  • I don't think the bridge is gone, if you go on google earth and type in mcloud river railroad, you can still see it and google earth is recent

  • @makinbigblooms did you know a jennifer kurtz or a kelly kurtz?

  • When were the Rails Removed?

  • I actually grew up in Burney and used to party at the train bridge all the time, the matresses were actually buried in the ground and are still there. If you look in between the cross rails you can see the 2x4s they used to nail boards down so the actors would have a solid platform to run on. A lot of my friends used to jump off the bridge for fun and one girl broke her back from landing wrong in the water. For now Burney SUCKS!!!!

  • DO you know Where the part filmed when Teddy Wanted to Play Chicken with the Train?

  • good lookin railroad

  • so is it gone by now (september 2011) or is the bridge still there? I know that the railroad is gone but is the bridge still there? if it is it would be great to go see it.

  • @jackdanswe The Bridge is still there just without Tracks, sadly

  • I'm not 100% positive, but this bridge may now be gone. An article in the Mail Tribune (southern Oregon newspaper) 3 years ago stated that the bridge will soon be gone. What a shame.

  • man.... that was the all time train dodge 2 cool.... sincerely

  • How many people a year do you think run across those tracks yelling "TRAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"?

  • @grimgrimmygrim no one, its dangerous

  • "Fuck that!"

  • where is this located? make a nice little spot to bungee!! the stand by me bungee!! hell yeah! is it in CA?

  • @elasticaddict its outside of burney ca. go out highway 89 about 8 miles out.

  • Whats the deal with the inner and outer track on each side?

  • @ishtech101 it's a saftey track incase the train would happen to de-rail by some fluke the idea is that the 2nd set of tracks might help the train not go screaming off of the bridge. some also have another railroad tie that runs the length of the bridge its called a bumper. i spend a lot of time on RR bridges jumping off of them...on bungee cords of course :) RR Co. don't like me too much LOL

  • go across the bridge its scary as fuck

  • it looks like the same place in the Aerosmith video where Joe Perry is standing on the tracks playing guitar and the train goes by.

  • lol what if you were to find verns comb washed up on land near there

  • COOL! thanks for posting this vid..love that flick..I grew up around the time that movie portrays..they sure got it close to how it was growing up then..had a big brother and his pals..they werent as mean..but close!...lol...theyd put me in a scissors lock with their legs and knuckle my flat top haircut head till the skin was red...LOL...(the rotten bastards)...OMG..LOL...

  • where is the bridge ?

  • I'm really jealous right now, I'd give anything to be standing on pieces of the bridge of that scene. I effing love that movie! *Face glows green with envy*

  • I was just at this bridge this summer (July 2010) - all of the iron and rails had already been pulled up by the time I got to it, which is unfortunate. They just also started de-construction of the bridge entirely in the past month to totally remove it which is really sad.

  • Where is this located? Can you post a link for google maps? I'm heading up that way anyways in a few months.

  • was this film ever been filmed on this train route? I mean who you go along because the one dan to the scrap yard is? Please write Back! thank you

  • WHer is the bridge exactlypleas awnser

  • @wischkaun The bridge's location is in the info, just expand the tab

  • NOTHER TRAINNNN!!

  • lol family guy

  • best movie ever, its like ocarina of time, it NEVER gets old

  • do trains still run there?

  • Very cool Video!

  • am i the only one who can see that collum of smoke behind the trees?

  • @trainlover658 those are ROCKS not SMOKE. notice how they DON'T MOVE and u can't see a train.

  • Is the bridge still used?

  • @360Nomad From what I hear the rail's have been removed but the cross boards are still there. The line hasen't been used in years

  • @mountainman530 You are correct

  • @360Nomad - I was just at this bridge this summer (July 2010) - all of the iron and rails had already been pulled up by the time I got to it, which is unfortunate. They just also started de-construction of the bridge entirely in the past month to totally remove it which is really sad.

  • luv stand by me best film ever

  • clearly the dude dunno what he's talkn bout coz i seen the movie and no1 was hurt and it's 100 ft according 2 the actors

  • @tiger1986able Lol, I was joking, no one broke their legs! Ya, its pretty high up, You wouldn't want to fall

  • @ trainlover & KLETUS98K- The railroad WAS The McCloud River Railroad, but in the last two or three years it has ceased operation & pulled up all of their tracks except for maybe eight or ten miles in the vicinity of Mt. Shasta city. As for the rails at the bridge site, they are gone, the bridge is still there, as are the wooden crossties that the rails sat upon ...

  • @dmpraetzel Thanks for the update!

  • @mountainman530 at least the locomotive is still used.

  • Wait, are the rails still there? or what?

  • And this place is not forbiden to walk, i mean when the Train come and you are on a midlle of the tracks... Where is this place ?

  • wow, that was 24 years ago and it still looks the same

  • This spot was also used in the video for Aerosmith's "Livin' On The Edge" .

  • Im so seriously TERRIFIED of HEIGHTS that if someone were waving a 2 Million dollar check at me at the end of those tracks I couldnt do it!

  • what railroad is it?

  • thanks so much for posting this. i would looooooove to go there one day and actually walk on those tracks. it would just be so surreal walking on the former set of my all time fav movie.

  • i love that film!!!

  • Wow this place exactly the same as it did 25 years ago.

  • how many of yall would go to the other side if you saw someone and yell TRAIN!

  • wait, who broke both of their legs when they jumped? Wil Wheaton or Jerry O'Connel?

  • @musicdork4ever I was joking, no one broke their legs, lol

  • A-M-T-R-A-K!!!!!!

  • trees grew a bit

  • I live around here... why havn't I gone there yet?

  • @MonaTheBellydancer-I was here during the last week of Aug. 2010. the bridge is still there, and probably not going away anytime soon, but the rails have been pulled up in the last year or so with only the wooden ties left intact so, you could still walk across like the characters did in the film without worry of a train coming, but , like in the film it is a bit dicey and not for those afraid of heights...

  • This bridge is located about forty five minutes driving time southeast of the northern CA town of Mt. Shasta about a quarter mile off state route 89. There's a gravel road off the hiway which will take you right up to the western end of the bridge. Found it by accident while on a road trip.

  • Comment removed

  • I used to be a USFS firefighter down the road from there (middle of nowhere)

  • Walking on train tracks is a bad idea!!!

  • You might want to change the first coordinate to:

41°00'53.55"N. The second, 121°37'07.19W is close enough. 40° puts us somewhere south of Lassen

  • Hey what happened? It says your channel isn't available when I try to click on it :(

  • That does look like the place I seen the movie that scene was funny.

  • wow, that looks just like Maine (psych)

  • 2010

IS THIS FUCKING BRIDGE THERE NOW OR NOT?

  • I think aerosmith filmed a scene there too

  • tiv been searching for this. thanks dude

  • thats cool! where was it?

  • @Michael321990 I SO would haha

  • amazig guys, do not make more movies as before. remember is to live.

  • you look like a white Justin Long! LOL

  • Can someone tell me how you go here? i dont have no idea: i live in sweden but i really wanna go there.

Is this the same spot as bronsville? or this is another place because i planned to first go to brownsville

  • I have a dream to go there, it means alot to me. Thanks for the movie and other things. I wanna go go there and i have a feeling if i do im gonna feel happy. I wanna go there and at the same time i wanna hear the songs "stand by me" and "lolipop"

Does somebody know if the bridge is still there? :(

  • hahaha thats funny

  • you kiddn its still there

  • I heard this bridge isn't there anymore is that true?

  • TRAAAAIN!

  • woahh that would feel so wierd bein there :D

  • wow cant believe it, it looks almost the same considerin like 30 years has passed since they filmed that scene, if u actually followed the trackes do u rekon ud find the place where they filmed the scene of vern the fat kid findin the dead body? O.o

  • Sure, if you walked north along the tracks 200+mi to Cottage Grove, Oregon you'll find the spot. At 3mph, 16hr per day, it should take you around 5 days!

  • 24 years. what's wierd is that on the movie chris said it was a 100 feet, doesnt look like 100 feet more like 50 or 60.

  • Great vid dude! One of my favorite films of ALL TIME! I'm from Aus and was plannin on visiting the bridge later this year while on a trip to the US but am trying to find out if there's enough of the bridge still there to be worth the visit. I know the rails are gone but dont know about the rest. Fingers crossed! We the fans shoulda mobilized and saved the sucker! Dang!

  • Thanks! I hope their just fixin it! I will post another vid this summer, your winter, and give you all an update!

  • @mountainman530

You're awesome! Thanks for the vid, man. No update vid on the bridge, tho'?

  • I hear that this is still an active railroad, does anyone know if this is true? and if so who operates over it now?.

  • Well from what other people have commented below it looks like the rails and ties have been removed but the rest is still there! And the last I heard via railroad is that part of the tracks is not being used at this present time!

  • I was on facebook and found a photo of the bridge with the rails gone. I was rely hoping to ride a train over the bridge, but maybe some day I can walk over it, I'll make it a vacation. Thanks for getting back to me, Perhaps you could visit the bridge and walk over it, taking many photos where you can. That is, if you live closer then I. I am from about 50 miles South West of Chicago, IL.

  • Ya, I hope their just replacing parts of the bridge and not tearing it down!!! I plan to go there this summer and will take another vid, I live 60mi away as the crow flies!

  • @mountainman530 Mc Cloud railroad is a shell of it's former self. Mc Cloud 25 used in the movie is up for sale only 650,000 USD. I don't think the rails will ever return to the bridge over Lake Britton.

  • oh! thanx for filming this! I will go there this summer, i just have to! :P

  • the movie was based in Oregon the kids lived in Castle Rock in Oregon in the film

  • Thanks for the info!

  • Thank You Very Much for posting! I have always been curious about the location of the bridge. One correction though- While the book took place in Maine (along with most of Stephen King's other books) the story of the film took place in Oregon.

  • Thanks!! I corrected it!! I need to watch the film again, notice how i say "this is where the kid jumped" when i should have said "kids jumped" Lol!!

  • how cool! I want to be there to :P

  • dude that was great. i love how you gave us the address thanks alot

  • stand by me is the best movie ever :)

  • dude i love the trussels!!! its so fun to walk across. kinda scary tho

  • Wow, thanks for this man! I have always wanted to see how it looks right now, but after all those years, nothing changed!

    Thanks again ;)

  • Very cool.

I have always wanted to visit that bridge and i will someday.

  • I just wondered, do you think if you follow that railroad long enough, you would find the junkyard used in that movie? Or was that just set up and taken down after filming?

  • I think the junkyard was real, I don't know if you can find it from the tracks but from the types of trees in the junkyard scene I would say that they were shot not far apart! The film was based in Oregon but shot in Northern Cali and Oregon. The bridge's elevation is 2700ft and the junkyard has both coniferous and dicudous trees. I could be wrong!!

  • Does this bridge still exist? I've read a lot of sources that say that it has been dismantled.

  • Read Proshutterbug's comment

  • Okay cool! So the bridge is still there, but the rails have been taken off. Correct? I'll be pissed if I plan to go there and all that is left is a nothing. My girlfriend and I will probably cry. Wah!!!!

  • Ya, hopefully there is enough to cross, I would have if I had known the line wasn't in use! I haven't been back since. Hell yA!!! If you go try to film it and show us!!! Have fun but be careful, its a long drop!!!

  • Are U ever going to visit the bridge again and record that visit?

  • Yes and Yes, whether its this year or not, i don't know

  • Ok? Why did I get thumbs down on my last comment??

  • Traaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!

  • where is that ?

  • hey cheers for this,i how often does locos travel over this bridge?

  • Thanks! The bridge wasn't being used at the time this was shot and the tracks since have been removed

  • can someone describe to me what the bridge looks like now with all that stuff taken off of it?

  • The bridge is still in tact, so long as you have semi good balance shouldn't have any trouble walking across. I was tempted to drive across (they left the rail support boards in place), but thought better of it, tripple A would definitely not come to the rescue!

  • Cool Thanks!!! Driving across would be pretty cool buy ya AAA would be like " your on a train bridge"?

  • why r u tresspassing on railroad property?

  • yA well dont be such an old fart, life is too short, I rode inspection vehicles on tracks all over this country and I'll go any where I please! Thanks for your concern though!

  • They arent tresspassing the bridge is at a camp

  • Thanks for this!

  • This was shot on the McCloud River Railroad's Lake Britton Bridge in Burney Falls State Park. The railroad passes over the river just east of where Highway 89 does.

  • Thanks for the info!!

  • I was there today 3/31/2009, the bridge is still standing, but the rails are all gone, the entire line has been abandoned and the rails/cross ties removed.

  • It's good that you got this shot before they destroyed it.

  • That sucks! Ya good thing I got it!! I'm gunna try to walk across the bridge this summer, hopefully there is enough left to do so!!

  • Nice.

  • cool :)

  • were is this

  • The bridge is located approx. 7mi. North East of Burney,Ca. 800ft from Hyw299. It's located between Burney and McArthur, 1mi past McArthur Burney Falls!
