  • Stupid dislikes! How can someone stumble upon this video of Paula then say they don't like it? The video is crystal clear as well as its audio. The song is awesome, truly a classic! This one's my all-time favorite from Paula and I love it sooo much! Those guys who dislike this video, for whatever their reason, should have a bad taste for music or simply having a plain idiotic sick attitude, some by flaunting their homophobic idiosyncrasy!

  • Aww! Love this song. :)

  • I can't even see the dislike bar.

  • j'adore! reviens Paula!!!

  • Paula abdul's sucess did not happen overnight. he worked hard to get where she is at and it paid off. This song proves it.

  • OMG!!! very old school song!!!! but i lovet

  • Aww great song, likes a lot. Like only various songs by her and this be one yo

  • wow, I'm so glad I stubled across this video! I totally forgot about this song and it's awesomeness. She's so classy-- no one like her these days.

  • To all those who are dissing Paula......remember, this is where todays singers and dancers found their roots. Without the past there is no future. Without the shoulders of others to stand on these and others would have fallen on nothing.

  • Beautiful song, horrible singer -- Paula's voice is like nails being raked over a chalkboard.

  • its weird because this song just came out around the same time Magic Johnson anounce to the world about his HIV status

  • @delshizzy

It's a nice song, but that's what i associate it with too.

  • Paula Abdul would have no career without janet jackson, and paula didn't "teach" janet how to dance she had raw talent, could learn a whole routine in one take Madonna, Paula they all had former training in dance Janet had none. Paula said she was a natural in an interview.

  • blue dragon, i dont think it slipped away, all my friends at school still sing paulas songs, but not madonnas or janets. there would be no janet unless paula taught her how to dance. paula is just as famous and famous as the rest

  • Who is the guy singing? Is it prince?

  • i always loooove this vid, Paula's awesome!

  • Paula was actually just as famous as Madonna or Janet Jackson but it slipped away from her. For a year or two she was very famous. I was 19 when this came out. I remember how popular she was.

  • @bluedragon4 thats right.. she actually beat madonna and janet a couple of times for awards and she sold the same amount as both of them! Madonna, Janet, and Paula used to be called the queens of the 80s and early 90s

  • this is a nice song

  • Darling Richard, I'm still waiting for you.

  • Way to go, Paula. Love everything about this video and song. Orchestra is wonderful.

  • the american idol show, under paid and let go the true star and best judge of the show! ellen is a silly clown who should be a judge of miss america that would be her favorite job

  • I am NOT a Paula hater - I worshiped her growing up..used to try and dance like her...wrote her 2 fan letters..I LOVED her.... but it's kind of funny watching these..cuz she really can't sing *covers head* sorry!!! but I still love her she was part of my childhood

  • I love the choreograhy...this song is a beautiful song too!

  • muy chido el video y canta hermoso

  • I so agree with tvfanatic. Take THAT you Paula haters.

  • This is on my playlist. I hear this in MTV after MJ in the early 90's.

  • OLD School is right. Holy crap! Her vocals are SOO good here. I am amazed. I forgot how good she really was.

  • Man this was like my favorite song when i 4. I used to put it on repeat.

  • Amazing,great,awesome ect.

  • wow she is wonderful

  • A very underrated song. For all the people who say that she is a no-talent loon, this video proves otherwise.

  • I agree with you tvfanatic14. This is a cool cut. Paula Abdul may not have risen to the heights of Madonna or Celine Dion or Beyonce, but she ranks up there. She a sumpin'-sumpin'.

  • @tvfanatic14 True and well said.

  • @LUVJONZ99 Thanks for the compliment LUVJONZ99, I appreciate it.

  • @tvfanatic14 She was very talented, it's just that during that time she was being compared to "vocal power houses" like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Taylor Dayne. Nowadays she would be considered good compared to autotuned singers like Kesha, Drake and Enrique Iglesias.

It's just that her music was lumped with the whole 80s synthpop backlash in the early 90s especially with her MTV VMA 1991 performance.

  • @wxyzdetroit I think you've caught it exactly. She was such a unique performer and the enterainment industry never seems to know quite what to do with "unique". In an '80s interview Paula said she was told "Forever Your Girl" was just "not happening"--but they tried to market her as a singer (as you say in the Whitney-Mariah-Taylor mode) and audiences weren't impressed. Then finally the "Straight Up" video was released and sales (and her career) took off.

  • @tvfanatic14 ..you are fight

  • @tvfanatic14 ..you are fight..

  • @cjlover222 lol right is what they mean lol

  • @tvfanatic14 This video was not underrated. Though it didn't make it to the #1 spot. It did have steady play on MTV and reached up to #6 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It was another major hit for Paula. Its a beautiful ballad and Paula's angelic voice sings is so beautifully.

  • Wow! Brings back the memories. OLD SCHOOL. This is the JAM right here.

  • @alpac2376 TRUE DAT LISTEN TO THIS SONG WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL! WHO DAT!!!

  • como me gusta esta rola me cae

  • Great song =)

  • This is totally my favorite song by her. The video fits so well.

  • wow 0:53 seconds what a beautiful woman and such a great voice such great music from a forgotten era these days

  • Reminds me of one of the biggest mistakes of my life when i let a very special person get away.

  • wow...

  • The lyrics are STILL HEART WRENCHING.

    The choreography is breath taking.

The piano solo MOVES me still.

I continue to FEEL this selection.

Reminds me of a couple of my ex(es)...

    *Tear trickles down my cheek...still*

  • i agree beatiful song

  • I agree w/ you. String section is amazing

  • God this reminds me of being 11...I forgot how damn good this song was...beats the hell out of a lot of the crap we have today..i feel this song..

  • holy shit!!! is that Van Damne dancing with Paula?

  • ...it's the desperate call of two eager to become one FOREVER...time seems to go stagnant, seems to deter from moving when love seems to tarry...don't quench love maidens till comes...

  • Comment removed

  • I'm 45 and this song really marvelous, with spark, originality, including choreography...too sleazy for me now,but for that time I guess it was acceptable, it's the desperate love call of a woman for her man, it can just be quiet, it can't go away even when grows cold, love does not grows, every second every drop of tears, every heart beat, seems endless between the woman and her man...

  • i love love this song

its so pure yet has a good message

love her i think shes amazing

  • aww beautiful! shes got so many beautiful ballads on "spellbound" album!

  • I'm 15 and I'm one of her biggest fans, she's AWSOME!

  • Her music will never die every song she ever did was totally quality .....she is a beautiful artist who I believe still has it she needs to get away from idol and start singing again ....Just my opinion

  • I'm 16, this is my favorite song ever... got a problem with it? :)

  • I completely agree with you!

Thank god someone else who is young loves this song.

  • She's. The. Best. Thing. Ever.

  • I was 22 yrs of age when this song came out on radio and I totally fell in love with it. I used to day dream about about cute guys all day when this song came on and it was awesome!

  • i love dis song

  • Most youtubers are too young to remember this.

For me, this was a coming-of-age album, I believe I was 8 when I first heard it

  • Absolutely amazing!!
