Guy on the scooter did everything right...He looked to check if it's safe to stay on this lane, He used his brakes to slow down and to avoid the accident, Didn't have shoes on so he will not forget to stay away from hot asphalt / street, his scooter is very well balanced to stay away from all the traffic in case of an accident.
On other hand, driver is clearly distracted by driving fast and looking at the brake lights. BAD DRIVER!!!
Scooter dude not all that smart. Checks his blind spot after he changed lanes and then brakes when he cuts the driver off. Tip: Brake checking a car with a motorcycle is not a smart idea...
The car in front of him was dragging, so he makes right while checking his mirror for any vehicle. He should have checked the mirror first, then head right. He also is just wearing shorts, that's going to hurt if he ever hits the road with his legs. Scooters are fun to ride, but they are just plum terrifying to ride in traffic like that, for me anyway. Nice exit from the scooter though.
in the beginning of the video you can see that there was another accident. why is he speeding after he saw a few seconds before this acciddent? idiot!
honestly id say its both of their faults. the car was going way too fast for the scooter driver to predict, but then the scooter driver should have sped up after switching lanes to avoid getting hit...
The law in the UK is, if you hit someone from behind you are fucked.
This guy in the car even with video evidence is screwed, he should not have been speeding and should have seen the bike was about to change lanes.
OK the guy on the bike paniced but so would 50% of the people out there. If the car was traveling at the correct speed he would have slowed down with plenty of time.
@cleve101 I think the brakes came on when he heard the horn being honked by the car, bottom line is the car was speeding and undertaking which creates THIS PROBLEM.
@MyCosmicPath It's impossible to know who's actually at fault because we don't know the speed limit( if you look in the video there is no sign showing a speed limit ),
For all we know the car the biker was following was going to slow... or vise versa ( your assumption )
This is in HK, and there are many of these guys about on their scooters, in shorts and t-shirt, flip flops, shit at riding, totally unaware, and they never learn. These guys are just complete morons, and get what's coming to them. However, the drivers aren't that great either. It's a bit hairy over there.
I don't know where this is but where I live switching lanes or not but if you rear end someone you are automatically at fault bike should no have been tailgating but that is not what got him hit he should have looked which is only part of the reason the guy in the car speeding was part of it but cager was fully at fault according to the law where I live
It was obvious the scooter was pulling out and there was time to slow. BUT saying that it is the scooters fault , he should have waited but he was also tailgating the vehicle in front, so not a good rider anyway, also he was lucky to get up as he only had a helmet for protection .................................
As much as I hate to say it, the scooter is at fault. It looked like the car was speeding, but the scooter shoulder checked, saw the car and still moved over.
Two problems here: the first is a poof on a scooter driving like a fool, and the second is an asian car driver in a sports car driving like a fool. Stevie Wonder could have seen that dick on the scooter about to pull out in front of the car. The car might have been in the right, but now he has to stop, exchange details, probably call the cops and get his bumper and headlight fixed.
@johnko13 yep, you can fake a 40mph collision on a moderatly busy highway with other traffic about that could have run the guy over if he had fell differently... Yeah dude it must be fake.
oh he looked as he switched lanes watch closly then right after seeing the car coming at him he hit the brakes.. super smart idea.. a little throttle may have avoided that
Just been reading some of the comments on here. Seriously, was a complete shower of idots. Those of you who believe the bike rider was at fault- Bravo!! Those who believe the car driver was at fault should quit dragging your nuckles and give the cuts a chance to heal. The car driver, quite rightly, was accelerating..... in the outside lane.... uphil! That's why the car's reving hard. I'm a biker myself, we're taught to ride defensively.... this rider had no clue... or proper gear. What a douche!
The scooter guy is dumb as shit.He tries to over take a car and when he sees the car comming at him he brakes without realising that he is already in front of the it.He can't even hold on to the handlebars.Stupid retarded bitch ass corean guy.
why did the scooter brake? wtf? he should step on gas, or remain in previous row, yes its easy to say, but if he tryed to take over the first car, why did he brake when he saw the other coming...
The motorist was in control: Saw it happen, horning + controlled deceleration. Accident avoided, well done.
The only reason for impact was the bikers response by hitting the brakes. Since the safety distance for reaction and braking was already consumed, nothing could have prevented this.
@Nomasain your right except for the fact that from 0:08 to 0:16 the driver was accelerating very quickly which is a factor because if he remained at his speed at around 0:05 he would have had a better reaction time as well as if he had not have sped like that he would have been no where near the bike
The car is a fucking douche because he is clearly speeding.
The prick on the bike NEVER looked back... He may have glanced in his mirror, but he did not look back... Not until the horn was going.
Could teh rider have looked and then the car came into view? Yes possibly because the car was REALLY speeding like hell.
Who is at fault though? They both have a case againt the other I am sure, but had the car NOT been speeding, it would not have hit the bike, thats a fact.
what a queer gets on the phone instead of askin a guy is he ok ! what a faggot id beat the shit outa him even tho its bikers fault for not looking/breaking 4no reason !
Bikers fault all the way... 1 switching lanes without signaling... 2 not checking the lane before switching.... and why the fuck did he slam the brakes when he realized there was a car about to hit him... you speed up moron.!!
Took car driver 2 sec to realise the situation. He should NOT speed up like this with that slow reaction time. (average driver has one sec - professional drivers 0.1)
That's why you check your blind spot BEFORE making a lane change... not right after to see who you just cut off. Feel bad for the guy who got his car ruined because someone doesn't know how to ride a bike on the road.
Bike's fault. He looks only AFTER his tires goes over the dotted line into your lane. After that you can see he keeps on the brake even after changing lanes... wtf?
i am a motorcycle rider so that eliminates bias here. just bc the car was speeding (or about to be) isnt the reason the accident happened. the idiot motorcyclist 1) was wearing sandals, 2) did not use his signal, 3) did not check his mirror, 4) did not check his blind spot, 5) was set up to go left and swung right. his fault
The scooter looked as if he was going to pass on the left..he was riding the cars ass... and why are you on the freeway with a scooter? looks like another country, maybe fastlane is on the left?
@sfasto1 absolutely right, biker could have avoided the situation. No matter whos at fault biker is the one hurting, he should have looked before merging then accelerated when he felt in danger. When in doubt, GAS IT!
Simply because he accelerates rapidly and over-revs the engine doesn't necessarily mean that he's speeding ie; going over the speed limit recommended for that stretch of road. Also, it looks like an overtaking lane to me and as long as the car was within the maximum speed limit of that lane, then the bike is at fault.
@pronto355 look at the flow of traffic and the speed of the 5 or more cars/ trucks that are passed. clearly he is exceeding the speed limit. if u turn to look behind you or use your mirrors to check your blind spots and then after seeing its clear you change lanes and suddenly get hit from behind it doesn't take a very smart person to know that they were more then likely speeding. or maybe everyone else is doing 15 to 20 under the speed limit lol.
@KZNS0077 At the start of the clip they pass an accident scene so wouldn't be terribly surprised if the traffic is moving well under the limit. As for checking your mirrors, you don't just check if there is a car in the lane, you should also be checking how fast it is approaching otherwise you might end up like the bike rider
