The update you're referring to is less of an update, and more of a fix if you DO run into the specific game-ending glitch. So unless you run into that glitch, the save file fix channel won't be needed.
@plasma777 My Wii was glowing for quite a while before I apparently unplugged it somehow, so I thought it would still be there.
Oh well, I think I know what to do when I come to that point, and if not, I back up my saves, and if still not, someone here will tell me, so it's not too much of a problem.
