I never got it why they made full cover pickguards (since 1966/67?) on sg's. They aren't handy at all. When you want to change the pickups it's way harder than on these early sg's (or '61 reissue's). You have to take the whole pickguard off and set the height of your bridge again (not even talking about putting the screws in the pickguard).. only thing is that you can't scratch the top of your sg.
