  • I always find myself listening to this when i'm in the mood for some pipes :) Love it :D

  • Good Tune, 6/10 Nice Wee Pipes, 8/10 Bad Bad Bad Playing,,,,,,,,, 1/10

  • @PIPERJIM08 Thanks for the constructive criticism. Not the best marks I've ever been handed by a judge but not the worst either... ;-)

I'm well aware this isn't the best playing you'll ever hear. It was a random muckaround 6 and a half years ago that my GF of the time decided to film. I certainly wouldn't take playing of that standard to Cowal or suchlike!

Feel free to upload a video of yourself so I can get some pointers. I'm not a regular player but always happy to learn. :-)

  • slow the buggerey down!!!!

  • @bagpipesparky X-D hehehehe Aye, I know.

Old pipe major used to go on and on about me playing everything at 100mph. I'm nowhere near that quick these days. Probably all the better for it as well.

  • what tune is this

  • that was pro

  • Where are you?

  • @MaxRideWizardLord

Alstonefield Youth Hostel in the Peak Dsitrict.

The description is your friend, read the description... ;-)

  • what brand is this, and how would you rate the sound and quality, i play the great highland pipes, and i have a nice set, but im looking for some quieter, inexpensive pipes to travel with, backpack with , and generally misuse

  • It's a set of Shepherd Practice pipes. The first version they came out with years ago.

Thick plastic for the bag, Copper pipe for the Drones, a pratice chanter and a single fixed (ie not easily replaced) drone reed for both Bass and Tenor.

The sound from them is amazing, but if your breathing is anything other than bone dry they won't last for more than a half hour or so before everything gums up.

Great for the occasional quick tune when the fancy takes you. Just like here. ;-)

  • thanks allot, thats a big help

  • I'm far from an expert but I've seen practice bags on Bannatyne's website. There's no drones at all. You could probably use your own blowpipe and chanter or pick up a cheaper plastic blowpipe and chanter just for that bag, especially if you are taking it backpacking. Don't want to destroy a nice wood set. But if you already have the pieces, it has to be cheaper than buying a full practice set.

  • Wow! Very well Played. Wish I could play like that :(
