us all the way up there!

  • On my previous account I got some messages from a friend of Dennis who informed me of his bad health. I lost the contact info when that account got suspended.

  • Dennis Yost was in bad shape for a long time due to a fall. There was also a big legal battle over the Classics IV name due to an impostor group. I hate how John Legend ripped off the melody of Stormy in one of his songs.
