"music explains the unexplainable"... Why is it that musicians, artists, athletes and countless others over-estimate the importance of what they do? It's a hobby that they're lucky enough to get paid to do. Sorry for being a party-pooper, but I find the kind of self-importance displayed here insulting.
@senik343 They don't think it's important because they do it, they do it because they think it's important. It's not an ego thing at all. If you believe in something that much, you dedicate your life to it.
@senik343 I don't think it's meant to be an egotistical statement. Music is something that just brings a lot of joy to most people and it conveys a message everyone in the world can comprehend. It's a way of communication. It's like it's own language.
@senik343, and what could be more important than living a fulfilling life? What is the point of doctors, engineers, labourers, and farmers if there is no joy to be had in life? Without pleasure our only reason to exist is to live long enough to produce a new generation to take our place. Then they in turn can do the same in a never ending and meaningless cycle of death and birth. Artists are responsible for giving us a reason to live beyond the dictates of our biological imperatives.
this campaign is for the music labels not artists. They are winging on about people 'stealing music online' when infact people have been stealing music for decades, they said taping of the radio would kill music, it didnt and neither will this. Plus downloading has really helped so many artists to break out of what would be a dead end gig in their local town. Most artists get their real money from gigs wer labels arnt able to rob their cash. Its the label stealing not the fans.
@SimpaBackstrom Couldn't agree more. I had a crap day and this video made me really happy. I now feel inspired to do something useful this evening, rather than just vegetating :D
