We definitely needed the extra troops deployed there but I hope we do not make the mistake of not realizing that redevelopment of infrastructure to the country of Afghanistan and the lack of security is the key to achieving success in the region so we can leave a better situation abroad in the entire area. If we fail to realize this, I see a bad decade to come.

People need to realize that pulling out of Afghanistan is not feasable due to the on going crisis in the near east and the middle east. We definitely needed the extra troops deployed there but I hope we do not make the mistake of not realizing that redevelopment of infrastructure to the country of Afghanistan and the lack of security is the key to achieving success in the region so we can leave a better situation abroad in the entire area. If we fail to realize this, I see a bad decade to come.

Man these independent reporters are that anti-bush/conservative and they still never stumbled onto the truth of the attacks? I think that sharp drop O saw in the polls in that first month where the people who wanted to see W and co. burn for their horrendous crimes. The most powerful military force on the planet will outnumber Taliban by 12/1 now, and the smart money says we will be told a year from now that it is still not enough.

Fucking Obama... been President for 10 months... no world peace, hasn't gotten us back into a surplus yet w/ the budget, no healthcare even w/ all of the constructive criticism from the Republicans, hasn't gotten the unemployment rate to 0%, and the list goes on. Wow, maybe you forgot the promise he made regarding if we give him 787 Billion of our tax money, the unemployment will not go above 8%. Or, how about the promise of transparency. Yes, I guess many seem ignore these broken promises, however the rest of "us" simply expect him to keep his word, to uphold his promise to us and to deliver the promise of "change". I guess I'm not being "realistic" about these "reasonable" requests . . . or should I just continue to blame it on Bush?

Two years ago or so all Obama could do is say we were in the wrong country. Now it takes Obama 5 months or longer to actually give his generals part of what they requested. I wish we would only had given "part" of the bailouts, TARP and stimulus so we could have saved the taxpayers of this country some real money. Nothing like announcing we will give you these, but they will leave in 18 months - that makes sense to everyone??

Maybe you never heard Obama say that Iraq is the wrong country, we should be in Afghanistan. Now of course we are there, and it has taken Obama almost 5 months to grant the requests from his generals - is that clear enough? The promises of less unemployment if we pass the stimulus - another failed spending bill - is that not clear? I want you to take this job, take on the extra responsibility and put your life on the line and in 18 months I will fire you - that is what Obama to the troops.

Really? Ever heard of a place named Nagasaki? Hills around that city greatly deflected that nuclear blast & kept the kill rate down from what could be obtained on flat land. Please feel free to educate us on how two war heads would do the job in a country with an average elevation of 900 meters above sea level.
