I found out that wiith a meat food diet (raw meat on the bones is best), our dogs stand a healthier chance against bacteria, since common carb dog food destroys their immune system - it takes too long in their system to digest and they don't have what it takes in there to break down carbs. I cried for weeks.

I'm so sorry for your loss :( I know what it feels like to have to put a beloved pup to sleep. I had to do the same and I was depressed for months. I couldn't even hear his name without hysterically crying. It was a tough time in my life.

what happened with the vet? if you don't mind my asking. my friend went on vacation and left her dog at a kennel in the vet. and they confused her dog with another dog that was to be put to sleep and put her dog to sleep. she was heart broeken when she got home.

That is the same exact way my dog went. Lucke was his name he was a golden retriever (not yellow like they are today, Actually golden color) Best dog ever, 10 years of age, He had developed cancer, started with his diet, then paralyzing his legs, then puking yellow bile, then he couldnt go to the bathroom. When all of this was occuring i knew we would have to put him down. Maybe this was the answer you were searching for, maybe yours went from cancer, at least they arent in pain anymore

Oh my God, just reading the background about the dog made me cry really hard. Holy crap. I guess it is because my King German Shepherd, age 9, named Bosco, his hips are starting to fail on him. I admit, he is slightly overweight, but I have always exercised him thoroughly, except for this last winter. There was too much ice, and he had already slipped twice and injured himself both times, which resulted in limping for a week and a half. They go so fast. It just gets worse and worse. Damn.

I lost my beautiful German shepherd, Sheba a few years ago. She was so loyal and everything you could ask for in a friend, I still cry for her. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member, they basically are family anyways!
I have another beautiful german shepherd now called Zeus, he'll be one in April.. german shepherds are the best dogs ever! <3
don't feel bad replacing shelby at all. Really you didn't. Shelby would want you to be happy as you were with her with any other dog. Dogs are the best thing to have around. I have been through it twice, not to replace my boys that I used to have (never would I replace them if I didn't have to) but I love having a pet around. It would feel so lonely around here without one. God bless you and your dogs and giving them such a happy life. They love you no matter what

i saw ur vid and saw my baby. when i see most GSD i dont see blacky, but shelby rlly looks just like her, she even had a black spot or mole on her cheek, just like the one shelby has.

One more comment, the dog is a German SHEPHERD. Emphasis on SHEPHERD. It was bred to do among many things to watch over sheep, goats, ducks, etc... It is in its nature to watch over others. It is what it was bred to do. The lady is providing the dog with boundaries and giving it a job with specific tasks. Ma'am, I am glad you can ignore the morons.
I just go a 12 week old female GSD yesterday and named her Shelby. You should take a look at her. I have one video posted of her and there will be many more to come. I am very sorry for the loss of your loved pet. RIP Shelby.
A tremendously well socialized shepherd. I'm 60, and have been in contact with shepherds since I was a toddler. This great behaviour is typical . We have two who behave in a similar manner - but tend to push in a bit more for a scratch and a stroke. Thanks for posting such a positive video
I question the veterinarian who refused to see your dog without upfront payment. I've never come across a vet who hasn't offered some sort of payment plan to families under financial strain -- particularly when the animal is suffering and the situation is life-threatening. That's very unusual. Sorry you couldn't find a better clinic or hospital.

hey i had a german shepard and was shelby to but she had to be put to sleep when i was 3 my dad said she was going to go to sleep at the vet and i thought like it was sleeping and then after a year or 2 i realized it every day i asked when is she going to wake up

i have a german shepherd husky cross that is 14 years old (in human years) and he has arthritus in his back legs my famliy thought he was parralyzed so we rushed him to the vet varry sad day that was we where all crying cuz my dad said he might not be comeing back and te vet put him on meds so that will get him 1 or 2 years :D

did your dog have any hair loss on her sides? just a question because it sounds like hypothyroid. my dog got dx a few months ago and she has the same symptoms. she would have been dead this year if i didn't catch it so soon.

That is the same exact way my dog went. Lucke was his name he was a golden retriever (not yellow like they are today, Actually golden color) Best dog ever, 10 years of age, He had developed cancer, started with his diet, then paralyzing his legs, then puking yellow bile, then he couldnt go to the bathroom. When all of this was occuring i knew we would have to put him down. Maybe this was the answer you were searching for, maybe yours went from cancer, at least they arent in pain anymore

Ok I have been looking through a lot of dog videos trying to find a good way to prevent biting, and so far all Ive seen is a bunch of goddamn crybabies... their fucking dogs not people... who cares if it's tied up or yelled at. Everyone crying about these videos with absolutely no abuse whatsoever in them, need to head over to China, watch dogs get chopped up and made into stews... that's something to cry about.

the owner knew better then to give the stupid cat commands, those animals are pointless. I cannot stand them at all. They aren't loyal, untrainable, sketchy animals. GSD are the best you can purchase. This looks like a happy family, aside from the stupid cat.

Oh my God, just reading the background about the dog made me cry really hard. Holy crap. I guess it is because my King German Shepherd, age 9, named Bosco, his hips are starting to fail on him. I admit, he is slightly overweight, but I have always exercised him thoroughly, except for this last winter. There was too much ice, and he had already slipped twice and injured himself both times, which resulted in limping for a week and a half. They go so fast. It just gets worse and worse. Damn.

I lost my beautiful German shepherd, Sheba a few years ago. She was so loyal and everything you could ask for in a friend, I still cry for her. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member, they basically are family anyways!
I have another beautiful german shepherd now called Zeus, he'll be one in April.. german shepherds are the best dogs ever! <3

don't feel bad replacing shelby at all. Really you didn't. Shelby would want you to be happy as you were with her with any other dog. Dogs are the best thing to have around. I have been through it twice, not to replace my boys that I used to have (never would I replace them if I didn't have to) but I love having a pet around. It would feel so lonely around here without one. God bless you and your dogs and giving them such a happy life. They love you no matter what

3 months ago my german shepherd Blacky passed away. that was trully the saddest day of my life, specially since it was out of the blue.
i saw ur vid and saw my baby. when i see most GSD i dont see blacky, but shelby rlly looks just like her, she even had a black spot or mole on her cheek, just like the one shelby has.

One more comment, the dog is a German SHEPHERD. Emphasis on SHEPHERD. It was bred to do among many things to watch over sheep, goats, ducks, etc... It is in its nature to watch over others. It is what it was bred to do. The lady is providing the dog with boundaries and giving it a job with specific tasks. Ma'am, I am glad you can ignore the morons.

I just go a 12 week old female GSD yesterday and named her Shelby. You should take a look at her. I have one video posted of her and there will be many more to come. I am very sorry for the loss of your loved pet. RIP Shelby.

A tremendously well socialized shepherd. I'm 60, and have been in contact with shepherds since I was a toddler. This great behaviour is typical . We have two who behave in a similar manner - but tend to push in a bit more for a scratch and a stroke. Thanks for posting such a positive video

I question the veterinarian who refused to see your dog without upfront payment. I've never come across a vet who hasn't offered some sort of payment plan to families under financial strain -- particularly when the animal is suffering and the situation is life-threatening. That's very unusual. Sorry you couldn't find a better clinic or hospital.

WTF? some people are such heartless cunts. The owner is not doing anything wrong to neither the dog nor the child and loads of people are giving her a load of earache just because A. her dog is wel behaved and B. she is looking after he kid.
I bet she was/is devestated when she lost her dog and from the looks of it, shelby lead a full and active life in a nice envoiroment. The dog wouldnt be that well behaved if it was unhappy. There is a difference between being firm and shouting.

Poor dog man.. The day that baby was born was probly the worst day of the dogs life. Hey shelby we decided to procreate so now we are going to be as condescending as possible anytime you are even near him. RIP Shelby when the baby was born. I thought this video was a one time thing but it's every time she is near your child as seen in your other videos. I can say your dogs death was a sweet relief from your constant badgering of her when she was trying her very best just to please you.

hey i had a german shepard and was shelby to but she had to be put to sleep when i was 3 my dad said she was going to go to sleep at the vet and i thought like it was sleeping and then after a year or 2 i realized it every day i asked when is she going to wake up

shelby is such a pretty german shepherd! she reminds me of my own almost 10 years old man lol! u've done a great job training ur dog! anyone whos saying different dont know what it means to have shepherd that is not trained! they just gonna do whatever the hell they want and that would be dangerous for the baby! a dog is still an animal and they need the training! im really sorry about your loss though i can only try to image how bad it must hurt to put the dog to sleep! =(((

i have a german shepherd husky cross that is 14 years old (in human years) and he has arthritus in his back legs my famliy thought he was parralyzed so we rushed him to the vet varry sad day that was we where all crying cuz my dad said he might not be comeing back and te vet put him on meds so that will get him 1 or 2 years :D
